AMX AXC-SMP User manual

Quick Start Guide
AXC-SMP SMPTE Time Code
Audiovisual events, multi-image presentations, and multi-scene lighting
events require a standardized method of synchronizing material for presen-
tations and performances. The Society of Motion Picture and Television
Engineers (SMPTE) has formulated an industry-wide standard by a digital
encoding/decoding process. The AXC-SMP SMPTE Time Code Card can
receive time code from any audio source such as videotape, audio reel-to-
reel, and cassette decks, allowing precise synchronization of Axcess func-
tions and other events.
Specifications
Pinouts
The following table shows the AXC-SMP pinouts.
Programming
The AXC-SMP uses the Axcess programming language. For more informa-
tion, refer to the Axcess Programming Language instruction manual.
The table below lists the Send_Commands available to the AXC-SMP.
Specifications
Power Requirement 45 mA @ 12 VDC
Indicators CR1: transmitting SMPTE data
CR2: receiving SMPTE data
Data Output SMPTE time code (HH:MM:SS:FF) word representing time
in hours, minutes, seconds, and frames.

Send_Commands
TIME
Programs card to
Push the specified
channel upon match
of the specified
incoming time.
If another TIME command is received with the same Push
channel, the new time will replace the previous one.
Syntax:
’TIME <PUSH channel>-<hh:mm:ss.ff>’
Vari ables:
hh = Hours
mm = Minutes
ss = Seconds
ff = Frames
Example:
’TIME 2-01:06:05.15’
Sends a PUSH of channel 2 when time equals 1 hour, 6 min-
utes, 5 seconds, and frame 15.
CLEAR Clears all Time commands.
FRAME Commands the card to send the current incoming time to the
Master Card as a string in the format "hh:mm:ss.ff" which rep-
resents hours, minutes, seconds, and frames, respectively.
FRAME ON
Commands the card
to send the current
incoming time to the
master as a string at
the optional peri-
odic time rate.
Default with no rate specified is 1 second.
Syntax:
’FRAME ON (-<rate>)’
Vari ables:
rate = rate 1 - 255 in tenth seconds
Example:
’FRAME ON-5’
Sends the incoming time every 0.5 second.
FRAME OFF Cancels a FRAME ON command.
SEND ON
Begins generating
outgoing time code.
Begins generating at the optionally specified time. If no time is
specified, then the first SEND ON command after power-up
will start at time "00:00:00.00"; otherwise, time continues from
where the last SEND OFF command stopped it.
Syntax:
’SEND ON (-<hh:mm:ss.ff>)’
Send_Commands (Cont.)
SEND OFF Discontinues or pauses generating outgoing time code.
Syntax:
’SEND OFF’
TFRAME Sends the current outgoing time to the Master Card as a
string in the format "hh:mm:ss.ff".
Syntax:
’TFRAME’
TFRAME ON
Sends the current
outgoing time to the
Master Card.
Sends it as a string at the optional periodic time rate; the
default with no rate specified is one second.
Syntax:
’TFRAME ON (-<rate>)’
Variables:
rate = rate 1- 255 in tenth seconds
TFRAME OFF Cancels a TFrame On command.
Syntax:
’TFRAME OFF’
RXON Only sets (internally) bit 3 of INPUT STATUS.
RXOFF Only clears (internally) bit 3 of INPUT STATUS.
