My IP Touch Communicator
My IP Touch Communicator is a commercial package available from 3rd Quarter 2005 offer. User-
oriented and enriching Alcatel-Lucent IP Touch services, it provides Directory and Call Log bundled
services.
My IP Touch Communicator is based on Alcatel-Lucent OmniTouch Unified Communication foundation
(and My Phone application) and is an entry pack easy to set up, simple to use.
This paper briefly describes services that are offered and key benefits of using such a solution.
Licensing and commercial items, as well as a short technical specifications section, complete this
document.
Bundled services & Key benefits
My IP Touch Communicator is based on an intuitive and easy to use interface on Alcatel-Lucent IP Touch
high-end sets, namely the 4038 and the 4068. Directory access and Call logging are applications
allowing you to track and resolve 100% of your calls more quickly than even before.
Let’s show with few pictures the benefits you will have for using such an interface on your Alcatel-
Lucent IP Touch phone set:
"Directory access
The Directory service provides to the user an easy way to perform a directory lookup from the OmniPCX
Enterprise phonebook and corporate directories (LDAP directories). The user automatically gets this
service when characters are typed from the keyboard of the IP Touch phone set.
With OmniTouch UC R4.1 foundation, My IP Touch Communicator also offers presence information
(presence is a critical enterprise capability allowing users to discover if others are available to
collaborate, communicate and share information). The user gets this information based on presence
sources like Telephony and Instant Messaging (IM), as illustrated by the example below:

Telephony presence allows users to visually monitor whether the colleague’s telephone is on-hook or
off-hook. This information helps users avoid placing a phone call when it is obvious that the other
person is already using the telephone. It reduces the time both parties might spend unnecessarily
creating and/or listening to voice mail.

IM presence (if available through a My Teamwork system) allows users to visually monitor whether the
colleague is ready or not to start a chat session on PC. If your colleague is on the phone, you may try to
join her/him through an instant message; to do so, simply click the IM presence information to start an
IM session on your PC.

Features at a glance
Directory lookup in OmniPCX Enterprise phonebook and corporate directories (LDAP
directories).
Telephony presence (+ IM presence if a My Teamwork system has been set up).
Ability to call any phone number associated to a contact (business phone, wireless phone,
mobile phone…).
See the details of a contact (last name, first name, telephone number(s) and email
address if available).
Note: with OmniPCX Enterprise systems < R7.0 or with an OmniTouch UC R3 foundation, the
user will have to select first the Directory application before performing a directory lookup, as
illustrated below (presence information is not available in such contexts):

"Call logging
This service logs and tracks all incoming and outgoing calls (newest call is stored at the bottom of the
list). It allows the user to quickly track and resolve for example unanswered incoming calls, ensuring
that there is no urgent call lost. Calling back through the Call Log also reduces phone misuse, as you
never get wrong callback numbers.
Each record stored in the communications log provides the date & time and the caller’s name (or the
corresponding phone number if the number cannot be found in directories).
The user selects today first the My Phone application before entering in the Call Log application, as
illustrated below (call logging will be accessible through a one-key access in a future release):
Features at a glance
On a given record, make a call (callback) from your business phone.
See the details of a call: date, duration, type of call (incoming call, outgoing call,
answered or unanswered), phone number and name of the caller (if found in directories).
Delete one record, delete all records.

Ordering My IP Touch Communicator through the ACTIS quotation tool is very easy, as illustrated by the
example below:
Simply specify the number of users for the whole system; this will configure the corresponding server
licenses (these licenses will be controlled by the license manager of the OmniTouch Unified
Communication foundation).
