The speed control knob on the base of the food processor has 4 posions, providing you
with ngerp control of operaon.
Funcons
The 3 Cup Food Processor is a kitchen tool that aims to help you prepare food quicker
and with less eort than by hand. The primary funcon of the 3 Cup Food Processor is
to help chop food, while secondary funcons include shredding and slicing of foods.
Helpful Tip: Select fresh foods that are rm and not overripe.
1. PULSE: Use the PULSE funcon for short bursts of power at the opmum speed. This
funcon is controlled by the user, which means the PULSE funcon will operate for as
long as the speed control knob is held in the PULSE posion. The food processor will
shut o as soon as pressure on the speed control knob is released. This funcon is a
useful way to avoid over-processing foods, since you control the processing duraon
and frequency of pulses by the length of me and rate you hold the speed control
knob.
Helpful Tip: Allow enough me between pulses to let food in the processing bowl fall to
the boom.
2. OFF: The OFF posion is used to turn o the food processor aer the unit has nished
processing the food. To turn the power base o, move the speed control knob to the
OFF posion, and then unplug the food processor from the electrical outlet.
3. LOW: Turning the speed control knob to LOW oers connuous operaon at a slower
speed (approximately 2300 RPM) and is generally used for soer foods.
4. HIGH: Turning the speed control knob to HIGH oers connuous operaon at a higher
speed (approximately 3100 RPM) and is generally used for harder foods or for shorter

1. Knife Blade Aachment
The knife blade aachment is the most versale of all the aachments. The food
texture achieved is determined by the processing duraon. For coarser textures, use
the PULSE funcon and regularly check the consistency to avoid over-processing foods.
The knife blade aachment can be used to process various foods, including:
• Raw meat: Make ‘mince’ by trimming raw meat of any excess fat and cung
into cubes up to ¾-inch in size. Place the pieces into the bowl and operate for
approximately 10 seconds or unl the desired texture is achieved. The longer the
food processor runs, the smoother the texture will be.
• Cooked meat: Follow the instrucons for raw meat, but use a shorter me to
process the meat.
• Vegetables: Cut the vegetables into smaller pieces up to ¾-inch cubes. Process
foods with similar texture together (e.g., harder vegetables like carrots and
potatoes or soer vegetables like mushrooms, tomatoes or cooked vegetables).
2. Reversible Plate Aachment
• Slicing Plate: Use the slicing plate for foods like cheese, carrots, potatoes, cabbage,
cucumber and onions.
• Shredding Plate: Use the shredding plate to grate cheese, carrots, potatoes and
foods of similar texture.
Helpful Tip: Shred hard cheese (e.g., parmesan) at room temperature. If you are shredding
soer cheeses (e.g., mozzarella) place the cheese in the freezer for approximately 10
to 15 minutes before shredding. Ensure the shredding plate is secured onto the plate
carrier and the power base is running before inserng the food to be shredded into the
feeder tube.
3. Feed Tube with Food Pusher
The food pusher is used together with the reversible plate aachment to shred or
slice food via the feed tube. ALWAYS use the food pusher to gently guide food down
the feed tube to safely facilitate the processing of food. Press rmly and evenly on the
food pusher, but DO NOT force it down the feed tube. NEvER use your ngers or other
utensils to push food down through the feed tube.
Helpful Tip: Use fresh ingredients and cut the food into smaller pieces to comfortably

ll the width of the feed tube (i.e., avoid cung the food too small) to prevent the food
from turning or lng sideways during processing. When slicing thinner vegetables, cut
them just short of the length of the feed tube, and then insert them vercally into the
tube so they cannot turn or lt.
Use
Operaon
Danger of personal injury or damage to food processor due to improper use.
The 3 Cup Food Processor is not suitable for processing, crushing or grinding coee
beans, spices, frozen foods, ice, cereals, rice or converng granulated sugar to caster
sugar. In addion, DO NOT process boiling liquids or thin liquids such as water or milk.
1. Assemble the food processor using either the knife blade or reversible plate
aachment.
2. For the knife blade aachment, add the ingredients or food to be processed into
the bowl. DO NOT exceed the recommended maximum quanes of the bowl; the
bowl is marked with maximum dry and liquid quanes to prevent overloading.
Helpful Tip: For best results, cut food into smaller pieces that are similar in size, up to
¾-inch cubes. When chopping herbs, ensure they are as dry as possible. Addionally,
remove seeds, pits and cores from hard fruits or vegetables.
3. For the reversible plate aachment, select the desired plate and t it onto the
plate carrier with the cung side facing upwards toward the feed tube. ALWAYS
handle the reversible plate by the rim; avoid touching the sharp cung blades. If
necessary, cut pieces of food to t the feed tube. When using the shredding plate,
ll the feed tube almost to the top. When using the slicing plate, pack the food in
an upright posion inside the feed tube; the height of the food should be slightly
shorter than the feed tube.
Helpful Tip: When slicing or shredding, food placed upright is cut shorter than food
placed horizontally. Addionally, remove seeds, pits and cores from hard fruits or
vegetables.
4. Ensure the food processor is plugged in. The food processor will not start if the
bowl and the lid are not properly aligned and locked into the power base.
5. DO NOT use the food processor without either the knife blade or the reversible
plate (with the slicing or shredding disc) aachments installed.
Helpful Tip: To prevent food or liquids from spilling out, leave the food pusher inside
the feed tube when not in use.
6. Use the speed control knob to select a speed: LOW, HIGH, or PULSE
Helpful Tip: The food processor will not work if both the bowl and lid are not aligned
properly.

18
7. The LOW and HIGH funcons are used when shredding, slicing or mixing for more
than a few seconds. DO NOT operate the food processor connuously for more
than one minute. If the food processor runs for an exceponally long me when
processing thick or heavy mixtures in successive batches, the power base may
overheat.
Helpful Tip: DO NOT allow food to build up to the underside of the reversible plate –
empty the bowl regularly.
8. Use the PULSE speed for short bursts; the PULSE will operate for as long as the
speed control knob is held in the PULSE posion. When using the PULSE funcon,
turn and hold the speed control knob to the le. The food processor will
automacally shut o as soon as the speed control knob is released.
Helpful Tip: Be careful to not over-process the food. The PULSE funcon oers the best
control when using the food processor.
9. When using the slicing or shredding plate, apply even pressure to push food down
through the feed tube using the food pusher while the food processor is running at
the selected speed.
Helpful Tip: Longer shreds can be obtained by stacking pieces horizontally in the feed
tube (e.g., carrots).
10. When adding liquids while processing, carefully pour them through the feed tube
in a slow, steady stream. To prevent spills when adding our, sugar and other
dry ingredients while processing, use a funnel with the feed tube. When adding
smaller pieces of food like cheese, meat or garlic cloves, simply drop them through
the open feed tube.
Helpful Tip: Adding liquids while processing is especially useful when making sauces,
bread dough, cakes and many other recipes.
11. The OFF posion is used to turn o the food processor aer the unit has nished
processing the food.
Danger of personal injury due to improper use.
NEvER unlock the lid while the food processor is operang or with either the knife
blade or reversible plate aachment spinning.
12. Use the speed control knob to turn o the food processor, and then unplug the
unit from the electrical outlet.
13. To remove the lid, push the raised locking tab on the lid clockwise (i.e., right), as
shown in Figure I on p. 19, to release the safety interlock mechanism from the
bowl. DO NOT remove the lid and bowl together; this may damage the safety
interlock mechanism.
Operaon

19
Danger of personal injury due to unintended use.
ALWAYS ensure the 3 Cup Food Processor is switched o and unplugged, and that the
aachment has stopped spinning, before removing the lid.
14. If applicable, remove the reversible plate aachment by its plasc stem and the
plate carrier before removing the bowl. If the knife blade aachment was used,
remove the bowl before removing the knife blade. This will prevent food or liquids
from leaking through the center opening of the bowl. To unlock, turn the handle of
the bowl clockwise (i.e., right) and li the bowl straight up. If the knife blade holds
the bowl in a locked posion, gently jiggle its plasc stalk to help disengage the
bowl from the drive sha.
15. Empty the processed food inside the bowl. If the knife blade aachment was used,
make sure it does not fall out as you empty the bowl.
Helpful Tip: There will always be a small amount of food excess on the reversible plate
or in the bowl aer processing; this is normal. A food scraper or spatula may be used
only when the food processor is turned o and unplugged. Use the food scraper or
spatula to carefully remove food from around the aachment.
16. Thoroughly clean the food processor and store it in a cool, dry locaon when not
in use.
NOTE: DO NOT wash parts in dishwasher.
Helpful Guidelines
Guidelines for Chopping, Puréeing and Mixing
1. Cut food into ¾-inch pieces. To achieve a more even chop, start with pieces that
are all the same size.
2. Place the cut pieces into the processing bowl with the knife blade aachment
installed. It is recommended to process 1 cup of food at a me; if you need to
process more, do it in batches.
3. Lock the lid onto the bowl, insert the food pusher into the feed tube, and then
plug the food processor into the electrical outlet.
4. Turn and hold the speed control knob to the PULSE posion and then release it.
Repeat this process two to three mes. Each me the knife blade stops, let the
food drop to the boom of the bowl before pulsing again; this ensures that the
blade will eecvely chop the food at every pulse.
Operaon
I

20
Operaon
5. Carefully observe the food with the pulse/chopping technique to achieve a more
even chop without the risk of over-processing the food. Check the texture of the
food to prevent over-processing. For a coarse chop, pulse the food only a few
mes.
6. For a ner chop or purée, turn the speed control knob to the LOW or HIGH
posion, and let the food processor run connuously unl the food is nely
chopped or smoothly puréed to your preference. Check the texture of the food
to prevent over-processing. Use a food scraper or spatula to scrape down any
pieces of food that sck to the inside of the bowl. Foods with high water content
(e.g., onions) turn into a smooth purée very quickly; carefully observe the food to
prevent over-processing.
7. Various condions may aect your food processing results, including:
• The size of food pieces placed into the bowl
• The amount of food to be processed
• The processing speed or seng used
Guidelines for Consistent and Uniform Slices or Shreds
1. Choose food with care; fruits and vegetables should be fresh, rm and not overripe.
2. Prepare the food before processing. Remove large, hard pits and seeds. When slicing,
cut one end at and place into the feed tube with the cut side facing down.
3. Pack the feed tube carefully. Food should t into the feed tube snugly, but not so
ght that it prevents the food pusher from moving.
4. Pack feed tube for desired results. For small, round slices or shorter shreds from
carrots, zucchini and other long vegetables, cut them into smaller and equal
lengths, and then pack them ghtly in an upright posion. For longer slices or
shreds, cut the food into smaller and equal lengths, and then stack the pieces
horizontally in the feed tube.
5. Adjust the pressure on the food pusher based on the food texture. Use light pressure
for so fruits and vegetables, such as bananas, strawberries, mushrooms and
tomatoes, as well as for all types of cheeses. Use medium pressure for harder
fruits and vegetables, including apples, celeries, citrus fruits, potatoes and zucchinis.
Use rm pressure for really hard vegetables like carrots and yams.
