GENERAL FEATURES
- On / Off Function
- Select colours with touch wheel
- Independent control of RGB components and
white
- Reproduction of three colour temperatures of
white
- Adjustment of light intensity
- Automatic rainbow mode with speed regulation
- 4 DMX channels (ch. 1 : red, ch. 2: green, ch. 3:
blue, ch. 4: white)
C ution
Keep in mind that, while being 4-channels, the
control unit sends on the DMX bus copies of the
control values for R, G, B, W which cyclically
cover the first 40 channels, i.e. the base channels
1 , 2, 3, 4 are replicated on channels 5, 6, 7, 8 and
also on channels 9, 1 0, 11 , 1 2 and so on up to the
channels 37, 38, 39, 40. Check the settings of all
the DMX devices connected to this unit to verify
that the replicas on channels 5-40 do not lead to
unexpected results.
REAR PANEL
In the rear part of the control unit there is the 11 -
pins terminal block for connection of the power
line, the control lines to the LED devices, the DMX
line towards intelligent devices.
R G B W
: terminal block for connection of the
lines R, G, B of a full-colour LED device and the
return line of a white light LED device.
+ -
: the three terminals labelled with "+" are
connected in parallel and are used for connection
to the positive supply and for connection to the
common lines of LED devices (one for the full
colour and one for the white). The - terminal is
used to connect to the negative supply.
D+ D- -
: 3-pin terminal block for connection of
DMX control signal. The control unit generates a
signal in digital format DMX 51 2 (1 990 ). The
polarity of the control signals "hot pole" (+) "cold
pole" (-) and metal screen (GND) is shown on the
terminals respectively by the symbols D+, D-, -.
FRONT PANEL
Central signaling spy
: this little spy at the top of
the front panel indicates with its colour the status
of the unit: when the unit is in operation it lights up
in blue, when giving commands to the control unit
it flashes in blue, when the unit is in standby mode
it lights up in red.
On / Off Pad
: pressing this pad turns on and off
the unit, which turns on and off the lights
connected. When the controller is on, the lights
are on and the signaling spy is blue; when the unit
is in standby mode, the lights are off and the
signaling spy is red. A long press resets the
factory settings (colour of the light and colours in
memory); after restoration the signaling spy
flashes shortly in blue, while the lights are turned
on at full intensity (for RGB devices this
corresponds to white mix).
Brightness Pad
: sets the master level of
brightness for all devices connected to the control
unit (both RGB and white). A short touch has no
effect. Each prolonged pressure on this pad
increases or decreases the brightness level of the

3/8
USER'S MANUAL
light and every time you release your finger the
direction of the adjustment is automatically
reversed (if the intensity was increasing, the next
press will decrease the intensity starting from the
current level reached and vice versa).
The adjustment is effective on 8 levels, from a
minimum to a maximum, and once you reach the
maximum or minimum level the adjustment stops.
It is important to note that at the minimum value of
brightness the lights are not completely off.
The signaling spy flashes in blue during
adjustment and the frequency of the flashes
represents the value of the light intensity: at the
minimum frequency the brightness is low and as
the brightness increases the flash rate increases,
up to a high frequency that corresponds to the
maximum brightness.
The signaling spy stops flashing and remains lit
blue when the final level is reached, even if the
finger is held down on the pad. So if you hold
down your finger on the brightness pad but you
don't see the light flashing, it means that the
brightness of the light is already at the maximum
or minimum and can no longer be increased or
decreased; simply release the finger and touch
again the pad and the intensity variation takes
regularly.
Colour temperature Pad
: this pad has effect on
RGB devices, not on white light. Through a
blending of the colours R, G, B the control unit is
capable of simulating three levels of white (warm,
natural, cold), which can be rotary selected by
repeatedly pressing the pad; each press toggles
the reproduced light between warm, natural and
cold white. Prolonged pressure has no effect.
Colours Pad
(R, G, B, W): these four pads,
visible in the lower part of the control unit, allow to
independently manage the intensity of the
individual colours, so as to finely control the hue
of reproduced light. It is not essential to have both
RGB and white-light devices connected to the
control unit: the function of each pad is the same
and the visual result will depend on the
arrangement of the lights within the environment.
For example, if there are only white-light
equipments in a room, the pads RGB will have no
effect and the adjustment will take place using
only the pad "white" W. On the other hand, if there
are both white-light and RGB equipments in a
room, you can use all four colour pads to achieve
the desired effect.
A short press on the colour pad turns on and off
the light of the corresponding colour; the other
colours are not affected. Thus we have an
alternative to the on/off pad to turn off the lights,
although more complex: just repeatedly press the
pads of all colours to turn off all the individual
components and get the dark.
A long press on the colour pad is used to adjust
the intensity of the corresponding colour. At a first
long press the adjustment is made from the
minimum (light off) to the maximum, starting from
the current level; lift the finger, and a second long
press will adjust the light in the opposite direction,
from maximum to minimum (light off), starting from
the level previously reached. The controller keeps
track of which adjustment was made, so at every
new pressure the light intensity will increase or
decrease accordingly.
The signaling spy flashes in blue when adjusting
the brightness and stops when it reaches the final
value, even if the finger is held down on the pad.
So if you hold down your finger on a colour pad
but you don't see the blue light flashing, it means
that the brightness of the light is already at one of
the two extremes and can no longer be increased
or decreased; simply release the finger and press
again the pad and the intensity adjustment will
take place regularly.
The maximum value of the intensity is a function
of the master level set with the pad brightness, in
the sense that if, for example, the overall
brightness is on the first level, the maximum
brightness of the single colour can no longer rise
above that level while holding the colour pad.
owever, the long press on colour pad allows you
to finely control the intensity of each colour in
order to get the right lighting effect by mixing the
RGB components and also white.
Colour Wheel Pad
: the central touch-sensitive
colour wheel allows you to generate a particular
colour simply by swiping your finger inside the ring
itself. Then adjust the brightness with the
brightness pad.
Play / Pause Pad
(automatic sequence): the unit
has an automatic pre-set sequence that consists
of a rainbow effect with fade between different
colours. The pressure on the pad starts or pauses
the sequence when it is running; adjust the
brightness with the brightness pad.
When the automatic sequence is running, the
colour pads have no effect. Instead, the pressure
on the colour temperature pad or on the colour
wheel stops the execution of the sequence and
the reproduced light will be modified accordingly.
Speed Pad
: pressing one of these two pads
increases or decreases the execution speed of the
automatic sequence.
Memory Pad
: the controller has three memory
cells dedicated to the permanent storage of three
different colours. By default these three cells
contain, respectively, "red", "green", "blue". The
pressure of memory pad cyclically recalls one of
these colours and each time you press the pad
the colour in the next cell is played. For example,
after restoring the factory settings, a first press
displays red light, a second press displays green
light, a third press displays blue light, a fourth

4/8
LC5003
press displays red again, and so on. Also in this
case the control unit keeps track of which cell is
playing, so that if you launch the automatic
sequence or if you change the colour with the
colour wheel, each new press on memory pad will
reproduce the proper colour of the next cell.
It is possible to replace the colours in the three
memory cells, so as to quickly recall the three
colours that you most frequently use. Repeatedly
press the pad memory until you see the colour
that should be replaced; set the new colour with
one of the previously seen modes (single colour
RGBW, or colour wheel, or by automatic
sequence, but it must be paused before storage),
and then press and hold the memory pad for more
than 5 seconds; the connected lights will flash
once to indicate the correct storage of colour.
Repeat the same steps to change the colour of
the other two memory locations.
INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION
Before carrying out any operation, disconnect the
unit from any power supply.
Remove the front panel from the body of the unit,
using a screwdriver in the reference notch at the
bottom; this is essential to be able to fix the unit.
Be careful not to damage the electrical contacts of
the central connector that joins the body to the
front panel of the controller.
The LC5003 controller must be installed in a
standard flush box type 503. Lay the box in the
desired position, practicing the track into the wall
needed to house the box and corrugated pipes
that carry either the electrical power line, the
control lines to LED luminaires and the DMX
control line to the lighting system.
It is also possible to mount on the wall, in this
case the connection cables can reach the control
unit through a duct wall.
Respect the polarity of the anode-cathode LED
devices. Connect to the "+" terminal the positive
supply line of LED devices, connected to "R", "G",
"B" terminals the negative power lines of the of
RGB LED devices, connected to "W" terminal the
negative power line of white-light LED devices.
The terminal block can accept conductors of cross
section between 0.5 and 1 .5 mm2; for fixing
remove approximately 6-7 mm of insulation from
the wires.
The choice of power supply for the interface must
be carried out according to the total power
absorption of all LED equipments connected; once
you have this value, you can choose among the
wide range of power supplies that Arena Luci
provides.
It is recommended to leave a margin of at least
the 25% less than the driving capability of the
supply unit.

5/8
USER'S MANUAL
The interface can operate either with supply
voltages from 1 2V to 24V. When connecting the
input terminals to the power line, check that the
power supply output voltage is compatible with
the interface specifications and the LED devices
connected. The terminal block can accept
conductors with cross section between 0.5 and
1 .5 mm2; for fixing remove approximately 6-7 mm
of insulation from the wires.
Connect the power supply outputs marked "+V"
and "-V" to the power terminals of the control unit
marked with a "+" and "-", being careful not to
reverse the two wires: a wrong polarity can
permanently damage the device. For multiple
units connections, it is recommended to use
cables with at least 4mm2cross-section or larger,
according to the voltage drop calculations.
When connecting the power supply unit to the
mains outlet, pay attention to the right polarity L-
N-E labelled on the wiring terminals (colours:
brown = L, blue = N, yellow / green = E).
It is recommended that the power supply unit is
connected to the mains supply via its own switch,
so you can turn it on and off individually.
The optional remote controller LC2808 works with
a 3V button battery CR2025 (included).
CONNECTION TO THE BUS DMX
The connection between the control unit and the
various devices must be made with 2 core
screened cable, with each core having at least a
0.5mm2cross section, through the appropriate
terminal block. Care should be taken to ensure
that none of the connections touch each other and
objects as possible sources of interference.
On the terminal block in the rear panel, the three
terminals are labelled with "-" or metal shield, "D-"
or cold pole , "D+" or hot pole.
Connect to the terminal block the line "DMX OUT"
that starts from the control unit, taking into
account which wires are respectively connected to
"-", "D+" and "D- ". Be very careful to follow the
order of the three wires in the connections
downstream, since their reversal may result in
malfunction or damage to the unit.

USER'S MANUAL
RADIO CONTROLLER LC2808
The optional remote controller LC2808 with touch
sensitive interface allows to remotely control the
lights connected to the interface LC5003, which
must be supplied as described above.
Before you can use the remote controller, it is
necessary to associate the remote controller with
the interface which you want to control, so that it
"listens to" the digital control data and can
perform only those directed to it and ignore those
directed to other receivers.
Press and release the learning key on the body of
the unit and then press any of the buttons on the
remote controller; the light next to the learn button
on the receiver will flash to indicate the
association between the transmitter and the
interface receiver.
You can also use the same transmitter with
multiple receivers, for example if your installation
includes several LED fixtures and all must be
controlled in the same way. Simply repeat the
previous steps on each receiver of the system.
Instead, if there are different areas that need to be
independently controlled, it is required the use of
multiple remote controllers, associating each
remote controller to all the interfaces belonging to
the same zone.
The 1 0 keys on the remote controller carry out the
same functions as the corresponding touch pads
on the interface panel, and the signaling spy on
the front panel acts in the same manner described
above.
On / Off key
: turns the lights on and off; a long
press restores the factory settings.
Play / Pause key
: starts and pauses the internal
automatic sequence.
Speed keys
: increase or decrease the execution
speed of the automatic sequence.
Memory key
: plays in sequence one of the three
colours stored in the three memory cells of the
interface; you can store a new colour by holding
down the key after selecting the new colour
through the front panel, as described above.
Brightness key
: unlike the pad on the front panel,
a long press on this key will vary cyclically the
overall brightness of the connected devices, i.e. if
you do not release your finger, once you reach the
maximum or the minimum level, the brightness
adjustment will automatically restart in the
opposite direction, and so on until you release the
key.
R G B W colour keys
: a short press on one of the
colour keys turns on and off the light of the
corresponding colour; the other colours are not
affected.
Each long press on these keys increases or
decreases the brightness level of light of the
corresponding colour and each time you release
your finger the direction of the adjustment is
automatically reversed (if first the intensity was
increasing, the next press will decrease the
intensity starting from the current level reached
and vice versa).
The brightness adjustment stops when it reaches
one of the two extremes, even if the key is held
down. You must release your finger and press
again to regularly restart the brightness
adjustment.
To replace the battery, remove the rear cover of
the remote controller and remove the exhausted
CR2025 battery. Replace it with an equivalent
one, making sure to keep the positive side facing
up.
