operate the generator with known leaks in the fuelsystem
Excessivebuildup of unburned fuel gamin the exhami system can createa potwrt'ialty
explosivecondition. This buildup can occur aRer repeated failed start attempts, valve testimq, or
hoi engine shutdown. If this occurs, open exhaust systemdrain plugs, if equipped, and allow the
gases to dlsslpate before attempting to restart the generator.

Generator Use and Care
Makesure thepower switch is Inits "OFF position and disconnect the spark plug wire before
making
any adfustmsn2, changingaccessories,or storing the generator. Such preventwe safety
measures reduce the risk of starting the generatoraccidentally.
Stow idlegenerators out of reachof children and other untrained persons. Generators are
dangerousin the hands of untrained users.
Maintaingenerators
with care. Do not use damaged generator. Tag damaged generators "Do not

Check for misatignmentor binding of moving parts, breakageof parts, and any other conditionthat

of ?he generator. Ifthefloor/gwounded surface is not level, strong cross members should be
placedunder the fulllength of the generator frame at ~tslow side.
Fortrailer instaltation, the generator should be mountedon the center point of thetrailer, over
the wheels. The trailer must be capable of supportingthe weight of thegmeretor and all
contents {tools, etc.)

Mechanical
Always make sure the power switch is in its "OFF" position. Disconnectthespark plug wire, and

CAUTION: PRIOR TO FIRST USING THE GENERATOR, THE ENOlNE MUST BE
RLLED WITH OIL OF A HIGH QUALITY SAE 10W-30 GRADE ENGINE OIL.
T 0 DO SO, UNSCREW AND REMOVE THE ENGINE'S OIL DIPSTICK LOCATED
AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE CRANKCASE. FlLL THE ENGINE'S
CRANKCASE UNTIL THE OIL LEVEL IS LEVEL WITH THE UPPER MARKED
LINE OM THE DIPSTICK. THEN SCREW THE DIPSTICK BACK INTO
THE OIL FlLL HOLE.

Powering 120 Volt AC Tools And Equipment:
1. Prior to powenngtoolsand equipment, make sure thegenerator's rated voltage, and ampwage
capacity (l20VAC B 41 AMPS) isadequate to supply all electricalloads that the ud will
power. it

of the tools and/or squtpmsnt for connectionto a separate generator.

2. Once the generator ts runnmg, simply connect the power cords of 120 volt AC powered
tools and equipmentinto the 120 volt AC dual outlets.
NOTE WE GENERATOR FEATURES AN AC NON-FUS€CIRCUIT BREAKER
TO PROTECT THE AC CIRCUIT INCASE OF AN OVERLOAD. SHOULD
A
AN OVERLOAD OCCUR, THE BREAKER wru *TRIP" TO ITS*'OFF~ POSITION,
CAUSING THE GENERATOR T 0 AUTOMATECALLY SHUTDOWN. INTHIS CASE,
REFER YO ABOVE IN TMS POStTION. THEN, RESET f ff E CIRCUITRY
SYSTEM BY TURNING THE CIRCUIT BREAKER TO ITS "ON" POSITION.
RESTART THE GENERATOR AND CONTINUEPOWERING THE REMAIMNG
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT.
3. Note: Ifthegenerator breaker trips.Turnthe fuel valve to its 'OFF" position.
4. Disconnectallelectricalpoweredtools and equipment from the generator's 120 volt AC
dueloutlets.

Powering 12 Volt DC tools and Equipment:
1. Prior to powering tools and equipment, makesure thegenerator's ratedvoltage, and ampwags
capacity {IZVDC) is adequate10 supplyall electrical foads that the unit wifI power. Itpowering

equipment for connection to a separategenerator.
2. Connect thpower cordof a 12 WC powwed tool or equipmenttothe DC Terminals.

AND CONNECT THE NEGATIVE (-1 LEAD OF THE POWER CORD TOTHE
NEGATIVE (-1 TERMINAL ON THE GENERATOR.
3. Start and runthe engine as described above
4. When finished usingthe generator, turn theengine power switch to its "OFF" position. Turn
the fuel valve to its "OFF posrtion.
5. Disconnect the electricalpowered toots' power cord front the generator's DC termtnals.
6. After the engine and generator have completely woled, store the generator in a safe, clearr. dry
location (if not already instaled inone).

Spark Hug Service
Inordr to Se~icethespark plug, you wili need a spark plug wrmch (commercially availablel.
Recommended spark plugs: NHSP LO F7 RTC. To ensure proper engine opwation,thespark plug
must be propwlg gappd and free of deposits.
1. Flemove the spark plug cap.
2. Use a spark plug wrench to remove the spark plug.
3. Visuatly inspectthe spark plug. Discardit tf the insulatoris cracked or chipped. Clean the spark
plug with a wire brush ifit is tobe reused.
4. Measurethe plug gap with a feeler gauge.
5. Check that the spark plugwasher is In good condition.
6. After the spark pfug is seated, tighten wtth a spark plug in by hand to prevent cross-threading.
7, After the spark plug is seated, t~phten with a spark plug wrench to compress the wmhw.
MOTE: THE SPARK PLUG MUST BE SECURELY TIGHTENED. AN IMPROPERLY
TIGHTENED SPARK PLUG CAN BECOME VERY HOT AND COULD DAMAGE THE
ENGINE. NEVER USE SPARK PLUGS WHICH HAVE AN IMPROPER HEAT RANGE.
USE ONLY RECOMMENDED SPARK PLUS OR EOUNALENT.

- Misaligned or binding mwiq parts
- Cracked or broken parts
- Damaged electricalwiring
- Any other condition that may affect safe operation.
If an engine problem occurs, have it checked by a quaVhd senicetachnitlon before further use.
Do not use damaged equipment.
Beforeeach use, make sure theengine's oil and fuel levels am adequate. If necessary, fill the
crankcaseuntilthe oil level iseven withtheoilhillhole and/or fill the fuel tank.
Before each use, remove ali debris with a soR brush, rag, or vacuum.

CAPACITY, IT MAY BE N ECCESSARY TO GROUP ONE OR MORE OF THE
TOOLS AND/OR EQUIPMENT FOR CONNECT ION TO A
SEPERATE GENERATOR.
Electrical and other permits may be requiredfor the installatton of emergency pwer systems.

General Location
* Make sure to locate and install the generator outdoors where cooling air is readily availabke.
* Installthegenerator so that theair inlets and outlets are not blocked by abstructionssuch as
bushes, trees, or snow drifts. Locating it in the path of heavy winds or snowdritts may requfre
the placement of a barner for protection,Innormalweather conditions, the air vent shuld face
the prevailingwinddirection.

not reach it.
Generator placement should allow four feel of access to all sides formaintenance

Supporting and Mounting
Mount the generator on a concrete slab capable ofsupportingthe wefght cf the generator. The
slab must extend on all sides beyond the frame by at least one foot. Contact a cement contractor
for slabspecifications if necessary. Attach the frame to the concrete slab using 3/8'Ylaametr
axpanston anchor bolts (not supplied).
NOTE IT IS RECOMMENDEDTMAT ONLY ATRAINED AND LICENSED
ELECTRICIAN REPERFORM THIS PROCEDURE
Connect a 116 AWG grounding wire (not included) from the groundconnectoron the
generator power panel (picture below) to a grounding rod (picture below). Itmust be driven
at least 24" deep into the earth (Soil). The grounding rod must be an earth-driven copper or
brass (electrode) whlch can adequatelyground the gemrator.
