Which mode is on ?
Reception and interference problems are often
connected and can only be solved if the system is
perfectly configured. This can only be achieved by
adjusting a series of settings.
The problems occur in which frequencies :
AM (PO/GO).
FM.
DAB+.
DRM.
Power SuPPlyPower SuPPly
AudioAudio
Recommendation :
If reception is poor, switch on local mode (local
mode automatically switches off DX mode). This
prevents the tuner from selecting stations with poor
reception.
Reception and inteRfeRenceReception and inteRfeRence
1/21/2
For reference :
TA and PTY do not affect reception. They are only used to choose to receive only stations that broadcast
trafc information (TA mode), or to sort the stations to receive only those stations broadcasting a given type
of music or only news (PTY mode).
>See Mode activation method.Have you changed the volume setting ?
DX mode is on.
(Tuner set to high selectivity).
Local mode is on.
(Tuner set to low
selectivity).
TA mode is on.
TA and TP modes
(trafc Announcements,
trafc Program). This
setting selects stations
broadcasting trafc
information. The radio
cannot receive any other
stations unless TP is set to
TA Alarm.
PTY mode is on.
Recommendation :
Avoid switching the PTY
function on, as you may
inadvertently delete your
favorite stations. The
radio only receives the
stations requested by the
PTY mode (classic, rock,
etc.).
The AP mode.
Alternative Frequencies,
AF, is the main function
of the RDS system. The
stations send a list of
alternative frequencies
to inform the car
radio of the channels
broadcasting the same
program that can be
used.
Recommendation :
Switch off AF mode.

Operating environment :
The weaker the emitter’s signal, the higher the level of interference
with the signal emitted by the radio station.
Flashing light :
> We recommend quality and ltered ashing lights.
> Certain makes emit so much interference, that even with a
perfect conguration, the radio only picks up the interference.
In this case, the ashing light(s) form a genuine radio wave
barrier.
>This problem can be limited by using an aerial that is
higher that the ashing lights by at least 60 cm.
>Filter the ashing light.
>See Aerial installation guide.
Other sources of interference :
> To identify the source of the interference : disconnect the fuses
one by one (or switch off the equipment), until the car radio
starts working normally again (the interference disappears).
In this way, you can identify the source of the interference:
ashing lights, air conditioning, engine, fan motor, PTO, meter,
etc.

Geographical environment :
> Mountains or valleys :
>It is sometimes preferable to choose a nearby frequency
for the required station, whose signal may be weaker
but exposed to less interference from natural elements
(mountains).
> Switch the functions on / off :
>The appliance measures the signal peak. If the signal
is weak (poor reception), the muting (Local mode)
deletes the station, because the level of the signal is
too low.
> RDS :
>In this case, the RDS system is not always adapted to these
conditions and does not perform its function, which consists in
switching to a nearby frequency. Since the signal is weak, the RDS
signal is non-existent, whereas the station can be picked up. In this
case, you can also switch off the radio’s AF function, which prevents
unwanted searches.
>Conversely, in DX mode, the radio picks up all the stations,
even if they are weak. In this case, users may think that the
radio’s reception is poor, whereas it is the station’s signal
that is too weak for quality sound.
>If the signal is weak, you can switch off the STEREO mode
for easier listening.

Position :
> As close to the center of the ceiling as possible.
Incline :
> 90° Vertical.
Mirror surface (ground) :
Essential : The base of the aerial must be installed on a metal roof.
If the roof is made of plastic :
> The poor reception kit is specially designed for congurations
without a mirror surface.
>See Mirror surface on next page.
> Installations directly on the chassis are acceptable (mounted
on a mast).
> A grounding braid as far as the chassis is highly recommended.
> Electronic aerials are denitely not recommended
because they also amplify induced and existing radiated
interference.
Cable route :
> The aerial cable must be straight and must not follow or
cross electric or speaker wires, relays, motors, etc.

> The length must be adapted to the distance between the
radio and the aerial, with no excess.
Length :
> The aerial must be long enough to be higher that the ashing
lights (23,6» above the ashing lights).
Recommendation : We recommend rigid aerials with an
integrated coil, which theoretically extends the length of the
aerial and offers an excellent noise-to-signal ratio.

> not too close to a source of sound.
Installation :
The microphone cable must be connected to the cable proved on the
rear of the radio.
No AMS car radios have a microphone input on the front panel
or a microphone built into the front panel due to their poor
performance.
> The microphone cable :
>must not run parallel with cables conveying strong
currents.
>must be as taut as possible. Any excess cable should be
laid out in a zigzag, and not wound up into a coil.
> not too close to an air or air conditioning vent.
>The microphone picks up the noise made by the air.
>The ow of air forms a barrier that prevents the sound
waves from getting through.
> not too close to the speakers or in the line of the speakers.
