DISPOSAL OF ELECTRIC AND ELECTRONIC PARTS
Pursuant to Article 13 of Legislative Decree No. 151 of 25 July 2005, “Implementation
of Directives 2002/95/CE, 2002/96/CE and 2003/108/CE, regarding the re-
duction in use of dangerous substances in electrical and electronic equipment,
as well as waste disposal”
Products bearing the barred dustbin symbol must be disposed of separately from
other waste. The user must therefore dispose of the product in question at suitable
recycling centers for electronic and electro-technical waste, or he/she must turn over
the used product to the retailer when buying a new equivalent product, on a one-to-
one basis.
Separate waste collection allows used equipment to be recycled, treated and disposed
of without negative consequences for the environment and health, and it allows the
materials in the equipment to be recycled.
Illegal dumping of the product by the user entails the administrative sanctions
stated in Legislative Decree No. 22/1997 (Article 50 et seq of Legislative Decree No.
22/1997).

Information on safety
Use the SMS module only for the purpose for which it was designed; any other
use not provided for in this manual can cause irreparable damage to the control
unit.
Do not attempt to disassemble the SMS module, as it contains no parts that can
be repaired by the user.
Repairs must only be done at authorized centers by qualied personnel. The
company is not liable for any damage to things or harm to people if the control
unit is tampered with.
The SMS module comes with a non-rechargeable 9-volt battery.
When it is time to replace it (every 18 months, even if not signalled by the control-
ler), make sure a battery of the same family is used. Using non-approved batteries
may cause damage, even irreparable, to the control unit.
Only original AQUATRONICA parts, or those it approves, should be connected to
the control unit. The use of accessories that have not been approved can lead to
damage, re, electric shock and injury to people.
Position the control unit out of the reach of children to prevent the risk of electric
shock. The warranty does not cover failures due to the use of unapproved mate-
rial.
The control unit is not waterproof, so do not expose it to direct contact with
liquids. It is unadvisable to assemble it in particularly damp environments.
Do not use ammable liquids to clean it, which could come into contact with the
electrical parts and cause a re.
Avoid positioning the SMS module inside metal containers or in any case near me-
tallic masses. Non-compliance with this rule may cause system malfunctionings.

Follow these instructions to correctly connect
the SMS module:
1) Put a 9 volt non-rechargeable battery
(not included in the package) inside its
compartment.
Note: Using the battery becomes necessary
only for managing the module if there is a
drop in voltage, whereas the module relies
on the mains voltage for managing all the
other functions.
2) Put the SIM in its compartment.
ATTENTION: The module must always be
turned off when the SIM is inserted; if
it is removed and the SIM is afterwards
put back in, it is necessary to reset the
module so as to once again go through the
initialisation procedure.
3) Connect the BUS cable to one of the sockets
on the power unit (as illustrated at the side).
Note: Do not by any means connect other
devices to the USB socket on the SMS
module. Not following this rule could
in fact cause irreparable damage to the
control unit.
4) Connect the mains power supply to one of
the sockets on the power unit (as illustrated at
the side) or to any electric mains socket.
NOTE: If the power supply unit is con-
nected to one of the power unit sockets,
it is necessary to set a timer program that
keeps this socket active 24 hours a day.
5) Wait for the module to complete the initiali-
sation procedure, during which the module will
be unable to operate.

SMS module LED and button operation
LED visual indicators
There are 2 LEDs on the SMS module:
1 GREEN LED (F1) regarding the status of the mod-
ule’s connection to the Aquarium Controller.
1 RED LED (F2) regarding the status of the GSM
transmitter.
Depending on the status detected, they may be blink-
ing or steady.
GREEN LED
Steady: The SMS module is working correctly.
Slow Blinking: There is an SMS module-Aquarium
Controller connection error.
RED LED
Steady: The module is working correctly.
Slow Blinking: The module is initializing itself and
connecting to the GSM network.
Fast Blinking: There are problems on the GSM network
(in this case the relative error code will be displayed on
the controller) or there has been a black-out (in this
case the module signals the black-out a few seconds
before switching itself off).
Functions assigned to the button P
You can directly enable/disable the module without entering the dedicated enabling/disa-
bling menu by pressing the button marked by the letter “P” just once. Every time the
button is pressed the module status will change, and is recognisable by the turning on
and off of the LEDs.
The module will be reset by keeping the button marked by the letter “P” pressed for at
least one second. This function may prove to be particularly advisable if you want to
learn the charge status of a battery inside the module (see the section dedicated to the
“Battery charge” menu).

When the SMS Module is connected, the new device con-
nection notication screen will appear on the controller
(Fig. 1).
Unlike when other devices are connected to the controller,
the preset name of the SMS module cannot be modied.
The Aquatronica SMS module allows messages to be sent
to and received from individual users or groups of users ne-
cessary for monitoring certain parameters of the aquarium
such as, for example, temperature, pH, Redox, etc.
When connecting the SMS module to the power unit,
the controller will automatically recognise the accessory
without requiring the user to perform any operation. Now
you can enter the dedicated menu by following these steps
(Fig. 2):

It becomes necessary to use this command if the SIM
inserted is protected by a safety code (PIN).
Entering this PIN using the keys allows the SMS module
and the SIM card to communicate, even if it is protected.
Note: The purpose of this function is not to protect the user
from improper use of the module by third parties.
ATTENTION: Protection of the SIM card will be disabled
when the PIN code is entered so as to be allow the SMS
module to read it. Therefore, it will be necessary to re-en-
able the protection PIN by hand if the card is later used
on any mobile phone.
The SMS module accepts up to 3 PIN code entry attempts
at the most, after which the PUK unlocking code is re-
quested.

Read SMS
Here you can read the content of a message signalled by
a pre-dened sound.
By pressing any key at the end of this operation, you will
go back to the main menu and the read message will re-
main saved in the module memory until a new message
arrives. The Aquatronica SMS module offers the user the
possibility to both receive and read any type of text mes-
sage sent from any phone number and to simply interact
directly with several aquarium functions.
By sending an SMS containing a pre-determined string
of characters (TEXT:) following by the actual text of the
message from any mobile phone, the user can send a
message that will be directly displayed on the Aquatronica
controller (g. 16).
Moreover, the user can request the status of a given type
of sensors connected to the controller from any mobile
number by sending an SMS containing one of the following
parts of text (written in upper-case or lower-case, without
distinction):
- Info T (for information about temperature sensors)
- Info PH (for information about pH sensors)
- Info L (for information about level sensors)
- Info RX (for information about redox sensors)
- Info WL (for information about water leakage
sensors)
- Info MS (for information about low conductivity
sensors)
- Info D (for information about high conductivity/den-
sity sensors)
- Info (for information about all connected sensors)
the module will send the reply containing the name of all
the requested sensors with their values to that particular
number.
The data of 2 temperature sensors connected to the
Aquarium Controller are shown in the example in Fig. 17.
Note If you don’t remember the sensor status infor-
mation commands, you can ask for the list of them
from the SMS module by sending a message contain-
ing the text “HELP”

BlackOut
The SMS module will send a message to the pre-set phone
numbers when there is a black-out.
The module will send another notication message when
the current returns.
Note The Black-out function will be valid only if the
SMS module is active.
It is also recommended to disconnect the module from
the controller using the disable function before unplug-
ging its power supply unit. This is to prevent the module
from recognising the power failure as a black-out and from
consequently sending an alarm SMS.
