App-Tronics SmartVision Quick start guide

the Smart
Vision
is
recording, you
must
push the DISPLAY button to stop recording.
You
can
then press the
MODE
button
to
enter the menu/setting.

Functions
The
use
of
automatic recording function.
Start the carengine and the Smart
Vision will automatically start recording
(automatic recording function should be setto on). Turn
off
the car engine
and the Smart
Vision will automatically turn off. The recorded image
segmentation is preserved on the TF card. When the TF card storage
is
full, the recorder will overwrite the earlier recorded image.
[Note]
1.
A recording time can be set in the menu in the range
of
1,
3, 5 minutes
or
off.
2. Files are stored by A (front DVR) and B (rear camera)
in
folders
"DCIMA" and "DCIMB" and each folder has subfolders for locked,
normal (video) and photos.
Manual
recording function
Press the power button for 3 seconds and the SmartVision will start.
To
tum
off
the Smart Vision press the power button for 3 seconds.
Using the camera function
Once the SmartVision
is
powered on, short press the camera button
(mode) to go into the camera mode. This will display an icon (camera)
in
the top left comer
of
the screen.
To
take pictures press the display button.
To
change back to the video
mode short press the camera button 2 times.
Motion detection function
In the standby mode, go into the menu/setting mode by long pressing the
mode button. Change auto detect to "on" and when the lens picks up the
movement
of
objects, the Smart
Vision enters the video state and when the
lens senses no movement for 5 seconds it will stop recording. There will
be an icon (person in motion) in the upper left comer when
in
motion
detection mode.
To
exit
or
enter into the motion detection mode, long time
press the up button.
[Note]
This setting is not saved and the next boot up will restore to video mode.

Collision sensing function (G-sensor)
The SmartVision has a built-in collision sensor (G-sensor). In the event
of
a serious vehicle collision, the Smart
Vision will lock the incident and
will record both 10 seconds before and after the image when the
G-sensor is initiated.
An
icon will appear in the bottom left
of
the display
showing a lock icon. These images will save as a special file
and
this file
will not
be
overwritten.
[Note]
1.
These are stored in the
DCIM
folders under the subfolder "locked"
2. The collision sensor (G-sensor) has a sensitivity adjustment and
can
be set in the settings menu.
Key lock function
The SmartVision has a key lock function, in order to retain the locked
image and will not
be
overwritten. In video mode, short pressing the
mode button will lock the recorder for
20
seconds, both 10 seconds
before and after the image.
Date
and
time setting
In standby state press the mode button
to
enter the "Settings"
menu
option. Enter the date and time settings: .short pressing the up/down
buttons moves the cursor up and down.
[Note]
In orderto effectively recordthe date andtime as evidence make sure the
correct date and time are set.
One
key
mute
function
When the SmartVision is powered
on
the icon
bar
on
the bottom has a
microphone icon. When the icon has a line through it, SmartVision is in
mute and when not it is recording audio. Short pressing the up button
turns the audio
on
and off.
[Note]
Settings are automatically saved after re-boot without resetting a mute
function.

U disk mode
The recorded data from the Smart
Vision is stored on the TF card and can be
accessed through a card reader on a computer or Tablet. There are 2 folders:
DCIMA (front DVR) and DCIMB (rear camera). Each folder has 3 subfolders:
locked, normal (video), photos. Data can be copied
or
moved to storage on your
computer and the card can then be reformatted
if
desired.
File playback
With the Smart Vision poweredon and in the standby mode short press the camera
button until file mode. Press up/down buttons to fmd the desired file. Short press
· the display button to play/pause the file.
To
go back to video mode short press the
mode button.
The GPS function
The SmartVision GPS is automatically designed to
tum
on.
If
the GPS is not
connected the icon will flash. The GPS signal may take up to one minute to locate
satellites. Once the GPS indicator icon stops flashing, the GPS signal has been
successful. When the video function is on, the traveling trajectory will
automatically generate the GPS file.
[Note]
GPS file format is dependent on dealer request.
Reversing camera and optional parking sensors
Reversing camera must be installed and wired. The video will automatically
display the reverse camera image when the vehicle is put in R (reverse). Once
taken out
ofR
the SmartVision will automatically return to the record mode. The
current installation guide allows for rear camera to only record when the vehicles
is put into reverse.
If
you desire to record rear camera at all times please follow
the wiring diagram below.
If
you have added on App-Tronics Parking Sensors,
please follow the installation manual included with them. The SmartVision
will display distance
and
location to an object on the screen while in reverse.
Bluetooth function
When the unit is on, the screenhas a Bluetooth icon in the upperright hand comer.
In any mode (video/camera/file) long press the down button to enter and exit
Bluetooth mode. Blue color icon means the Bluetooth is connected. Enter the
search mode on your mobile phone and look for the Bluetooth name
BW
_A and
then enter the default password 0000
if
prompted (the recorder also supports
Bluetooth automatic pairing). Once phone is synced music can be played from
smart-phone playlist, calls will cancel music play.

Installation instructions for
your
Smart

Mirror
installation:
1.
Each Smart
Vision comes with a universal mounting bracketthat fits most cars.
If
you ordered a vehicle specific mount the same installation guidelines may not
apply. (Refer to vehicles manual or consult your dealer for more information).
2. Install the mount that came with your SmartVision using the 4 provided
screws, be sure to tighten firmly but do not over tighten.
3. Remove the factory mirror and install the SmartVision on the existing anchor
attached to the windshield.
If
choosing to use our universal mount with provided
anchor you will need a windshield rear view mirror repair kit. (Not Provided)
4. Next fmd your power source to be used for installation. Each SmartVision
needs both constant and accessory power as well as ground. Each main-·wire
harness has these wires marked clearly. Guide the main harness down the A
or
B
pillar to this location. You can gently remove the weather stripping and tuck into
place then use your fmgers to push harness inside headliner to the mirrors
location.
A.
Using a volt meter locate you constant power source, tap the
Red
wire (12
Volt Positive) into this source. Be sure that this constant power source does not
"go to sleep" after
15
minutes.
B. Use the same process to find an accessory power source (Power only on
while car is running or in accessory keyed position). The Blue wire will need to
be tapped into this source.
C. The Black wire is your ground, locate a strong solid grounding source.
Attach the Blackwire to this location.
Rear
camera
installation:(App-Tronics recommends installation by a
professional service. Go to app-tronics.com and search dealer locator.) Call
1-888-587-4111 for assistance.
1.
Guide the rear camera harness from the end
of
the main harness to the back
of
the vehicle removing trim pieces as needed. Note: Route the correct end to the
back
of
the vehicle. The end with the Black and
Red
wire go to the back end to
tie into reverse bulb.

2. The
Green
wire at the end
of
main harness needs to be tied into the vehicles
reverse relay,
if
it cannot be located you can tie the
Green
wire to the camera
harnesses Red wire coming out
of
the RCA feed. For faster trigger time, tying
into the vehicles reverse relay is the suggested method.
You
will see a Red wire
coming from each end
of
the camera harness.
3. Locate the reversing bulbs power source, the rear cameras harness will have
a Red and Black wire that will need to be tapped into the reversing bulbs
power and ground. This will allow the rear camera to turn on when car is put
into reverse.
You
will need to tie the secondary Redwire coming out
of
the
RCA line to the reverse bulb power source as well.
4. Find a suitable location to attach the rear camerato the vehicle. Depending
on vehicle, cameras may vary. Use the provided double sided tape and screws
provided for installation. (Some trim pieces will need to be removed and then
reinstalled for proper installation).
5. The Rear camera installation above allows for the rear camera to only record
while in reverse.
To
record rear camera
at
all times please follow the diagram
below.
Note:Some
Smart
Vision's come with
rear
cameras
that
do not have
RCA
feeds on both ends.
If
wanting
to
record
rear
image
at
all times you
must
have
this type
of
rear
camera
harness.

STOP! Please read the proper installation guide for the SmartVision. The system is designed to
record both cameras at all times when car is powered on. The below installation is needed to run the
DVR and internal functions correctly. If not installed as shown the system will not operate at
maximum performance and may damage the internal PCB board.

Mirror installation:
1. Each SmartVision comes with a universal mounting bracket that fits most cars. If you ordered a
vehicle specific mount the same installation guidelines may not apply. (Refer to vehicles manual or
consult your dealer for more information).
2. Install the mount that came with your SmartVision using the 4 provided screws, be sure to tighten
firmly but do not over tighten.
3. Remove the factory mirror and install the SmartVision on the existing anchor attached to the
windshield. If choosing to use our universal mount with provided anchor you will need a windshield rear

4. Next find your power source to be used for installation. Each SmartVision needs both constant and
accessory power as well as ground. Each main wire harness has these wires marked clearly. Guide the
main harness down the A or B pillar to this location. You can gently remove the weather stripping and
tuck into place then use your fingers to push harness inside headliner to the mirrors location.
A. Using a volt meter locate you constant power source, tap the Red wire (12 Volt Positive) into
this source. Be sure that this constant power source does not "go to sleep" after 15 minutes.
B. Use the same process to find an accessory power source (Power only on while car is running
or in accessory keyed position). The Blue wire will need to be tapped into this source. You must
also tie in the red pigtail wire from the rear camera harness to the same accessory power source.
Splice the wires together. This will allow the rear camera to stay on while car is running to record.
C. The Black wire is your ground, locate a strong solid grounding source. Attach the Black
wire to this location.
5. The Green wire at the end of main harness needs to be tied into the vehicles reverse relay in the front
of the vehicle, usually located in the cars BCM module., if it cannot be located you can extend the wire
all the way to the reverse bulb in the back of vehicle. This will trigger the rear camera to display when
car is put into reverse.
Rear camera installation: (App-Tronics recommends installation by a professional service. Go to app-
tronics.com and search dealer locator.) Call 1-888-587-4111 for assistance.
1. Guide the rear camera harness from the end of the main harness to the back of the vehicle removing
trim pieces as needed. Note: Route the correct end to the back of the vehicle. You only need to tie the
Red power line for rear camera to the other Red pigtail on the rear camera harness. The camera will be
powered from the blue accessory line on main harness.
3. You may need to also attach the black ground wire for the rear camera yet may not be needed. Please
refer to picture below or call 1-888-587-4111 for assistance
4. Find a suitable location to attach the rear camera to the vehicle. Depending on vehicle, cameras may
vary. Use the provided double sided tape and screws provided for installation. (Some trim pieces will
need to be removed and then reinstalled for proper installation).
The SmartVision must be installed as shown to run properly. Please seek professional assistance if
needed.
