Your hive is already assembled and is almost
ready to go. Please follow the instructions
to remove the Sliding Pollen Trap from the
bottom board and put the Red Plug in before
introducing the bees to the hive.
If using queen excluder,
make sure to:
1. Have the spacing pins facing down
2. Use the bottom slot of the latch (2a)
3. When queen excluder is
not installed, use the top slot
of the latch (2b)

USING BOTTOM BOARD 1
Bottom board is mounted
on the brood box.
Includes pollen trap (a) and
tray (b), red pollen trap plug
(c), and screened bottom
board (d).
To enable pollen collection, the trap
should be inserted all the way in.
The pollen can be gathered from
the drawer below.
To disable the pollen trap, pull it out
completely as shown on right.
NOTE: Pollen is essential for bees! Enable
the pollen trap (a) only when there is high
pollen flow. It is not recommended to use it
continuously. Please research about pollen
collection before enabling the pollen trap

USING HIVE ENTRANCE
2 sliders are used as entrance reducers
2 single holes above the outmost
entrances are for drones
2 notches above the center entrances
are to shut lock the sliders
“Keep the hive entrances wide open when introducing bees to the hive.”

a) Additional hive entrance (horizontal slit on top)
b) Queen entrance for mating flights (big hole on top)
c) Ventilation (small holes on top)

HANDY FRAMES ASSEMBLY
Apimaye offers two different kinds of plastic frames.
Handy Frames and Pro Frames. Handy Frames can only take wax foundation,
while Pro Frames can take both plastic and wax foundation. Make sure you use only
beeswax foundation on your handy frames.
1. Your handy frames use
standard deep size wax
foundation (8 1/2″ x 16 3/4″)
2. The handy frames are made of 2
pieces that snap each other.
There are pins at both the top and the
bottom side.
Just split the two pieces and place them
like shown on the left.
Splitting them for the rst time will be
harder, you may want to use a hive tool
or a small knife to make it easier.
Do not split the frames like opening a
book as it may damage the pins at the
bottom. Just try to keep them parallel.
3. Put the wax foundation on top of one
of the halves, and then snap the other
half back on. It should take less than a
minute per frame.
It easy to install plastic foundations
on Pro Frames. Just split the frames
as you do in handy frames. Insert
the plastic foundation and snap the
pieces back.
When installing beeswax foundation
on the Pro Frames, split the 2 pieces,
place the beeswax foundation, press it with your ngers from each
corner to embed the beeswax foundation and snap the other piece
back. (It is important to press the beeswax foundation on the Pro
Frames to prevent the beeswax foundation from sagging.)

You can use

Make sure the pollen
trap is removed
completely and the
slot is closed with
the red plug
To merge 2 colonies,
adjust the circular
gates for the small slots
first, then larger slots a
few days later
Ergo Plus Hives come with two division boards. The division board for the super is
shorter, therefore the two can not be used interchangeably. Make sure you’re using the
right division board.

USING SINGLE TOP FEEDER
To fill the feeder:
1. Remove the feeder top by holding from
the center
2. Put the feed (Syrup or candy)
3. Adjust the feed slot covers according to
the feed. The feeder and these covers are
designed to prevent bee drowning in syrup
3a. If feed is syrup make sure all the writings
“SYRUP” is outwards
3b. If feed is candy make sure all the writings
“CANDY” is outwards so bees can walk
to the center of the feeder
4. Close the feeder top and adjust the
yellow handles to secure slot covers
If you have a hive with a single top
feeder, your feeder has a cover with
yellow handles and 4 adjustable feed
slot covers.
You can not use syrup and candy at the same time in the single top feeder.

USING TOP FEEDER
If you have a hive with a pair of half feeders, each pair has a
cover and 2 adjustable feed slot covers.
To fill the feeders :
1. Remove the feeder cover by holding from the center as shown.
2. Adjust the feed selectors by removing and inserting them into the vertical
slots according to the feed type as follows:
a. If feed is syrup, place all the selectors with the word “SYRUP” away from
the center.
b. If feed is candy, place all the selectors with the word “CANDY” away from
the center.
3. Put in the feed, syrup (as shown below) or fondant / pollen patties.
4. Close the feeder cover.
You can not use syrup and candy at the same time in the single top feeder.

Solid Feeding
The cover reading
“Cake” should be the
outermost cover when
feeding cake.
Built-in feeders of the inner cover enable solid
and liquid feeding without having to open the
hive, while both the hive temperature balance
and the bees remain undisturbed.
