FIELD INSTILLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR STYLE 3579
STOP BRACKET SERVICE KIT
Kits Contents:
#160 (X2): 1/4”-20x1.5” Stainless steel socket head cap screw
#202 (X1): 1/2”-20 Stainless steel plug
#203 (X1): Stop bracket assembly
#206 (X1): 1/2”-20x1/2”Stainless steel hex head cap screw
Disassembly:
1. Move the elevation joint to a position a few degrees o vertical
2. Remove the plug (#202) from the uppermost hole on the inlet elbow (#2) using a ½” socket or wrench.
Refer to Figure 1.
3. Remove the permanent stop (#127) and lock washer (#170) from the middle hole on the inlet elbow
using a ¾” socket or wrench. Refer to Figure 1.
4. Inspect the area around the hole from which the permanent stop was just removed for any visible cracks or
damage. If cracks or damage are present it is recommended that the unit be returned to Akron Brass for repair.
5. If monitor looks acceptable after step 4, rotate elevation joint so that it is at 45° from vertical.
6. Proceed to remove both cap screws (#161) holding the elevation gear cover(#7) to the inlet elbow
casting, using a 3/16” Allen wrench.

Bracket Mounting:
1. Rotate the manual override wrench (#56) such that it is oriented on the elevation gear cap (#7)
as shown in Figure 2
2. Place bracket assembly on top of elevation gear cover (#7) as shown in Figure 2.
3. Align the hole at the end of the stop bracket (#203) with the upper exposed hole in the
inlet elbow (#2) as shown in Figure 2.
4. Rotate the elevation joint towards vertical until there is enough clearance to insert item 206 into the stop bracket.
This should be around 15°-20° o vertical. Refer to Figure 3.
5. Apply Permabond LM113 or Loctite 222 to the ½”-20 X ½” hex head screw (#206), and insert it into the inlet
elbow hole through the stop bracket using a ¾” socket or wrench. Refer to Figure 3.
6. Apply Permabond LM113 or Loctite 222 to both ¼"-20x1.5” cap screws (#160) and insert each through the slots
on the stop bracket and into the holes in the elevation gear cover (#7) using a 3/16” Allen wrench as shown in Figure 3.

7. Apply Permabond LM113 or Loctite 222 to the stop plug (#202), and insert into lower open hole in inlet
elbow (#2) using a ½” socket or wrench as shown in Figure 4.
8. Rotate the elevation joint to until it hits the inlet elbow (#2) as shown in Figure 5. This is now the lower
elevation travel stop.

9. Rotate the elevation joint until it just contacts the bumpers (#204). This contact should occur a few degrees before
vertical. Continue rotating until elevation joint is vertical. All 4 bumpers should be engaged and partially compressed.
Refer to Figure 6.
10. If steps 8&9 are successful and monitor matches Figure 6 then the installation is complete. If monitor does not
match Figure 8 remove the bracket and return to Step 1 to repeat installation. However, it is recommended to
return the unit to Akron Brass for repair and evaluation if the initial installation is not successful.
