Description of the machine
The Disc-Roller XL Contour is a versatile cultivator. It can be used to mix stubble and other crop
residues with a working depth down to 175 mm in reduced soil working. It is also an outstanding tool
for working ploughed soil prior to sowing.
The high net weight and large discs give highly efficient cutting as well as good compacting of the
processed soil. Despite the spacious design, it is compact and therefore easy to manoeuvre both in
the field and on the road.
The Disc-Roller XL Contour can be fitted with both 610 mm and 570 mm discs. The new, larger disks
penetrate deeper into the soil, where they effectively incorporate plant and stubble material –even
large amounts of crop residues, such as maize stems or cover crops, are incorporated without
problems.
The large discs are staggered, which allows maximum movement and mixing of soil and straw
material, when working the surface, and because the discs are more powerful and designed with
larger teeth that efficiently grip the soil, the risk of them jamming during operation is minimised.
The Disc-Roller XL Contour is designed with a greater depth in the frame structure than smaller disc
harrows to provide room for the large discs and ensure good soil flow. With good soil flow, the plant
material is more easily incorporated, creating optimum conditions for germination.

Preparing the machine

•the machine for possible damages.
•transport damage to paint - to be repaired.
•the hydraulic hoses for cut or pinch damage.
Check that the other hydraulic components are not damaged during transport.
•that the frame structure has not suffered any damage.
•that the transport wheels are fastened and in order.
•air pressure according to technical specifications.
•that all distance clips for depth adjustment are included with the machine.
•traffic light system - to be tested if fitted.

Safety Instructions for Disc-Roller XL Contour
Do not start-up the machine if there are persons in exposed positions* within a hazardous area**.
When persons are in exposed positions (e.g. in connection with adjustment, maintenance, attachment
and uncoupling), the following conditions must be observed:
•The machine must be lowered to firm ground.
•The hydraulics must be relieved.
•The tractor must be stopped and the key removed from the ignition switch.
•The driver must ensure that no persons are staying in exposed positions during the operation.
* Person in exposed position: Any person who is staying wholly or partly
within a hazardous area.
** Hazardous area: On and under the machine within a distance of 4 m from the machine.
Most accidents that happen in connection with the operation, transport and maintenance of machines
are caused by non-compliance with the most elementary safety conditions.
Therefore it is vital that anybody working at the machine carefully complies with the safety instructions
as well as other instructions applying to the machine.
The machine may only be operated, maintained and repaired by persons, who are familiar with this
work and who are further familiar with the possible elements of danger with this particular machine.
ATTENTION !! Rotary parts and loose clothes are a dangerous combination.
IMPORTANT !! In connection with the risk of parts falling down, it may endanger the
lives of persons staying on the base frame of the machine, when it is
operated attached to a tractor.
IMPORTANT!! In connection with transport and storage, the safety lock must be
activated.

Safety and Instructions on Hydraulics
1. The maximum working pressure is 225 bar.
2. It is advisable to label the attachment parts at hydraulic connections between the tractor and
the tool in order to eliminate incorrect operation!
3. When checking for hydraulic leaks, use suitable safety wear (eye protectors, gloves, etc.)
High-pressure hydraulic oil may penetrate the skin and cause dangerous injuries.
In case of injury, consult a doctor immediately. RISK OF INFECTION!
4. After operating the hydraulics, lower the machine to firm ground.
Relieve the hydraulics, stop the motor and remove the ignition key.
5. Check the hydraulic hoses on a regular basis, however, every six months as a minimum due to
any cracks, wear and tear, etc. Replace any defective hoses immediately.
6. The life of hydraulic hoses is maximum 5 years.
New hydraulic hoses must meet the manufacturer's requirements.
Complaints/disposal
2-year guarantee:
2-year guarantee on all material and design defects, provided that HE-VA’s operating instructions are
followed and that only original HE-VA components have been used. Al warranty repair work is only
performed according to a prior agreement with HE-VA and within normal working hours. Machines for
improvement shall be submitted in cleaned condition.
The second year of the guarantee period only includes delivery of components and not replacement
of these.
No compensation for loss of operation and profit or other indirect losses.
With front-mounted tools, HE-VA disclaims any liability for the tractor.
Disposal: When, after many years of use, the machine can be regarded as end-of-life, it must be
handed over to a registered and approved product dealer. This will carry out the statutory draining
and disposal of hydraulic oil, as well as sorting of materials with a view to further processing for
recycling.
INSTRUCTIONS ON TRANSPORT ON THE PUBLIC ROADS
Check before transport on public roads that the attachment of the machine at the tractor is in
accordance with the local rules and regulations in force (permitted total weight, permitted axle load,
transport width, lights, warning signs, etc.).
FRONT AXLE LOAD
After the attachment of the machine and at maximum load, the driving properties of the tractor must be
ensured. Check that the front axle is sufficiently loaded. As a minimum, the front axle load must be 20%
of the tractor weight. Permitted axle load and permitted total weight for the tractor must always be
observed.
NB! The driving, controlling and braking properties are affected by the attached machine
combination.

Labels on the machine
You will find several labels on your Disc-Roller containing safety and practical instructions as regards
the correct application of the machine. Please study the instructions and point out to the user the
importance of the labels as well as the safety instructions in these Operating Instructions. Always
keep the labels clean and readable –if not they must be replaced.

Start-up of the machine
General Information
The machine is supplied as standard in transport position. At start-up, attach the machine to the
tractor.
Important:
The hoses for the drawbar - / wheel cylinder are provided with red cable straps.
The hoses for the folding cylinder are provided with blue cable straps.
The hoses for the disc cylinder are provided with green cable straps.
Attachment
1. Reverse the tractor to the machine.
2. Connect all hydraulic hoses to the tractor outlets.
3. Pressurise the drawbar - and the wheel cylinder (red) so that the machine
drawbar is lifted to the suitable height.
4. Then reverse the tractor and attach the machine.
5. Now lift the machine to maximum height.
Transport position to workposition
1. Important: When unfolding the side sections, the locking claw must first be
relieved by activating the folding function, until the side sections meet the
stop at the center frame. Next, when the unfolding function is activated, the
locking claw then first will open, after which the side sections are unfolding.
2. When the side sections are completely unfolded, let go of the hydraulic handle
and the machine is ready for use.
Always set the tractor’s flow control on MAX, to make sure that the side sections
will follow each other.
3. Unfold the edge equipment to working position.
4. Now lift and lower the discs to the required working depth.
Transport
1. Lift the discs to the top before folding up the machine.
2. Then lift the machine to maximum transport height.
3. Fold up the side sections (blue) towards the stop on the centre frame, and the
locking claw will engage. It is important to check visually that the locking
claw is engaged. The hydraulic system must then briefly be put in the float
position after the locking pawls are engaged, until the locking claw has relieved
the hydraulics.
4. Now the machine is secured and ready for transport.
5. Lower the machine in order to minimise the transport height, to get a point of
gravety as low as possible. Slow and gentle cornering is recommended as
otherwise the machine is at risk to tip over.
Check that the towing hook height is between 500 og 600 mm.
Check that the factory-fitted male quick couplings fit into the tractor's
female quick couplings.

Uncoupling, Trailed Model
1. Lift the machine up and tilt the depth stop on the drawbar forward towards the
tractor.
2. Now lower the machine onto firm ground.
3. Adjust the drawbar –and wheel cylinder (red) so that the drawing bolt is loose.
4. Now the machine may be uncoupled.
5. Drive the tractor a little forward and then relieve all hydraulic hoses.
Important:
Settings and adjustment
When starting the Disc-Roller XL in the field, it is important that the machine is horizontal in relation to
the direction of travel.
The profile roller at the back and the tractor carry the machine, which is crucial for a uniform depth
processing. Support wheels (optional equipment) are not for depth regulation, but only for support
to avoid uneven working depth on the outer discs.
Drawbar
The horizontal position is adjusted on:
by means of distance clips on
the drawbar cylinder
Height of the towing eye:
approx. 500-550 mm
For german towing eye height:
approx. 800 –850 mm
Put the machine on level ground
and relieve the hydraulics, before
leaving the machine.

Disc
The Discs are adjusted up or down by a hydraulic
Master-Slave system.
It is important that the discs are regularly lifted
to the top
to reset the Master-Slave system. The depth position
is readable on the scale (standard).
The sensor can be adjusted, where el. depth stop is
mounted. (additional equipment) It is possible to
over steer the electrical system by turning off the
switch mounted in the cabin, now the discs can pass
the sensor, thereby a deeper
working depth is achieved e.g. at
headland and tramlines.
SAT system:
Hydraulic adjustable weight transfer system, ensuring equal weight transfer in the total working width,
resulting in the fact that the wing sections are following the ground.
Manometer for pressure adjustment on 2-sections machines
During work, the hydraulic pressure will vary according to the ground surface. The pre-set hydraulic
pressure in the working position must be 50 –70 bar.

Edge equipment
The edge equipment can be adjusted in
three places:
1. Two bolts are loosened - move the
arm out / in
2. Use the spindle - raises and lowers
the plate.
Two bolts are loosened -
raise/lower with the spindle and
tighten the bolts again.
3. A bolt is loosened –tilt the plate
more or less.

The disc can be adjusted so that
excavated soil is collected.
Keep the disc away from the ground
to avoid bending when turning.

Scraper
The Disc-Roller XL Contour has special designed scrapers among the packer rings on the single
VProfile and U-Profile as well as on the Wave Roller. To avoid unnecessary wear and to obtain the
best scraper effect it is important to check the centering of the scrapers every day.
Material-damper-guard
The Disc-Roller Contour XL can be equipped with material damper guard, ensuring that excavated
soil from the discs is falling down before packing.
The material damper guard is height adjustable in 5 cm steps, by unlocking 1 pin in each bracket.
To dismount the material damper guard, unlock pins and unbolt.

Maintenance and service
Vigtigt:
After the first 10 hours of operation, re-tension the machine. Hoses, fittings and cylinders are
inspected for any leaks and tightened.
Check regularly that all bolts are tight.
Before winter storage, the machine is washed and lubricated. After washing, the machine may be
injected into oil.
Lubricating
For lubrication, maintenance and repairs, the machine must be lowered, the tractor must be braked
and the engine must be stopped.
On the Disc-Roller XL Contour there are 25 grease nipples on the 4.5 meter and 31 grease nipples on
the 5.5 meter machine
There is 1 grease nipple on each support wheel in the hinge joint. The spindles of the support wheels
should be separated and internally lubricated once a year, (figure 1).
There is 1 grease nipple on each hinge joint of the drawbar (figure 2).
There are 2 on each hydraulic cylinder except the two disc depth adjustment cylinders, which only
have 1 grease nipple at the bushing end, (figures 3 and 4). Figure 4 is the cylinder of the wheel frame.
There is 1 grease nipple in each hinge joint on the wings, 4 pcs. in total, (Figure 3).
There is 1 grease nipple on the hinge joint of the transport wheels, (figure 5).
There is 1 grease nipple on each of the rollers' bearings, which only needs to be lubricated 1 to 2
times per season (figure 6).
Oil, type Hydro Texaco HD 32 has been
filled in the hydraulic system.
