The WPX 3/30 is a petrol engine driven, 3” semi-trash water pump designed for a variety of residential, commercial and agricultural
tasks. It is suitable for sandy or muddy water, but not stones and other objects larger than 1” (25.4mm) in diameter.
Ideal for use in the following situations:-
• Draining water from a basement.
• Draining and lling your swimming pool, pond or hot tub.
• Draining shallow ooded areas.
• Irrigation purposes for agricultural or lawn sprinkling.
• Various other tasks including construction purposes.

General Safety
For your own personal protection and for the safety of those around you, please read and ensure you fully understand the following
safety information. It is the responsibility of the operator to ensure that he/she fully understands how to operate this equipment safely.
If you are unsure about the safe and correct use of the Water Pump, consult your supervisor or Altrad Belle.
BEFORE STARTING THE WATER PUMP
• Suitable clothing as follows should meet relevant EEC/local standards: overalls, work boots and ear defenders.
• Become familiar with the controls before operating the machine.
• Place the Water Pump on rm/level ground.
• Place the Water Pump at least 1 metre away from buildings and other equipment during operation.
Ensure the strainer is free from intruding objects such as steelmesh wires or metal objects which could jam the Impeller.
• Refuel in a well ventilated area with the engine switched o󰀨. Check for spilled fuel or leaks.
• ENSURE all covers are tted.
• Replace any worn/damaged decals.
• Remove all packaging material before operating.
WHEN OPERATING THE WATER PUMP
• DO NOT operate the Water Pump without correct instructions.
• ONLY use the Water Pump for its intended use (see Machine Description section). Pumping ammable liquids, such as petrol
or fuel oils, can result in a re or explosion, potentially causing serious injury. Pumping sea water, beverages, acids, chemical
solutions, or any other liquid that promotes corrosion can damage the Water Pump.
• Keep children and pets away from the Water Pump.
• DO NOT run the Water Pump in an enclosed area. Exhaust gases contain poisonous carbon monoxide.
• Adequate ventilation must be provided.
• NEVER leave the Water Pump running whilst unattended.
• NEVER remove or tamper with any guards tted, they are there for your protection. Always check guards for condition and
security, if any are damaged or missing DO NOT USE THE PUMP until the guard has been replaced or repaired.
• DO NOT operate the Water Pump when you are ill, feeling tired, or when under the inuence of alcohol or drugs.
• The jet of water from the outlet hose could contain small stones travelling at great speed. DO NOT direct the water jet towards
other personnel, as this could cause injury.
• BEWARE of hot surfaces.
FUEL SAFETY

Improper maintenance or use can be hazardous. Read and Understand this section before you
perform any maintenance, service or repairs.
CAUTION
Fuel is ammable. It may cause injury and property damage. Shut down the engine, extinguish all
open ames and do not smoke while lling the fuel tank. Always wipe up any spilled fuel.
CAUTION
• Before refuelling, switch o󰀨 the engine and allow it to cool.
• When refuelling, DO NOT smoke or allow naked ames in the area.
• Spilt fuel must be made safe immediately, using sand. If fuel is spilt on your clothes, change them.
• Store fuel in an approved, purpose made container away from heat and ignition sources.
DURING SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
• The Water Pump could have been used with contaminated water. Clean the Water Pump before service or maintenance
procedures.
• BEWARE of hot surfaces. ALWAYS let the engine cool before commencing and service or maintenance procedures.
STORAGE
• When not in use, store in a dry, locked place. Keep away from children.
• Place the pump on a level surface. Tilting can cause fuel or oil leakage.
• Cover the water pump to help to stop the dust

Refer to the engine manual provided for full transport recommendations.

Before connecting the hose to the Water Pump you must lay the hose out to its full length.
SUCTION HOSE INSTALLATION
Use a commercially available hose and hose connector with the hose clamp provided with the pump. The suction hose must be
reinforced with a non-collapsible wall or braided wire construction.
DO NOT use a hose smaller than the Water Pump’s suction port size. Minimum hose size = 3in (80 mm)
The suction hose should be no longer than necessary. Water Pump performance is best when the pump is near the water level, and
the hoses are short.
Use a hose clamp to securely fasten the hose connector to the suction hose in order to prevent air leakage and loss of suction. Verify
that the hose connector sealing washer is in good condition.
Install the strainer (provided with the Water Pump) on the other end of the suction hose, and secure it with a hose clamp. The strainer
will help to prevent the pump from becoming clogged or damaged by debris.
Securely tighten the hose connector on the pump suction port.

Before connecting the hose to the Water Pump you must lay the hose out to its full length.
DISCHARGE HOSE INSTALLATION
Use a commercially available hose and hose connector, and clamp provided with the pump.
It is best to use a short, large-diameter hose, because that will reduce uid friction and improve pump output. A long or small-diameter
hose will increase uid friction and reduce pump output.
Tighten the hose clamp securely to prevent the discharge hose from disconnecting under pressure.

Water Pump Placement

For the best performance from your Water Pump, place the Water Pump near the water level, and use hoses that are no longer than
necessary. That will enable the Water Pump to produce the greatest output with the least self-priming time.
As the head (pumping height) increases, pump output decreases. The length, type, and size of the suction and discharge hoses can
also signicantly a󰀨ect pump output.
Discharge head capability is always greater than suction head capability, so it is important for the suction head to be the shorter part
of the total head.
Minimizing suction head (placing the pump near the water level) is also very important for reducing self-priming time. Self-priming time
is the time that takes the pump to bring water the distance of the suction head during initial operation.

PRE-OPERATION CHECKS
• Check your Water Pump before use and IMMEDIATELY replace any damaged parts.
• Check the general condition of the hoses. Be sure the hoses are in suitable condition before connecting them to the pump.
Remember that the suction hose MUST be reinforced construction to prevent hose collapse.
• Check that the hose connectors and clamps are securely installed.
• Check that the strainer is in good condition and is installed on the suction hose.
• Remove any excessive dirt or debris.
• Place the Water Pump on rm level ground with the engine switched OFF.
• Check the engine oil level. Low oil levels will result in the engine not starting.
• Check the fuel level.
• This equipment is likely to emit a Sound Power Level (LWA) of up to 105dB(A). Wear appropriate ear defenders.
• Be aware of how to stop the Water Pump by use of the ignition switch.

PRIMING THE WATER PUMP
The Water Pump is self-priming, so no action is necessary here.
STOPPING THE ENGINE
To stop the engine in an emergency, simply turn the engine switch to the OFF position. Under normal conditions, use the following
procedure:-
1. Move the throttle lever to the SLOW position.
2. Turn the engine switch to the OFF position.
3. Turn the fuel valve lever to the OFF position.

The engine running speed is pre-set by the manufacturer and must not be adjusted.
CAUTION

Before starting the engine ENSURE you are aware of how to turn the engine correctly.
CAUTION
1. Move the fuel valve lever to the ON position.
2. To start a cold engine, move the choke lever to the CLOSE position.
To restart a warm engine, leave the choke lever in the OPEN position.
3. Move the throttle lever away from the SLOW position, about 1/3 of the way toward
the FAST position.
4. Turn the engine switch to the ON position.
5. Pull the starter grip lightly until you feel resistance, then pull briskly. Return the
starter grip gently.
6. If the choke lever has been moved to the CLOSE position to start the engine,
gradually move it to the OPEN position as the engine warms up.

Service & Maintenance

The Altrad Belle WPX 3/30 Water Pump is designed to give many years of trouble free operation. It is recommended that an
approved Altrad Belle dealer carries out all major maintenance and repairs. Always use genuine Altrad Belle Replacement Parts, the
use of spurious parts may void your warranty.
Before starting any maintenance or repairs ensure the engine is switched o󰀨. On completion of maintenance, check that the Water
Pump functions correctly and that all guards are correctly tted.
Only authorised personell should repair the Water Pump, and within the requirements of the CE/UKCA mark (where applicable),
where no deviation from the original specication must take place.
The maintenance schedule applies to normal operating conditions. If you operate your water pump under severe conditions, such
as sustained high-load or high-temperature operation, or use in unusually wet or dusty conditions, consult your servicing dealer for
recommendations applicable to your individual needs and use.

STORAGE PREPARATION
Proper storage preparation is essential for keeping your water pump troublefree and looking good. The following steps will help to
keep rust and corrosion from impairing your pump’s function and appearance, and will make the engine easier to start when you use
the pump again.
Cleaning
1. Wash the engine and pump.
Wash the engine by hand, and be careful to prevent water from entering the air cleaner or mu󰀪er opening. Keep water away from
controls and all other places that are di󰀩cult to dry, as water promotes rust.
2. Wipe dry all accessible surfaces.
3. Fill the pump chamber with clean, fresh water, start the engine outdoors, and let it run until it reaches normal operating
temperature to evaporate any external water.
4. Stop the engine, and allow it to cool.
5. Remove the pump drain plug, and ush the pump with clean, fresh water. Allow the water to drain from the pump chamber, and
then reinstall the drain plug.
Using a garden hose or high-pressure washing equipment can force water into the engine, causing
damage
CAUTION
6. After the pump is clean and dry, touch up any damaged paint, and coat areas that may rust with a light lm of oil. Lubricate
controls with a silicone spray lubricant.
Fuel
Petrol will oxidize and deteriorate over time whilst in storage. Old petrol will make it harder to start the engine, and it leaves gum
deposits that clog the fuel system. If the petrol in your engine deteriorates during storage, you may need to have the carburetor
and other fuel system components serviced or replaced.
Fuel deterioration problems can be avoided by draining the fuel tank and carburetor prior to storage the water pump for long periods.
Refer to the engine manuals provided for instructions on draining the fuel tank and carburetor.
REMOVAL FROM STORAGE
Refer to the pre-operation checks as mentioned in the Operating Instruction section of this manual.
If the fuel was drained during storage preparation, ll the tank with fresh petrol.
ALWAYS drain water from the pump after operating in cold conditions to preventfrost damage
occurring.
CAUTION
Transport

If the pump has been running, allow the engine to cool for at least 15 minutes before loading the pump on the transport vehicle. A hot
engine and exhaust system can burn you and can ignite some materials.
Keep the pump level when transporting to reduce the possibility of fuel leakage. Move the fuel valve lever to the OFF position.

Your new Altrad Belle Water Pump is warranted to the original purchaser for a period of one-year (12 months) from the original date of
purchase. The Altrad Belle warranty is against defects in design, materials and workmanship.
The following are not covered under the Altrad Belle warranty:
1. Damage caused by abuse, misuse, dropping or other similar damage caused by or as a result of failure to follow assembly,
operation or user maintenance instructions.
2. Alterations, additions or repairs carried out by persons other than Altrad Belle or their recognised agents.
3. Transportation or shipment costs to and from Altrad Belle or their recognised agents, for repair or assessment against a
warranty claim, on any machine.
4. Materials and/or labour costs to renew, repair or replace components due to fair wear and tear.
The following components are not covered by warranty.

Altrad Belle and/or their recognised agents, directors, employees or insurers will not be held liable for consequential or other
