UV sterilizer for saltwater and freshwater a uariums and garden ponds
This UV sterilizer is a quality unit. If used correctly, He ix Max kills microalgae and creates cristal clear water
in aquariums and garden ponds. It inactivates bacteria and other parasites and the risk for infection of the
fish decreases.
It has been specifically developed for aquarium use, has been designed and manufactured to the highest
standards and has been extensively tested.

1. Operating prin iple
The UV sterilizer He ix Max clears the water with the help of ultraviolet radiation. This radiation is emitted
by a special lamp. The UV-C radiation kills all forms of life that are directly exposed to the radiation -
microalgae, bacteria, protozoa and other parasites. The result is cristal clear water and healthy fish.
2. Spe ial features
Spiral water flow: The unique spiral water flow and the big volume of the He ix Max units ensure an
optimum water clarification. The water is directed in a spiral way around the quartz tube with a long contact
time. Due to this, the UV-radiation is used with maximum efficiency.
Rotable connections: The inlet and outlet connections of the He ix Max can be rotated for 360°. This saves
space and fascilitates the installation.
3. Sizes/te hni al data
He ix Max sterilizers are produced in 6 sizes:
5 watts, 9 watts, 11 watts with 2 m cable for fresh and saltwater aquariums.
18 watts, 36 watts and 55 watts, with 10 m rubber cable and electronic ballast for garden ponds and for fresh
and saltwater aquariums. With electronic ballasts for longer life time of the bulbs and also a higher UV
output.
For the different applications, we recommend different aquarium/pond sizes and flow rates. In garden
ponds, the recommended flow rates will not result in a sterilization, but the water is clarified by killing the
microalgae.

4. Safety advi e
The radiation of the UV-C lamps is dangerous. Direct contact with eyes or skin can result in irreversible
damages. Therefore, the unit must always be switched off before it is opened.
The units He ix Max 5 watts and He ix Max 9 watts and 11 watts are suitable for indoor use only.
The units may only be switched on when the water flow is on. If used on a garden pond, the units have to
be switched off and removed during winter to prevent damages from frost. The units may not be submerged
or operated under water.
5. Conne tion
The He ix Max are supplied with transparent connection pieces. This allows to control the function of the
bulbs - blue light when the UV bulbs are on.
Depending on the installed pump and water flow, the connection pieces should be cut to the best size
(metal saw).
The connections of the He ix Max can be rotated for 360°. This allows an easy adaptation to the mounting
conditions. In any case, the units have to be set up in a way that the outlet connection is at the highest point
to avoid air to be trapped in the unit.
6. Maintenan e and leaning
1. The UV-C lamps have a life span of approx. 8,000 hrs. After 5,000 hrs, the UV-C output of the lamps
decreases to 85%. The lamps have to be changed regularly. We recommend to clean the quartz
tube whenever the lamps are changed.
2. Switch the power off, stop the water flow and drain the water from the unit (dismount the water
connections).
3. Open the large screw cap. Careful: The lamp is fixed with the socket in the screw cap. If the screw
cap is open, you can carefully remove the lamp.

4. To clean the quartz tube, it can be removed from the housing. Normally, it is very tight and has to be lift-
ed up a little bit with a screw driver or a coin (careful, do not use too much force). Take it out by hand. The
quartz tube can be cleaned with water and a soft cloth. If there are calcium deposits on the tube, it can
be cleaned with vinegar or commercial decalcifiers. Afterwards, flush it with water. The plastic end part of
the quartz tube can be fitted with grease for easy remounting.
5. The remounting is done in reverse order. The quartz tube is pushed into the housing, the lamp is fastened
into the socket and both are carefully mounted in the housing. The screw cap is fixed tight. Finally, the
connection pieces are remounted and the hoses are secured with the clamps.
6. The electronic ballast is main -
enance-free. It the lamp stops
working or does not start any-
more, although a new lamp is
mounted, the ballast has to be
changed. This has to be done by
a specialist using original Aqua
Medic parts, only.
7. Warranty
Should any defect in material or workmanship be found within 12 months of the date of purchase Aqua
Medic GmbH undertakes to repair or, at our option, replace the defective part free of charge - always
provided the product has been installed correctly, is used for the purpose that was intended by us, is used
in accordance with the operating instructions and is returned to us carriage paid. The warranty term is not
applicable on the all consumable products.
Proof of Purchase is required by presentation of an original invoice or receipt indicating the dealer’s name,
the model number and date of purchase, or a Guarantee Card if appropriate. This warranty may not apply
if any model or production number has been altered, deleted or removed, unauthorized persons or
organisations have executed repairs, modifications or alterations, or damage is caused by accident, misuse
or neglect.
We regret we are unable to accept any liability for any consequential loss.

its component parts, was not originally designed and / or manufactured for the market in which it is used.

Wasserklärer für Süß- und Meerwasseraquarien und Gartentei he
Mit dem Kauf dieses UV Wasserklärers haben Sie sich für ein Qualitätsgerät entschieden. Es wurde
speziell für den aquaristischen Gebrauch entwickelt und von Fachleuten erprobt.
Bei richtiger Anwendung tötet He ix Max Schwebealgen ab, schafft klares Wasser im Aquarium sowie
im Gartenteich, inaktiviert Bakterien und Krankheitserreger und senkt so das Infektionsrisiko für die
Fische.

1. Arbeitsweise
Die UV Wasserklärer He ix Max klären das Wasser mit Hilfe von UV-C Strahlung. Diese werden von
einer Speziallampe im Gerät erzeugt. Die UV-C Strahlung tötet alle bestrahlten Lebewesen ab -
Schwebealgen, Bakterien, Protozoen und andere Krankheitserreger. Das Resultat ist ein kristallkla-
res Wasser und gesunde Fische.
2. Besonderheiten
Spiralförmige Wasserführung: Durch die einzigartige Wasserführung und das große Volumen der
Helix Max wird eine optimale Wasserklärung erreicht. Das Wasser wird spiralförmig mit langer
Kontaktzeit am Quarzrohr vorbeigeführt. Die UV-Strahlung wird dabei maximal genutzt.
Drehbare Anschlüsse: Die Ein- und Auslassöffnungen der He ix Max sind um 360° drehbar. Dies
ermöglicht eine platzsparende Installation.
3. Baugrößen/te hnis he Daten
He ix Max Wasserklärer werden in 6 Baugrößen geliefert:
5 Watt, 9 Watt und 11 Watt je mit 2 m Steckernetzteil für Meer- und Süßwasseraquarien.
18 Watt, 36 Watt und 55 Watt, je mit 10 m Gummikabel und elektronischem
Hochfrequenzvorschaltgerät - für Gartenteiche, Meer- und Süßwasseraquarien. Durch die elektroni-
schen Vorschaltgeräte wird eine höhere UV-Ausbeute und längere Lebensdauer der UV-Lampen
gewährleistet.
Für die verschiedenen Einsatzgebiete gelten unterschiedliche Empfehlungen für Durchflussmenge
und Aquarien-/Teichgröße. Beim Gartenteich kommt es bei der angegebenen Durchflussmenge nicht
zu einer Entkeimung, jedoch zu einer Wasserklärung - die Schwebealgen werden abgetötet.

4. Si herheitshinweise
Die von den Speziallampen erzeugte UV-C Strahlung ist gefährlich. Direkter Kontakt mit Augen oder
Haut kann zu Schädigungen führen. Daher ist das Gerät vor der Demontage immer auszuschalten.
Die Geräte He ix Max 5 W, He ix Max 9 W und He ix Max 11 W sind nur für den Betrieb in
Innenräumen zugelassen.
Das Gerät darf nur eingeschaltet werden, wenn der Wasserfluss ebenfalls eingeschaltet ist.
Bei der Benutzung am Gartenteich müssen die Geräte im Winter demontiert werden, um sie vor dem
Einfrieren zu schützen.
Geräte nie unter Wasser betreiben.
5. Ans hluss
Die He ix Max sind mit transparenten Anschlussstücken ausgestattet. Dies ermöglicht die
Funktionskontrolle - die UV-Lampen leuchten blau auf.
Je nach installierter Durchflussleistung (s.Tabelle) und verwendeter Umwälzpumpe, können die
Anschlussstücke passend abgesägt werden.
Die Anschlüsse der He ix Max sind um 360° drehbar. Dies ermöglicht eine ideale Anpassung an die
jeweiligen Bedingungen. In jedem Fall sind die Geräte aber so anzubringen, dass der Ablauf an der
höchsten Stelle liegt. Dadurch wird verhindert, dass sich Luftblasen im Gerät ansammeln.
6. Reinigung und Wartung
1. Die UV-C Lampen in den Geräten haben eine Lebensdauer von ca. 8.000 Std. ach 5.000 Std.
beträgt die Leistung noch 85% der Anfangsleistung. Sie müssen also regelmäßig ausgewechselt
werden. Wir empfehlen, beim Wechsel der Lampen auch das Quarzrohr im Gerät zu reinigen.
2. Schalten Sie das Gerät aus, stoppen Sie den Wasserdurchfluss und lassen das Wasser aus dem
Gerät ab (Demontage der Anschlüsse).
3. Öffnen Sie den großen Schraubdeckel. Vorsicht: Die Lampe steckt mit ihrer Fassung an diesem
Deckel. Ist der Deckel geöffnet, können Sie vorsichtig die Lampe herausnehmen.

4. Zur Reinigung des Quarzrohres kann es aus dem Gehäuse herausgezogen werden. Da es fest
sitzt, muss es zunächst mit einem Schraubenzieher oder einer Geldmünze leicht angehoben und
dann vorsichtig mit der Hand aus dem Gehäuse gezogen werden - nicht gewaltsam. Das
Quarzrohr kann mit Wasser und einem weichen Tuch gereinigt werden. Sollte sich Kalk auf dem
Rohr niedergeschlagen haben, kann es auch für einige Stunden in Essigessenz oder einen handel -
süblichen Entkalker eingelegt werden. Danach gründlich mit Leitungswasser spülen. Das
Kunststoffteil am Ende des Quarzglases sollte zum Einbau mit Vaseline eingefettet werden.
5. Der Einbau erfolgt in umgekehrter Reihenfolge: Quarzrohr wieder einschieben, Lampe in die
Fassung stecken, vorsichtig in
das Quarzrohr schieben und
die große Verschraubung fest
anziehen. Anschließend die
Anschlüsse wieder montieren.
Unbedingt die Schlauchschellen
verwenden, damit der Schlauch
sicher sitzt.
6. Das elektronische Vorschalt -
gerät ist wartungsfrei. Sollte
die Lampe nicht mehr zünden,
obwohl eine neue funktionierende UV-C Lampe verwendet wird, muss das Vorschaltgerät ausge-
tauscht werden. Dies hat durch einen Fachmann zu erfolgen.
7. Garantie
Aqua Medic GmbH gewährt eine 12-monatige Garantie ab aufdatum auf alle Material- und
Verarbeitungsfehler des Gerätes. Als Garantienachweis gilt der Original- aufbeleg. Während dieser Zeit
werden wir das Produkt kostenlos durch Einbau neuer oder erneuerter Teile instandsetzen (ausgenommen
Frachtkosten). Im Fall, dass während oder nach Ablauf der Garantiezeit Probleme mit Ihrem Gerät auftreten,
wenden Sie sich bitte an Ihren Fachhändler.
Diese Garantie gilt nur für den Erstkäufer. Sie deckt nur Material- und Verarbeitungsfehler, die bei
bestimmungsgemäßem Gebrauch auftreten. Sie gilt nicht bei Schäden durch Transporte oder
unsachgemäße Behandlung, Fahrlässigkeit, falschen Einbau sowie Eingriffen und Veränderungen,
die von nicht autorisierten Stellen vorgenommen wurden.
Aqua Medic GmbH haftet nicht für Folgeschäden, die durch den Gebrauch des Gerätes entstehen.
