CUSTOMER
Terms and Conditions of Sale
Listed below are some basic operational and installation conditions that must be adhered to for
Aqua Coolers warranty to remain valid and more importantly for trouble free chiller operation.
These are also the conditions under which Aqua Cooler will provide the purchaser with
products
Operation
The units are sophisticated pieces of equipment and must be operated in accordance with the
manner in which they are manufactured. Aqua Cooler warrants these products if they are
installed, commissioned, operated and serviced in a manner consistent with the guidelines set out
in this document. Aqua Cooler will not be liable for products
·Where the minimum flow rate specified in the manual is not maintained through the units at all
times. This applied to units not supplied with a pump.
·Where the commissioning data is not returned to Aqua Cooler or at the very least be retained for
the warranty period of the product to be accessible in the event of a fault developing with the
product.
·Where the operational settings on the controller are altered without first consulting Aqua Cooler
in writing
·Where the temperature cut out set point is set below 5°C without first consulting Aqua Cooler in
writing
·Where the water bypass in the chiller is set to be fully closed without first consulting Aqua Cooler
in writing
·Where the chiller is not installed on level surface
·Where the chiller has not been powered up for at least 4 hours before starting the chiller to allow
for the sump heater to warm the compressor oil.
·Where the pressure in the sealed refrigeration system has not been checked by a refrigeration
mechanic before starting the chiller to ensure that the pressure on the suction side is at least
400kPa for R407c chillers and 200 kPa for R134a chillers
·Where the chiller is installed too close to either other chillers, too close to walls or too close to a
roof or awning to prevent proper ventilation of the cooling system.
·Where the information supplied to Aqua Cooler for specifying the chillers is incorrect with regards
to, but is not limited to, flow rates, ambient operating condition and heat load
·Where the cooling medium used in the product causes corrosion to the product
Service
·Aqua Cooler will not warrant product where service work is not carried out by Aqua Cooler
·Aqua Cooler will only cover costs of refrigerant to the value of the specified charge indicated on
the marking plate of the unit
·Aqua Cooler will pass on extra cost associated with service work carried out on chillers where
neat access to facilitate servicing in a manner that is compliant with safe work practices is not
provided. This also includes additional charges will apply for sites where access to the chiller is
unsafe or restricted
·Aqua Cooler takes no responsibility for repairs carried out on the chiller by un-authorised service
agents or if parts are installed that are not from Aqua Coolers approved supplier list

Terms and Conditions of Sale
General Conditions
·It is not Aqua Cooler’s responsibility to connect the chiller to the BMS unless agreed to
before delivery of the chiller
·Costs for installations where a crane lift is required to undertake major repairs will not
be covered by Aqua Cooler
Delivery and payment
·Upon the receipt of the delivery, the products should be inspected and any defects
reported to Aqua Cooler promptly without delay in writing. At all times, to the extent of
the relevant laws, title to the products shall remain with Aqua Cooler until Aqua Cooler
has received payment in full.
·Aqua Cooler will not be liable for products that are mishandled after delivery

SAFETY
THE INDOOR RANGE OF CHILLERS CANNOT BE USED OUTDOORS
- This chiller is designed to be safe in the use for which it was planned provided that it is
installed, started up and maintained in accordance with the instructions contained in this
manual.
- The chiller contains electrical components that operate at mains voltage. It therefore must
be isolated from the electrical supply before being worked on. All maintenance operations
that require access to the chiller must be carried out by suitably qualified technicians who
have a thorough understanding of all necessary precautions associated with servicing the
chiller.
- The liquids to be used in the appliance must be compatible the materials used in the
construction of the appliance. The appliance is designed to dispense chiller water only.
- All panels must be re-installed after carrying out any maintenance work.
- The chiller is not to be used by the infirmed or children unless they are supervised by
responsible persons, qualified to carry out the supervision.
- The unit should be secured to prevent it from toppling over or rolling.
- Where the above symbol is shown there are live electrical parts and the utmost care
should be taken.
- Work should be carried out by qualified electricians only.
- Electrical connection should be in accordance with all the local relevant safety standards
for wiring safety.
- Always isolate power from the unit when working on it.
- All the components in the chiller are 240V.
Refrigerants have a narcotic effect when inhaled in high quantities. Should a leak occur of the
refrigerants then the room should be vacated and should only be re-entered after suitable
ventilation.

SAFETY
Refrigerants
The unit is charged with r134a gas

Inhalation
In low concentrations may cause narcotic effects. Symptoms may include dizziness, headache,
nausea and loss of co-ordination. In high concentrations may cause asphyxiation. Symptoms may
include loss of mobility/ consciousness. Victim may not be aware of asphyxiation.
Remove victim to uncontaminated area wearing self contained breathing apparatus. Keep victim
warm and rested. Call a doctor. Apply artificial respiration if breathing stopped.
Skin/ Eye Contact
In case of frost bite spray with water for at least 15 minutes. Apply a sterile dressing. Immediately
flush eyes thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical assistance
Ingestion
Ingestion is not considered a potential route of exposure.
ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal precautions
·Evacuate area.
·Wear self-contained breathing apparatus when entering area unless atmosphere
is proved to be safe.
·Ensure adequate air ventilation.
Environmental precautions
·Try to stop release.
·Prevent from entering sewers, basements and workpits, or any place where its
accumulation can be dangerous.
Clean up methods
Ventilate area.
Disposal
The unit must be disposed of in a proper fashion. The refrigerants in the system must be
reclaimed by a qualified refrigeration mechanic and disposed of in accordance with the statutory
requirements. The compressor contains oil that must not be dumped.
Manual Handling
The unit weights approximately 40kg dry. Always keep in mind safe manual handling procedures
when moving the unit. The unit is on rollers to help move it into place once the it is near its final
position.

MARKING
The unit will have serial number sticker on the rear panel of the chiller.
There is an alpha-numeric number under the bar code and this number should be quoted in the
case of a service call. It will tell Aqua cooler the model number and the production date.
Units without a buffer tank will have the high and low water mark indicated next to the level
indicator on the rear of the unit. It is important that the chiller is not over filled.
CERTIFICATION
All the electrical components in the chiller have been certified for electrical safety.
The unit is not designed to be connected to the mains water supply, nor is it certified to be used
for food preparation or drinking water. Contact Aqua Cooler for advice on using the chiller for food
preparation or for potable water applications.
WARRANTY
Any claim under this warranty must be made within 12 months of the date of purchase of the
product. To make a claim under the warranty, return the product (with proof of purchase) to the
supplier where you purchased the product or contact Aqua Cooler regarding warranty conditions.
Aqua Cooler will pay your reasonable, direct expenses of claiming under this warranty. You may
submit details and proof of your expense claim to Aqua Cooler Pty Ltd for consideration.
This warranty is given by Aqua Cooler Pty Ltd, ABN 13 245 994 351, of 161 Orchard Rd, Chester
Hill, NSW 2162 –ph 02 9721 9310.
This warranty is provided in addition to other rights and remedies you have under law: Our goods
come with guarantees which cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are
entitled to replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for other reasonably
foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the
goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Attached to this document is a comprehensive commissioning procedure. This must be carried
out in accordance with the procedure and returned to Aqua Cooler or Aqua Cooler can do the
commissioning, otherwise the warranty will be voided.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The chiller is designed to refrigerate and circulate water to a heat developing process to aid in
keeping that process cool. Water is circulated out of the unit via a pump. It is designed to easily
install with a standard house electrical cable and be used in an indoor environment. The standard
unit is not designed to dispense drinking water or for food preparation.
INTENDED USE
The chiller is designed to deliver refrigerated water to a heat developing process in an indoor or
weatherproof environment. Any use beyond this is not deemed as intended.
CHILLED WATER CIRCUIT

TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
Immediately upon receipt of the chiller, carefully inspect the chiller for any damage that may have
occurred in transit. Any such damage must be noted on the carrier’s delivery documents. It is the
consignee’s responsibility to make any subsequent claims upon the carrier or respective
insurance company.
Any hidden damage should be reported to Aqua Cooler as soon as possible. The chiller should
be delivered upright and with the box and packaging intact.
If the unit is to be stored before installation then care must be taken to ensure no foreign matter
can get into the water pipes. If the storage is for a prolonged period it is recommended that the
water circuit be sealed. This can be done by placing stops in the water outlets on the rear of the
unit.

INSTALLATION
The unit are heavy and should not be manhandled into place. The indoor range of chillers have
rollers on the bottom and can be moved into place using them.
The units should be installed with as much clearance around them as possible to allow the
refrigeration system to have as much ventilation as possible. The S50 exhausts air out the back
of the unit.
Wheel the unit into place making sure the front of the unit is clear and well ventilated. Under load
warm air will be vented out the front of the unit and may become uncomfortable. Ensure that
there is at least 300mm of ventilation at the rear of the unit and ensure that the display is in an
easy position to read to aid in ease of operation.
Water Path Installation
The units can be ordered to fit a variety of water fittings such as ½”BSP, ½”NPT for example.
Unless specified the unit will be delivered with ½”John Guest push fit fittings to suit a ½”hose.
Locate the units as close as possible to the process before connecting the hoses.
The water fittings are on the rear of the unit and are clearly marked. Once the water pipes are
connected the unit needs to be filled with water. Note: if the supply water temperature is below 20
degrees then it is recommended that the water pipes are insulated to prevent sweating.
With the indoor and the outdoor range of units, there is a lift up panel at the rear of the unit. Open
this panel to gain access to the top of the water tank. This tank hold approximately 20 litres of
water. Be careful when filling the unit that water does not spill into the unit. After the water level is
near the top of the unit run the unit to clear air from the water lines and re-check the water level. If
necessary top up the water tank.
The small S50 unit has the water cap protruding from the chassis of the unit ]
At the rear of the unit there is a level indicator. Carefully pour water into the unit until the water
level has risen to the indicated fill point. The S50 will need about ½ a litre –do not overfill.
Replace the cap securely –it is intended to be tight. The unit is now ready to be started up.
The S400 outdoor unit can be supplied to be plumbed into the mains supply and will have a ½”
MBSP fitting on the back –clearly marked –that is designed to be installed with a kinko nut and
an olive. It has a self-regulating level control device installed. This must be specified at time of
order.

INSTALLATION
It is recommended that the chiller be installed with rigid or semi-rigid hose and take care to
ensure that the hoses are not kinked. The hoses to and from the process should be insulated to
prevent sweating and to increase the efficiency of the units.
Do not start the unit until it has been filled with water
Electrical Installation
The chiller has a standard house power cord and plug attached –this can be plugged into a
standard 10A outlet. The chiller is ready to be started up.
Both the S50 and the indoor chiller shave a switch on the front of them. Flick the switch and the
chiller will start up. The screen should illuminate and the pump will start.
The outdoor chiller will supplied with a house cable however if the unit is installed in an area
where it will be exposed to the weather then the cable termination will need to be undercover or
the plug can be removed and terminated into an IP rated isolation switch box. This should be
carried out by a qualified electrician or refrigeration engineer.
All of the operational parameters will be factory preset. However, the operational requirements of
the unit may change and the instructions in the service section of this manual will show how to
change them. If assistance is needed, call Aqua Cooler.
Before start up double check that there are no water leaks and the chiller has adequate
ventilation.
High level connection and monitoring –the units are supplied without the card installed to
connect them to the BMS –this must be specified at time of order.
WiFi Set Up
General
The WiFi Module for the P264 Chiller Controller is a 2.4 GHz, IEEE Std. 802.11b compliant
module which is operating in Infrastructure mode. Infrastructure mode wireless supports central
connection points for WLAN clients. This means that to communicate with other WiFi and Wired
LAN devices it requires a IEEE Std. 802.11b compliant Central Wireless Access Point (AP)
such as is commonly available in an ethernet Router.
SSID
To join the WLAN, the AP and all wireless clients such as the P264 Chiller Controller must be
configured to use the same SSID. The Central Wireless Access Point (AP) is then cabled to
the wired network to allow wireless clients access to, for example, desktop computers.
Channels
The P264 Chiller Controller WiFi Module will scan all 2.4 GHz channels from channel 1 to
channel 11 to look for its Matching wireless network.

Security
The security used by the P264 Chiller Controller WiFi Module is WPA-PSK Personal or WPA2-
PSK Personal where the Passphrase is setup via the P264 Chiller Controller on board web
page. The same Passphrase must be entered into the Central Wireless Access Point (AP)
running WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK security.
Factory Default IP Address
The factory default IP address of the P264 Chiller Controller WiFi module is 10.1.1.140.
Initial Factory Default Connection
Since WiFi connection to the P264 Chiller Controller is required to change the factory default
SSID, Passphrase text or IP address, to make initial connection, the central AP SSID and
Passphrase must be temporarily set to the factory default P264 Chiller Controller SSID:
"techcooler" and Passphrase: "techwater".
Changing Central Wireless Access Point (AP) SSID and Passphrase
The method for changing the Central Wireless Access Point (AP) SSID and Passphrase to the
factory default P264 Chiller Controller SSID: "techcooler" and Passphrase: "techwater" is
dependent on the Central Wireless Access Point (AP) used. However typically it involves
logging into the Central Wireless Access Point (AP) web pages. Navigating to "Advanced"
"Wireless" "SSID" - set to "techcooler".
Navigating to "Advanced" "Wireless" "Security type" - set to WPA/ WPA2.
Navigating to "Advanced" "Wireless" "Security" "Passphrase" - set to "techwater".
Navigating to "Advanced" "Save Settings" "Save".
Changing Central Wireless Access Point (AP) and Computer IP Address
The computer and the Central Wireless Access Point (AP) must also be changed to
communicate on an IPV4 subnet of 10.1.1.x. The computer must have DHCP IP address
assignment turned off so that it can use a fixed IP address. For example set the computer to IP
address of 10.1.1.150 and the central AP to 10.1.1.1. The Central Wireless Access Point (AP)
is often also the router and DHCP server and is commonly given the first subnet address.
Testing Factory Default Connection
Given that all of the above steps have been performed successfully and about 2 minutes has
elapsed allowing normal wireless connection protocols to be performed, then secure WPA/WPA
Personal connection should now be possible to the P264 Chiller Controller by typing the
following web address into a web browser on the computer: http://10.1.1.140:8076/index.htm.
Trouble Shooting
If a connection is not made following the above, power cycle the P264 Chiller Controller and/or
the Central Wireless Access Point (AP). Wait for about 2 minutes for normal wireless
connection protocols to be performed and re-attempt connection to the P264 Chiller Controller
Web Pages.
Changing to In Service Settings on the P264 Chiller Controller
With this new wireless connection, the P264 Chiller Controller SSID, Passphrase and IP
address can now be changed from factory default to the desired in service settings. These are
found on the P264 Chiller Controller on board web "Access" page and the web "Network" pages
respectively.

Changing to In Service Settings on the Central Wireless AP
The matching central AP SSID, Passphrase and IP address can now also be changed from the
temporary P264 Chiller Controller factory default settings also to the desired in service settings
using a method specific to the Central Wireless Access Point (AP). See example in the
Changing Central Wireless AP SSID and Passphrase section above.
Note that P264 Chiller Controller WiFi module factory default SSID, Passphrase and IP address
can be restored as described below.
Factory default SSID and Passphrase are automatically loaded into newly powered-up P264
Chiller Controller WiFi modules but if necessary to load the factory Admin Username and
Password and clear all Email and Chiller ID page settings, hold down the 'UP', 'OK' and 'Reset'
push button then release the 'Reset' push button whilst holding the 'UP' and 'OK' push buttons
until the 'OK' LED is lit.
Factory default IP address of 10.1.1.140 is automatically loaded into newly powered-up P264
Chiller Controller WiFi modules. Recover from an unknown IP address or HTTP port as follows:
Hold down the 'DOWN', 'ESC' and 'Reset' push button then release the 'Reset' push button whilst
holding the 'DOWN' and 'ESC' push buttons until the 'OK' LED is lit. This will result in the factory
IP address of 10.1.1.140 for WiFi interface controllers as well as HTTP port 8076 being restored.
OPERATION
Switch power onto the chiller and the LCD display will illuminate on the indoor models and the
small controller screen will illuminate on the outdoor models. The chiller will sit in rest for 15
seconds before starting the pump. After two minutes the compressor will start.
The pump will run all the time regardless of what the refrigeration system is doing. Once the
chiller starts the operation of the chiller is largely automatic. The default temperature setting of
the chiller is 20 degrees –to alter this see the maintenance section of this document.
The chiller will now automatically control water temperature and so no further controller input is
needed unless the settings need to be altered.
The running parameters are displayed on the screen and can be accessed by using the scroll
buttons on the controller.
After the chiller has been running for a few minutes, check that the water temperature is coming
down. Also check that the pressure gauge on the front of the chiller is showing a reading to
indicate that the pump is running.

CONTROL
The units can be supplied with 2 types of controller. Either a high level controller with all
the functionality to control the water temperature but also chiller performance, water flow
control and connection to the BMS. Or the units can be supplied with an off the shelf,
simpler controller that runs the refrigeration system only.
Common setting for both controllers
Temperature Control –Set Point
Controller will turn the compressor off when the set point is breached. Compressors will be turned
on again at temperature plus hysteresis
Temperature Control - Max and Min Set Point
This prevents casual operator from setting supply temperatures too high or too low
Temperature Control - High and Low Temperature Alarm Stop
High and low temperature limits can be set in order that if they are breached then the chiller will
shut down. In very rare instances a component may fail without triggering any of its internal fault
indicators. The chiller may think it is running normally yet not refrigerating. It is recommended
that high and low temperature stop is set to yes to prevent this happening.
The temperature of the water is controlled by the set point and the hysteresis. The refrigeration
system will run until the set point is reached and cut itself out. The refrigeration system will then
stay off unit either the 2 minute compressor rest time is over or the water temperature has risen
above the set point plus the hysteresis.
Setting unique to high end controller
Close tolerance
If the unit has been manufactured for close tolerance then the controller will attempt to keep the
water temperature within the close tolerance number around the midpoint between the set point
and the hysteresis.

CONTROL
For example if the set point is 10 degrees, the hystersis 2 and the close tolerance 1 degree then
the controller will attempt to keep the temperature between 10.5 and 11.5 degrees.
The ability of the chiller to keep the temperature as close to the set point will vary depending on
heat load. The closer the heat load is to the chillers rated capacity the more accurate the chiller
can maintain the close tolerance. Under low loads the chiller will be unable to maintain less that 1
degree close tolerance
The fan on the unit will speed up and slow down depending on heat load and ambient
temperatures. This is normal operation.
Alarm Acknowledge Delay
This delay is the time that the program waits before flagging an alarm. This may be useful in the
event of a tandem switch over to a tank of very warm water for example. If the water is too warm
then the high water temperature alarm may be triggered. If there is a delay then it will give the
newly activated chiller time to pull the water temperature down.
When the chiller is cooling “ON”will display on the home screen. When the chiller cuts out
“REST”will show on the screen indicating the unit is in start delay to avoid short cycling the
compressor and after this the chillers display will show “OFF”until the unit is ready to cut in again.
The settings below are the only ones that should be altered by the operator –the rest of the
menu are for setting up the chiller and should not be altered.
Automatic Water Line Bypass
The chillers have an automatic water bypass installed. If the pump starts to pump against a dead
heat if say a process valve closes then the bypass will open and protect the pump.
Fan Speed Control
The controller monitors the discharge pressure of each of the refrigeration circuits and makes
decisions for fan speed based on this value. In the menu these is a valve for minimum run
(default 1500 kPa) which when reached will start the fans and run them at 20% speed. There is a
fan full speed setting (default 2200 kPa ) that will run the fans at full speed. The fan speed will
then run proportionally between these two values.

SERVICE and MAINTENANCE
Warning: Always isolate the power from the chiller prior to working on the unit.
Warning: Always ensure that personnel have read and understood the SAFETY section of this
manual prior to working on the chiller.
Warning: When the mains controller is de-energised the power contactors are live, even if the
components are not operating.
All maintenance must be carried out by qualified refrigeration mechanics.
These units have been designed for the minimum of maintenance. However to ensure optimum
performance qualified personnel should carry out regular maintenance. A comprehensive
preventative maintenance program is available through Aqua Cooler carried out by qualified
refrigeration mechanics.
Should any faults be identified then please call Aqua Cooler to arrange a service call.

Water Supply Temperature
Setting the water supply
temperature –Temperature that
the refrigeration system with cut
out
·Use the scroll keys to find “WATER TEMP”on the menu.
·Press “OK”and “SET WATER TEMP”will show and the set point will
start flashing
·Use the scroll keys to select new water temperature
·Press “OK”and “NEW WATER TEMP”will show.
·Press the “X”button twice and the screen will return to the home screen
Temperature Hysteresis –
Temperature between refrigeration
circuit cut out and cut in ·Use the scroll keys to find “TEMP HYSTERESIS”on the menu
·Press “OK”and the hysteresis value will start to flash
·Using the scroll keys to change the valve of the hysteresis.
·Press “OK”and “NEW TEMP HYSTER”will show on the screen
·The default temperature hysteresis is 2.0 and the maximum is 5.0
·
Press the “X”button twice and the screen will return to the home screen
Setting close tolerance
Requiring close tolerance must be
specified at time of order
Default close tolerance is 1.0
degree
·Hold the “OK”button down for 5 seconds to get the parameters menu
·Scroll through to “CLOSE TOL ON/OFF”and press “OK”
·“SET C TOL ON/OFF”will show. Use scroll keys to change to ON or OFF
and press “OK”
·“CLOSE TOLERANCE ON”will display on the screen.
·Press escape twice to return to the home screen and scroll through the
parameter menu to “CLOSE TOL TEMP”
·Press “OK”and “SET CL TOL TEMP”will display with the set
temperature flashing
·Use scroll keys to set and press “OK”Maximum is 1.9 and minimum is
0.1
·“NEW CL TOL TEMP”will show. Press escape twice to return to home
screen
Setting the flow rate
If the chiller is ordered with a
variable speed pump then the flow
rate can be adjusted between 5
litres a minute and 19 litres a
minute.
·Scroll through the menu to “FLOW RATE”
·Press “OK”
·“SET FLOW RATE”and the value will start to flash
·Use the scroll keys to set the desired flow rate
·Press “OK”
·“NEW FLOW RATE”will show
Setting the high or low temperature alarm
This alarm will activate when the
water temperature is above or
below the set points. Note: The
unit will not cut out should one of
the parameters be broken.
·Use the scroll keys to find “HI TEMP ALARM”or “LOW TEMP ALARM”
on the menu.
·Press “OK”and “SET HI TEMP ALM”or “SET LOW TEMP ALM”. The
value will start to flash.
·Use the scroll keys to change the value, the default is 20 degrees,
maximum is 40 and minimum is 10 degrees. “NEW HI TEMP ALARM”
will then appear. The low temperature default is 5 degrees and the
minimum is –10 degrees.
·Press the “X”button twice and the screen will return to the home screen
Low or high temperature cut-out
The unit can be set so it will cut
out if the water supply
temperature gets too warm to too
cold
·Scroll through the menu to “LOW TEMP STOP”or “HIGH TEMP STOP”
·Press “OK”
·“SET LOW TEMP STOP”or “SET HI TEMP STOP”will show
·Select “YES”or “NO”using the scroll keys
·“STOP ON LOW TEMP”or “STOP ON HI TEMP”will show
·Press escape to return to the home screen

Max or min temp limit
This parameter prevents an
operator from altering the set
point above or below the safe
operating limits of the machine.
·Scroll through to “MIN TEMP LIMIT”or “MAX TEMP LIMIT”
·Press “OK”
·Temperature will start to flash. Use scroll keys to adjust
·Press “OK”
·“NEW MIN LIMIT”or “NEW MAX LIMIT”will show with the set point
·Press escape to return to the home screen
Unlocking the keypad on the Aqua Cooler controller
IMPORTANT NOTES
·The key pad on the smart controller will lock out after 10 minutes of non-use. To
unlock the key pad press the ESC, DOWN, UP and ESC keys in sequence
