GENERAL POWER TOOL
SAFETY WARNINGS
WARNING: Read all safety
warnings and all instructions.
Failure tofollow the warnings and
instructions may result in electric shock, fire
and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for

The term “power tool” in the warnings
refers to your electric (corded) power tool or
battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1) WORK AREA SAFETY
a) Keep work area clean and well lit.
Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do notoperate power toolsin
explosive atmospheres, such as in the
presence of flammableliquids, gases
or dust.Power tools create sparks which
may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders
away whileoperating apower tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose
control.
2) ELECTRICALSAFETY
a) Power tool plugs must match the
outlet. Never modify the plug in
any way. Do notuse any adapter
plugswith grounded power tools.
Unmodified plugs and matching outlets
will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with grounded
surfaces, such as pipes, radiators,
ranges and refrigerators.There is an
increased risk of electric shock if your
body is grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain
or wet conditions. Water entering a
power tool will increase the riskofelectric
shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use
the cord for carrying, pulling or
unplugging the power tool. Keep cord
away from heat, oil, sharp edges or
moving parts.Damaged or entangled
cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating apower tool
outdoors, use an extension cord
suitable for outdooruse. Use of acord
suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk
of electric shock.
f) If operating apower tool in adamp
location isunavoidable, use a residual
current device (RCD) protected
supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk
of electric shock.
3) PERSONALSAFETY
a) Stay alert, watch what you are
doing and use common sense when
operating apower tool. Do notuse
apower tool while you are tired or
under the influence ofdrugs, alcohol
or medication. A moment of inattention
while operating power tools may result in
serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment.
Always wear eye protection.Protective
equipment such as dust mask,
non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or
hearing protection used for appropriate
conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure
the switch isin the off-position before
connecting to power source and/or
battery pack, picking up or carrying
the tool. Carrying power tools with your
finger on the switch or energising power
tools that have the switch on invites
accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key orwrench
before turning the power tool on.A
wrench or a key left attached to a rotating
part of the power tool may result in
personal injury.
e) Do notoverreach. Keep proper
footing and balance at all times. This
enables better control of the power tool in
unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do notwear loose
clothing orjewellery. Keep your
hair, clothing and gloves away from
moving parts.Loose clothes, jewellery
or long hair can be caught in moving
parts.
g) Ifdevices are provided for the
connection ofdust extraction and
collection facilities, ensure these are
connected and properly used. Use of
dust collection can reduce dust-related

hazards.
4) POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
a) Do not force the power tool. Use
the correct power tool for your
application. The correct power tool will
do the job better and safer at the rate for
which it was designed.
b) Do notuse the power tool if the
switch does not turn iton and off.Any
power tool that cannot be controlled with
the switch is dangerous and must be
repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power
source and/or the battery pack from
the power tool before making any
adjustments, changing accessories,
or storing power tools. Such preventive
safety measures reduce the risk of
starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idlepower toolsoutof the reach
of children and do not allow persons
unfamiliar with the power tool or these
instructions to operate the power tool.
Power tools are dangerous in the hands
of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for
misalignment orbinding of moving
parts, breakage ofparts and any other
condition that may affect the power
tool’s operation. If damaged, have
the power tool repaired before use.
Many accidents are caused by poorly
maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
Properly maintained cutting tools with
sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind
and are easier tocontrol.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and
tool bits etc. in accordance with these
instructions, taking into account the
working conditions and the work to
be performed. Use of the power tool for
operations different from those intended
could result in a hazardous situation.
5) SERVICE
a) Have yourpower tool serviced by a
qualified repair person using only
identical replacement parts.This will
ensure that the safety of the power tool is
maintained.
b) If the replacement of the supply cord
is necessary, thishas to bedoneby
the manufacturer orhis agent in order
to avoid a safety hazard.

RULES FOR YOUR JIGSAW
1. Always wear a dust mask.
2. Hold power tool byinsulated
gripping surfaces when performing
an operation where the cutting tool
may contact hidden wiring orits own
cord. Contact with a” live” wire will make
exposed metal parts of the tool” live” and
shock the operator.
3. Use clamps or another practical way
to secure and support the workpiece
to a stableplatform. Holding the work
by hand or against your body leaves it
unstable and may lead to loss of control.
4. Always wear safety glasses or eye
shieldswhen using the jigsaw.
Everyday eyeglasses have only
impact-resistant lenses; they are NOT
safety glasses. Following this rule will
reduce the risk of serious personal injury.
5. Always wear hearing protection
during extended periodsofoperation.

6. Keep yourhands away from cutting
area. Do not reach under the material
being cut because the nearness of the
blade toyour hand is hidden from your
sight.
7. Do notuse dull ordamaged blades.
Bent blades can break easily, or cause
kickback.
8. Remove the plug from the socket before
carrying out any adjustment, servicing or
maintenance.
9. Fully unwind cable drum extensions to
avoid potential overheating.
10.When an extension cable is required you
must ensure it has the correct ampere
rating for your power tool and is in a safe
electrical condition.
11.Ensure your mains supply voltage is the
same as indicated on the rating plate.
12.Your tool is double insulated for

additional protection against a possible
electrical insulation failure within the
tool.
13.Always check walls, floors and ceilings
to avoid hidden power cables and pipes.
14.After long working period, external metal
parts and accessories could be hot.
15.Only withdraw the blade from the cut
when the blade has been stopped
moving.
16.The pivoting blade foot must be held
firmly against the material being cut to
reduce saw vibration, blade jumping and
blade breakage.
17.Before cutting, check the cutting line is
free of nails, screws, etc.
18.If possible, ensure the work-piece is
firmly clamped to prevent movement.
19.Never stop the cutting blade by applying
side pressure tothe blade.
20.Your Jigsaw is a hand held tools, do not
clamp your Jigsaw.
WARNING: Some dust particles
created bypower sawing, contain
chemicals known to cause cancer, birth
defects orother reproductive harm.
Some examples of these chemicals are:
•Lead from lead-based paints.
•Crystalline silica from bricks and cement
and other masonry products.
•Arsenic and chromium from chemically
treated lumber.
Your risk from these exposures varies,
depending upon how often you do this type
of work. To reduce your exposure tothese
chemicals:
•Work in a well-ventilated area.
•Work with approved safety equipment,
such as those dust masks that are
specially designed to filter microscopic
particles.

Maintain this tool in accordance with these instructions and keep well lubricated (where
appropriate).
If the tool is to be used regularly then invest in anti vibration accessories.
Avoid using tools in temperatures of 10oC or less.
Plan your work schedule tospread any high vibration tool use across a number of days.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: Before using the tool, read the
instruction book carefully.
INTENDED USE
The machine is intended for sawing wood,
plastic, metal and building materials while
resting firmly on the workpiece. It is suitable
for straight and curved cuts. The saw blade
recommendations are to be observed.
1. INSERT / FITTING THE SAW BLADE
NOTE: Remove the plug from the socket
before carrying out any adjustment,
servicing or maintenance.

NOTE: For best cutting results, ensure
you use a blade suited tothe material and
cutting quality you need.
2. SETTING THE CUTTING ANGLE
a) Release the clamp screws in the base
using the Hexagon- socket spanner 9.
b) Set the cutting angle 0° / 15° / 30° / 45°
(left / right) on the base plate . The
embossed marking for each recessed
line indicates the cutting angle setting.
c) Tighten the clamp screw using the
hex key.
3. SWITCHING ON / OFF
Depress the on/off switchtostart and
release tostop your tool.
Depress the on/off switchthen the switch
lock on button. Your tool is now locked on
for continuous use. To switch off your tool
just depress and release the on/off switch.
4. USING THE JIGSAW
Before using the saw and connecting the
mains cable, make sure the trigger switch
is in the off position.
a) Standard cutting
Set the base at 0° so that the saw blade
is at 90° with the base. Make sure that the
plug is disconnected from the mains.
Mark the cutting line on the work piece
(good side down) .Place the jig saw on the
work piece flat. Plug the power plug into
the wall outlet. Switch on the jigsaw until it
runs stably. Then the blade goes forwards
slowly along the cutting line while applying
light pressure on the saw.
Never force the jigsaw forward as this
will twist the blade and cause the cut to
be off line. Simply allow the jigsaw to do
the work and move the jigsaw forward to
maintain contact between the blade and
work piece.
a) Use the supplied hexagon-socket spanner
to undo the two screws on the ram.
b) Slide the saw blade into the guide slot and
up to the stop between the piston rod and
the retention clip.
c) Use the supplied hex key to tighten the
two screws. The teeth of the saw blade
must face in cutting direction.
Make sure that the saw blade sits firmly.

b) Bevel or angle cutting
To adjust the base to the desired angle
(refer to the description on Page 8. Mark
the cutting line on the work piece (good
side down) .Place the jig saw on the work
piece flat. Plug the power plug into the
wall outlet.Switch on the jigsaw until it
runs stably. Then the blade goes forwards
slowly along the cutting line while applying
light pressure on the saw.
c) Cutting metal
When sawing metal, coolant/lubricant
should be applied alongside cutting line
to ensure the blade remains cool.
WORK HINTS FOR YOUR TOOL
1. To avoid the jigsaw springing up and
down when sawing sheets, clamp wood
on both sides of the sheet. When cutting
metal, apply coolant oil along the cutting
line.
2. To use the jigsaw, put the front end of
the base plate on the material and turn
the machine on. Press the machine from
above onto the material and guide the jig
saw along the cutting line.
3. Do not use too much pressure to achieve
the best progress when sawing.
4. When sawing along a marked line use
the marking on the splitting guard as a
guide.
5. For exact cutting, clamp a timber batten
onto the material as an aid or use the
parallel guide.
6. For mitres/bevels cut, set the base plate
in the required position.
7. Set the base plate to its rearmost position
for cutting close to an edge.
9.If your power tool becomes too hot,
especially when used at low speed, set
the speed to maximum and run no load
for 2-3 minutes to cool the motor. Avoid
prolonged usage at very low speeds.
Maintenance and Cleaning
•Before any work on the machine itself remove
the plug from the mains socket.
•Always keep the machine and ventilation slots
clean.
•Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign
matter has entered the grills near the motor
and around the trigger switch. Use a soft brush
to remove any accumulated dust.
•Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes whilst
cleaning and using the unit.
•If the body of the tool needs cleaning, wipe it
with a soft damp cloth. A mild detergent can be
used but nothing like alcohol, petrol or other
cleaning agent.
•Never use caustic agents to clean plastic part.
•Lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals.
CAUTION! Water must never come into
contact with the tool.
Trouble shooting
Jigsaw has no
power
• Check plug fuse
Blade comes
loose
• Blade was not seated
correctly. Push blade
firmly into the chuck
• The screws of blade
holder is not set firmly.
Tighten the screws
firmly by hex key.
Jigsaw does not
cut straight
•Too much forward force
is being applied to the
jigsaw

for the material being cut.
Check the speed and
pendulum settings.
• Blade is twisted or blunt.
Replace blade
Note: Some sparking from the motor may be
visible through the venting of this unit and is
normal.

PLUG REPLACEMENT
Your Power Tool is supplied with a fitted
plug, however if you need to fit a new plug
follow the instruction below.
IMPORTANT
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in
accordance with the following code:
Blue= Neutral Brown = Live
As the colours of the wires in the mains
lead of this appliance may not correspond
with the coloured markings identifying the
terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured blue must be
connected tothe terminal which is marked
with N.
The wire which is coloured brown must be
connected tothe terminal which is marked
with the letter L.
If a 13 AMP (BS 1363/A)Plug is used, a
13 AMP Fuse must be fitted, or if any other
type of plug is used a 13 AMP Fuse must be
fitted, either in the Plug or Adaptor, or on the
Distribution Board.
Note:If a moulded plug is fitted and has to
be removed take great care in disposing
of the plug and severed cable, it must
be destroyed to prevent engaging into a
socket.
If the supply cord is damaged it must be
replaced by a service agent or a similarly
qualified person in order to avoid hazard.
