Presentation :
The Kontrol3 initial design goal is to allow a faders extension for « Grand-MA
and 3 Ma Lighting » desks, but it can be used with any software accepting Midi,
Dmx or ArtNet commands (lighting, video, DAW, etc..)
It has:
- 15 faders, each with 3 buttons
- 15 extra buttons
- 1 USB MIDI output
- 1 standard MIDI output
- 1 DMX 51 on XLR5 output
- 1 Artnet output
This interface can be USB powered, or through the Powercon connector.
Designed for an intensive use, it is built with high quality faders and buttons, a
universal power supply (85 to 65Vac, 47 to 63Hz) with a Powercon True One
« Neutrik » socket, a solid steel box and professional range connectors.
The MIDI-USB interface does not need any driver on win 10, win 8 and Mac OSX
The Layout of the faders and buttons of the Kontrol3 is willingly similar to the
Grand-MA , but is fully configurable. Every Button and fader has its own channel
or number and can thus be assigned to anything.
For example, one can assign a cue to the fader 1, another one to the « flash »
button of the fader 1 and something completely different to the button above fader
1.

Connectors
Every connector is on the rear panel of the Kontrol 3, except a USB-A connector on
top of the interface allowing to connect a USB littlite.
Rear Panel :
Usage :
To Enter config mode, press “MODE” Button for 3 seconds (indirect access to avoid
accidental manipulation during a live show).
In config mode, the four buttons under the LCD screen allow to navigate within the
menus.
Running mode
:
The Kontrol3 offers three different running modes that you can select with the
« MODE » Menu.

- « MIDI DMX » Mode: In this mode, the Kontrol3 simultaneously outputs
DMX-51 (through the XLR5 ) and MIDI (through both the DIN and USB
sockets) signals.
- « Artnet » Mode: In this Mode, the Kontrol 3 communicates using the ArtNet
protocol through the RJ45 socket. See below for IP and ArtNet configuration.
- « DMX Test » Mode : In this mode, the Kontrol3 outputs a DMX51 signal
through the XLR5, as would a classic lighting desk do.
In this mode, only the faders and the buttons directly below the faders are active.
The buttons are « flash » for the corresponding fader.
The buttons UP and DOWN at the top right of the interface allow selecting pages of
15 DMX channels, from page 1 sending channels 1 to 15 to page 35 sending the
last channels.
The LCD screen shows the page number and sent channel ranges.
Configuration
:
To configure the Kontrol3, 4 menus are available :
-MIDI : In this menu you can configure the MIDI signal.
-Output Mode :
- CC – control change. In this mode, the faders send their value as a
« MIDI control change », the buttons as « MIDI notes ON and OFF »
- NOTE – signal note, In this mode, the faders send their value as a
« MIDI Note » (velocity is used for the fader value), the buttons as
« MIDI notes ON and OFF »
This mode is necessary to control MA Lighting equipments through
MIDI
-Offset : Select the MIDI start Channel
-Midi Channel : Select the MIDI channel used.
-DMX : Select an address offset for the DMX signal.

-Artnet : 3 parameters are adjustable:
- Start Adress : the first DMX channel used
- Net, Subnet, Univers : The desired ArtNet config.
- Output mode : Selection between Broadcast (ArtNet is sent to every
connected device) and Unicast (ArtNet is sent to a specific device). In
Unicast Mode, you must enter the IP Address of the destination
peripheral.
-IP Config : Configuration of the IP and SubNet mask of your Kontrol3.
