USING T E SOFTWARE
CONFIG RATION TAB
The onfiguration tab ontains ontrol to onfigure the
AD7606. Options available to the user are Sampling Rate,
oversampling, range, and onvert start pulse width.
Sampling rate
This ontrol is used to in rease the rate of onvert start pulses
to the AD7606. The ontrol will a ept values from 769-200000
Hz. If oversampling is enabled the maximum limit of sampling
is de reases.
Oversampling
The oversampling he kbox is used to enable and disable
oversampling and hoose from rates of oversample by 2, 4, 8,
16, 32 & 64. See the datasheet for more information on the
digital filter profile. The maximum output datarate of the
AD7606 is limited by the sele ted oversampling rate
Range
The range he k box is used to alter the signal analysis
al ulations for the Histogram, Waveform, and FFT windows.
The range pin is not hardwired to a GPIO pin. The range is
sele ted by inserting either R1 or R2 resistor to tie the pin to
DGND or VDRIVE. The default range is ±10V.
Convst
The Convst ontrol is used to vary the onvert start pulse width.
This is set to 50ns default.
DATA CAPT RE TAB
In the Data Capture tab, the user an sele t the number of
samples to be aptured from the drop-down menu. The
default number of samples is 4096; you are free to hange
this as required. The desired display option is sele ted by
li king any one of the Waveform, Histogram, or FFT tab.
Waveform Tab
The Waveform tab displays a digital storage os illos ope
(DSO) that allows you to display a waveform. Samples are
displayed here when uploaded from the EVAL-SDP-CB1Z
board. The samples are displayed as integer ode values.
At the bottom left of the graph are the zoom options. These
allow you to zoom in and out to get a loser look at a sample.
The Waveform Analysis se tion, whi h is lo ated beneath the
waveform graph, ontains information about the samples taken;
for example, minimum/maximum position or velo ity, the
spread, the standard deviation, and the mean.
The waveform graph displays the information for all 8 input
hannels or as many hannels as desired. Eight buttons lo ated
to the right hand side of the graph, labeled ADC 1 On/ Off to
ADC 8 On/Off are used to sele t whi h hannel’s data is
displayed. An indi ator, lo ated beneath the graph, shows what
olor graph represents ea h hannel when the data from several
hannels is displayed.
istogram Tab
The Histogram tab displays a histogram of the aptured ADC
odes. It an be used to give an indi ation of the performan e
of the ADC in response to d inputs. The Histogram Analysis
se tion ontains information about the samples taken; for
example, maximum and minimum odes aptured.
FFT Tab
The FFT tab displays an fast Fourier transform (FFT) plot.
The FFT is typi ally used for examining the performan e of
the ADC in the frequen y domain. The pectrum Analysis
se tion ontains information about the samples taken, su h
as a spe ifi ations (see Figure 12).
You an hoose whether to display the information for one,
several or all eight hannels in the window using the ADC 1
On/ Off to ADC 8 On/Off buttons, as explained in the
Waveform Tab se tion.
TAKING SAMPLES
To initiate a onversion and apture the sample data, li k the
ample button or the Continuous button. Both the ample
and the Continuous buttons are lo ated on the top right hand
orner of the Data Capture tab. When you li k the ample
button, the software instru ts the EVAL-SDP-CB1Zboard to
take the required number of samples at the required frequen y
from the evaluation board. The EVAL-AD7606 runs with
sampling speeds less than or equal to 200 kSPS. You an hoose
