TheSUPERAFCIIisafueladjustmentcontrollerinwhichtheairflowsensorsignalorthep
ressuresensorsignalcanbemodifiedina12pointRPMrangeby1%incrementstoincreas
e/decreasefuelinarangeof+50%to−50%.TheRPMtobecorrectedcanbeoptionallyse
tin200RPMincrements,andcorrectionscanbemadeaccordingtothrottleopeningamoun
ts.Inaturboequippedvehiclewithahotwiretypeairflowmeter,thiscontrollerprovidesa
preventivefunctionforenginestallduetoblow-backduringthrottlereturn.Thecontroller,
whichincludesaknockingmeter,allowsthemonitoringofknocklevelscheckkeepingtheen
gineunderitsoptimumconditionatalltimes.(Vehiclemusthaveafactoryknocksensor)
●Thisproductcannotbeusedforanyapplicationotherthanthevehicles

■Unconventionallargescreenmonitorusingahigh-brightnessVFD
Thefuturisticfrontfaceofthisunitusesthelargescreen,high-brightnessandeasyto
readVFD(VacuumFluorescentDisplay)
Use of the dot-matrix large screen monitor allows the displaying several types of
informationsimultaneously.Displayvariationsarenotlimitedtoonlynumericvalue
display,butalsographdisplay,analogdisplay,andothervariousdisplaysareshown.
Thisallowsthedrivertorecognizeimportantinformationinaninstant
■Utilizesathincaseandsinglebutton
Athincaseof52mm(L)×126mm(W)×18mm(D)(Minimum)hasbeenachievedbyop
timizationofthecircuitboardandcasedesign.Theproductcanbeeasilyinstalledont
hesteeringcolumnordashboard.Sincethereisnoseparateunitbesidesthemainunit
itisnotnecessarytosecureaplaceforinstallinganyseparateunit.Usinga4-direction
switchwithacenterpushbuttonandarotaryswitchgetsridofthebutton-to-button
distanceandpermitsquickoperations,therebyprovidingefficientoperationoftheunit
■Battery-lessmemorythatcankeepinitialsetupdatainthememoryevenif
thevehiclebatteryisdisconnected
WiththeuseoftheEEPROM,theinitialsetupdataisnotlostunlessinitializationisperf
ormed,evenifthepowersupplyisturnedofforthevehiclebatteryisdisconnected.The
settingdata,suchaspeakvalueandcorrectionvalue,isneverlost.Accordingly,ifthe
vehiclebatteryisdisconnectedforserviceinspection,initialsetupandsettingsdonot
needtobeperformedagainandthedatahistoryisnotlost

■Storingtwopatternsofsettingdatainthememory
Twopatternsofsettingdataincludingaircorrectionfactor,throttleopening,aircorrecti
onenginerevolutionspeed,decelerationairupperlimit,etc.canbestoredinthememory.
Therearetwofilesthatcanbestoredinthememory.Thesettingdatacanbeselectedi
naninstantaccordingtoeachdrivingstagesuchascircuitdriving,towndriving,andwi
ndingdriving.Whendrivingonthesamestage,twopatternsofsettingdatacanbecom
pared.Thesepatternsofsettingdatacanbeusedforvariouspurposes
■Settingdisablefunctionbypassword
Ifthesettingdataorinitialsetpointsarechangedbymisoperationormischief,thecarc
onditionmaybedeteriorated,orintheworstcase,theenginemaybedamaged.IntheS
AFC2II,whentheusersetsapasswordoptionally,changingthesettingdataorinitialse
tupitemsisdisabled

Itispossibletosetwarningvaluesfortheairflowusingratio,suctiontubepressure,Kar
manswirlsensorfrequency,knocking,andenginerevolutionspeed
Wheneachitemisset,thecarconditioncanbepreciselyjudged.Thesettingfortheeng
inespeedcanalsobeusedasashifttimingpoint
◆Knocking
Spontaneousignitioniscausedbytheheatandpressureofmixedairintheburning
portionofnon-combustiongasfarfromtheplugandtheheatofcombustionchamber
wall,sothatthegasinthewholecombustionchambergenerateshigh-pressurewaves
momentarily.Inthisphenomenon,strongmetallicnoiseisoutputfromtheengineunlike
carknockingbywhichthecarbodybecomesjerky,withtheresultthatthevalveis
damagedandthepistonisseized,therebygivingfataldamagetotheengine.
As countermeasures, fuel adjustment, ignition timing adjustment, compression ratio
adjustment,improvementofintake-sidesquisharea,useofmirrortypecombustionroom
wall,andprofileimprovementoftheexhaust-sidecamshaftcanbementioned
