16. MESSAGE PLAYER (MR1301)
Ribbon connection cable is provided for expanding output zones. Please refer to “cascading the unit”.
PD series of paging mic can be connected through this dedicated port. For short distance connection to PD, the power supply shall be drawn
directly from the port. “See section ‘9’ connecting the units”
18. OUTPUT CHANNELS
17. ETHERNET PORT
Connectivity to network switch.
Audio output is balanced line level signal. Each individual output can have its level preset at the front panel, including the bass and treble
control.
The external message playback signal shall be balanced line level, see also section ‘8’ “connecting the units”.
It is dedicated port for connecting EP1200 directly to matrix with the following pin configurations:-
Pin 1 - Data A
Pin 2 - Data B
Pin 3 - NC
Pin 4 - Ground
Pin 5 - +24V Supply
Pin 6 - Audio -ve output
Pin 7 - Ground
Pin 8 - Audio +ve Output
Please connect EP1200 to this designated port and PD mic to ‘Remote Paging Mic’ port only. Wrong connection may cause damage to the
equipment.
Note:
It allows connection of external source of balanced line or mic inputs. Mic audio to use XLR connectors while line level signal to use 1/4” phone jack ( stereo
phone jack ).

3. REMOTE TRIGGER ( OPTIONAL )
To Message Recorder etc, the ports are triggered using a dry contact. The action that shall
follow would be according to the setup done for the remote trigger, eg; installation of
MR1301 to MxP2288 would require an audio in and a dry contact. “Please refer to section
8” connecting MR1301.

There are 4 ports available in the controller.
Setting of the ports’
behavior is done through
web browser.
Please refer to the section

4. RS485 DATA
UART ( RS485 ) data available for connection to RP1104, zone decoders etc. As the unit’s controlling features can be accessed via web browser, we recommend
using this method to perform controls.
Use a cat5e cable to connect EP1200 to the controller.
Activation of EP1200 shall automatically mute all other inputs and redirect them to EP1200 for
highest priority announcement.

FAIL SAFE FEATURE
MxP2288 has advanced feature of fail safe operation. If the unit is faulty digitally or if it is
totally shut down, EP1200 shall still be able to page, bypassing the controller, feeding the
audio signal directly to power amplifiers.
Note: Connect EP1200 to the dedicated port only and NOT the “Remote Paging Mic” jack.
5. CONNECTING EP1200 EMERGENCY PAGING MIC
EP1200 can be connected directly to MxP2288 and whenever it is activated, all outputs will be overrided. Activation of EP1200 will also provide a dry contact which
will be used for variety of purpose, such as overriding volume controller, triggering All Call at external zone selectors, etc. ( See section 6 )

MxP2288
MxP2288
MxP2288
Amperes PD series of paging mics are compatible with MxP2288
and can be connected directly using RJ45 jack for short distance.
The power for paging mic is drawn from the controller.
For longer distance, use 2 pair screen cable with external power
through EX2800.
Short distance connection and without interference
route ( < 30m ), no external power is required using
Cat5e / 6 cable.
UTP cable is not suitable for long distance connectivity ( typically over
50m to 300m ) as interference to audio quality may be created. Use
2 pair screen cable or min 22 awg.
Very often multi point paging is required in a setup. use the
connection shown here.
It is recommended to use regulated DC power supply such as Amperes PS9400, which has fast switching to back up DC in case of mains failure, ensuring
continuous uninterrupted operation of the device.
Pin header configurations
All device audio and data is transmitted to cascade unit via 26 way ribbon
cable through IDC connectors. Max link is 12 units.
Each controller shall be assigned own unique IP address to the network
switch. See also device configurations at Page 14.
