MANUAL IGNITION
ROASTING HOOD COOKING !VERY IMPORTANT!
(Only applicable for the GBL003)
BBQ equipped with a roasting hood give the option of cooking with the hood closed
to form an ‘oven’ for roasting food, such as joints of meat, whole chickens, etc. When the
hood is closed, a large amount of heat is trapped inside the BBQ. Thus, it is important
to make sure that the burner is turned to the low position to prevent burning of the food and
damaging the BBQ. Avoid lifting the hood unnecessarily as heat will be lost every time
the hood is opened.
1. Open the gas control valve at the cylinder.
2. Remove the grid. The burners will be visible. First strike a match and hold it approximately
40 mm away from the LEFT hand burner and then turn the LEFT control knob anti clockwise
to the HIGH position
3. If the burner fails to ignite after 5 seconds, turn the control knob to the OFF position and wait
2 minutes. Restart the procedure from step 2. If you fail to ignite your BBQ,
turn the control knob to OFF, close your cylinder and contact your local dealer for service.
In the event of flash back whilst the BBQ is in use, turn all the controls and the cylinder
valve to the ‘OFF’ position. Wait 5 minutes before attempting to relight the BBQ.
If the problem persists, check for blocked ventury ports by removing the burner and cleaning
with compressed air or with a pipe cleaner. Replace burner correctly. If problem persists do not
try to rectify the problem yourself as this could result in serious injury and/or property damage.
Store the appliance in a clean dry environment.
Do not store your gas cylinder in doors. Store in a well ventilated area away from direct sunlight
or an electrical source.
CONNECTING THE GAS CYLINDER TO THE APPLIANCE
This appliance is only suitable for use with LPG. This appliance is fitted with a 2.8kPa low
pressure regulator.
BEFORE USE PLEASE CHECK FOR LEAKS
Never check for leaks with a naked flame, always use a soapy water solution
FLASHBACK (FLAME IN BURNER TUBE)
Consult your local gas dealer.

6
HOW TO CHECK FOR LEAKS
Make 100ml of leak detecting solution by mixing one part washing up liquid with one part
water.
Ensure the control valve is “OFF”.
Connect the regulator to the cylinder.Ensure the connections are secure, before opening the
gas at the cylinder valve.
Brush the soapy solution on to the hose and all joints. If bubbles appear you have a leak, which
must be rectified before use. Re-tighten the clamps or connection nuts.
Retest after fixing the fault. Turn off the gas at the cylinder after testing.
If the detected leak can not be rectified, do not attempt to cure leak but consult your local
REGULATOR AND HOSE

used
CLEANING
Before cleaning burn off any excess residue.
OUTSIDE SURFACE
Use a mild detergent or a baking soda and hot water solution.
Non-abrasive scouring powder can be on stubborn stains, then rinsed with water.
If you notice that the inside surface of the BBQ lid has the appearance of pealing paint,
baked-on grease build up has turned to carbon and is flaking off.
Clean thoroughly with a strong hot soapy water solution. Rinse with water and allow to
dry completely. NEVER USE OVEN CLEANER

7
INTERIOR OF BBQ BOTTOM
Remove residue using a brush, scraper and/or cleaning pad then wash with a soapy water
solution. Rinse with water and allow it to dry.
PLASTIC SURFACES
Wash with a soft cloth and a hot soapy water solution. Rinse with water.
Do not use abrasive cleaners, degreasers or a concentrated BBQ cleaner on plastic parts.
COOKING GRID
Use a mild soapy water solution. Non-abrasive scouring powder can be used on stubborn stains
then rinsed with water.
GREASE TRAY
Please do not remove the grease tray during use.
Please check the grease tray regularly and clean out the oil.
CLEANING THE BURNER ASSEMBLY
Turn the gas OFF at the control knob and disconnect the cylinder.
Clean the burner with a soft brush or blow clean with compressed air and wipe down with
a clean cloth.
Clean any clogged ports with a pipe cleaner or stiff wire (such as an opened paper clip).
Inspect the burner for any damage (cracks or holes). If damaged, replace with a new burner.
Re-install the burner, check to ensure that the gas valve orifices are correctly positioned
and secured inside the burner inlet (venturi).
In some cases your BBQ will flash back because of an insect having crawled inside the
burner venturi or a spider spinning its web inside the burner. This can be rectified by using
a bottle brush inserted through the burner venturi and pushing it into the burner over the burner
length. If condition persists consult your gas dealer.
