DM8 Module
Trigger Firmware Update Instructions
1. Download the DM8 trigger update firmware and DM10 updater application for your
specific kit from the appropriate Alesis product page below. (Note: Your DM8 drum
module uses the DM10 updater application.)

2. Unzip the contents of the .zip file to your Desktop.
3. Install the updater application:
•Windows: Double-click the .exe file and follow the on-screen instructions.
•Mac OS X: Double-click the .dmg file, and then open the Read Me file and
follow the instructions in the file.
4. Disconnect all devices except the power adapter from the DM8 module.
5. Quit any open applications on your computer.
6. Connect the DM8 module to a USB port on your computer's rear panel (if possible),
and power it on.

7. Press and hold the DM8 module's Rec button, power it on, and then release the Rec
button.
Windows users: If you see a Found New Hardware message, click Cancel and
ignore any error messages that you see during this process; they will not affect the
update.
8. Open the updater application.
9. Windows users: Select the DM8 port from the MIDI Interface menu.
On Windows XP, this will be called USB Audio Device.
10. Click File, select Open, and then click the .syx file in the 2 - DM8 Triggers folder,
but do NOT click Open.
11. Press and hold the DM8 module's Rec button, click Open in the updater application,
and then release the Rec button.
Note: If you release the Rec button before the update begins, you will see an error
message and the DM8 module will not update. If this happens, start over from
Step 4.
12. When the DM8 module's display tells you to reboot it, power off the DM8 module,
and then power it back on.
Your trigger firmware should now be successfully updated.
