Fixed Thermal Imaging SystemInstallation Guide
1 Introduction
This Installation Guide gives instructions on how to install the Land Fixed
Thermal Imaging System incorporating FTI-E cameras.
There are two systems covered in this Installation Guide:
• FTI-E Fixed Thermal Imaging System
• SDS-E Slag Detection System
These instructions are provided as a series of simple installation diagrams,
covering the installation of the FTI-E and SDS-E thermal camera and its
mountings, accessories and services.
The only installation difference is the standard FTI-E enclosure is shown in
Fig. 2, whereas the SDS-E rugged enclosure is shown in Fig. 3.

SDS-E Slag Detection System.
The equipment must be used, maintained and serviced by properly trained
personnel, capable of following the procedures given in these instructions.
Safety may be impaired if the system is not used as indicated.
It is important to check the equipment with which you have been supplied
and then read these instructions thoroughly before proceeding with operation.

1.2 General Precautions
If the camera is operating in ambient temperatures in excess of 40°C / 105°F,
or if the system is exposed to high levels of radiant heat, a water-cooled plate
or air cooling system must be used.
The air purge is highly recommended to provide a clean window on the
environmental enclosure.
Caution
Do not use the system in an atmosphere containing corrosive dust or
mists.
1.3 Maintenance
The body of the thermal imager can be cleaned by wiping it with a clean cloth
moistened with either water or a mild, neutral detergent. Windows can be
cleaned by wiping them with a lens tissue. For stubborn dirt on the lenses
a lens cleaner may be used if desired. DO NOT use alcohol, chemicals or
abrasive cleaning products.
The recommended calibration interval for this system is 12 months. Hoses
