Features
Plays back DVD Folder, VCD, MPEG1, MPEG2, DivX/Xvid(AVI) movie files, MP3, WAV
music files, JPEG photo and graphic files.
Supports both NTFS and FAT32 file system.
Supports both NTSC and PAL TV systems.
Supports video output up-scaling to 1080i.
Supports HDMI and component video output.
Supports Music Slideshow
•This device is not for in-car entertainment use. Unstable power or vibration may
damage this device.
•Do not use an AC adapter other than the one provided with the retail package;
Any damage caused by unauthorized adapters will void the warranty.
TV screen does not display normally:
•Press TV SYS button to switch output TV system. (See page 29 for more
detail).

Storage media: USB Flash Drive / USB external HDD (USB card readers are not supported)

The Remote Control
Using the Remote Control for the First Time
For the first time use of the remote control, pull out the tab
to enable the battery power of the remote control.
Changing the Battery of the Remote Control
If the battery becomes depleted, change the battery according to the following instructions:
Take out the battery holder
1. Turn the remote control on its back, and then press
the tab on the left side with fingernailn. Hold and pull
at the indentationoto take out the battery unit.
Load the new battery
(+ towards up)
2. The battery model of this remote control is CR2025.
Refer to the illustration to insert the battery accurately
with the positive terminal facing up – see illustration
below.

3. Place the new battery and make sure it is inserted and
seated securely.
Write down the part number
It is recommended to write down the part number on the
back of the remote. You can use it to purchase a new
remote from our dealer if the remote is missing.

How do I use this device?
Copy media files from your computer to a USB storage device, and then connect it to this
device. Then connect this device to your TV or Home Theater. The User Interface is
somewhat intuitive like a Browser. Try starting with and buttons.
How do I play media files on my TV?

Connect this device to your TV with correct cables.
Plug the AC adapter into the Power Connector to turn it on.
Press the STANDBY button on the remote control to activate this device.

What if my TV screen displays unstable image?
Press the TV SYS button to switch output TV system. (See page 29 for more detail)
How to configure settings?

This device supports FAT16/32, and NTFS file systems.
This device supports USB external HDDs and USB Flash drives.
This device does not supports USB Flash drives smaller than 512MB in capacity.
This device does not support file system with Allocation Unit Size smaller than 4096 bytes.

This device does not support USB Hubs and USB card readers.
This device does not support USB external CD/DVD/BD/HDDVD/other ODD drives.
Mounting of a USB External Storage
This device automatically mounts a USB external storage connected.
Safely Remove of a USB external HDD
1. Press the HOME button on the remote control. The DEVICES menu will be shown on
the screen.

The “STOP” message will be shown on the screen.
When “NO DEVICE” message being shown on the screen, it is safe to remove the USB
external HDD.
Safely Remove of a USB Flash Drive
Press the HOME button on the remote control. The DEVICES menu will be shown on
the screen.

If a USB external storage is removed without Safely Remove processes, the “SURPRISE
REMOVE” message will be shown on the screen.
This device will automatically reboot in this situation.
•Removing the USB device without the Safely Remove processes may cause
system to hang and damage the device. Please always follow the Safely
Remove processes when removing the USB device.

Media Files for Playback
When using this device as a media player, it can only browse and play back some specific
media file formats. For supported media file formats, please refer to [Playing Back Media
Files]. (page 17)

USB Connection
This device can play back the following media files:
DVD movie files
DivX/Xvid (DivX 3.11/4.x/5.x) movie files: The filename extensions are avi, divx, xvid
DivX/Xvid subtitle files: The filename extensions are srt, sub, idx/sub, smi, psb, ass, ssa
VCD files: The filename extension is dat
MPEG1 / MPEG2 files: The filename extensions are mpg, mpe, mpeg, m2p, vob
Audio and music files: The filename extensions are wav, mp3,
Photo and graphic files: The filename extensions are jpg, jpe, jpeg
•If your files are larger than 4GB. You’ll need to format this device in NTFS for
storing large files.
•If your file has any of the following attributes attached to it, you may find it
missing in Detail View/Thumbnail View modes:
“Hidden”, “Encrypted”, “Compressed” and “System Folder”
Media Files Not Supported
Some media files, such as WMV, ASF or MOV files, can’t be played back with this device. Also
some AVI files may not be played back correctly due to the codec and the resolution are not
supported by this device. Please use video convert software to convert these files into MPEG1,
MPEG2, or DivX 3.11/4.x/5.x format.

Connecting to AV Equipments
HDMI Connection
The HDMI connector can output both digital audio/video signals. Many HDTV sets and digital
AV receivers support this type of connection. (HDMI cable not provided)
To a TV:

If the HDMI cable is disconnected in playback, this device will stop playback immediately.
Note:
Some TV sets are equipped with DVI input ports, which will receive video
signals only, but these DVI ports use HDMI connectors instead of standard DVI
connectors. If you find no audio signal output while using HDMI connection,
connect the Composite Audio Connection or the Coaxial Audio Connection as
an auxiliary.
Composite Audio/Video Connection
The composite audio/video is compatible with most TV sets and AV amplifiers (receivers.)
Yellow: Video signal; White: Left audio channel; Red: Right audio channel.

Component Video Connection (Y/Pb/Pr)
If your TV supports Component Video input (Y/Pb/Pr), you can connect it for better video

quality. You will have to connect the audio cable for audio output. You can also configure
display ratio, progressive scan, and the 1080I/720P up-scaling output in SETUP MENU >
VIDEO SETUP .
Note:
Some TV sets are equipped with separate composite and component audio
inputs. Be sure that you have connected the correct one.

Coaxial Audio Connection
For a high quality digital audio, you connect this connector to an AV receiver which equips a
digital audio decoder. (Coaxial cable not provided)

Connect the DC jack of the AC adapter to the connector marked “DC IN”, plug the other
end into an electrical outlet.
Press STANDBY button on the remote to activate this device for playback.
Shutting Down
1. Press the HOME button on the remote control. The DEVICES menu will be shown on
the screen.
2. Press the STANDBY button on the remote control to shut down this device.

•When using the remote control, point the remote control towards the remote
receiver.
•During the remote control operation, the inhibit icon will appear on the
screen when a button of non-available operation is pressed.
•If the setting of the video output is incorrect, the TV screen will not display
normally. Switch to correct setting by pressing the TV SYS button to switch
output TV system. (See page 29 for more detail).

HDMI Cable Connection Behavior

In 480I / 480P / 576I / 576P component output settings, it automatically switches to 720P
when a HDMI cable is connected. It switches back to previous setting when the HDMI
cable is removed.
In 720P/1080I component output setting, its output setting will not be altered by the
connection of HDMI cable.
Playback (video/audio/photo/playlist), Setup Menu, Thumbnail
View
In 480I / 480P / 576I / 576P component output setting, it will automatically switches to
720P when a HDMI cable is connected. But when the HDMI cable is connected, it will not
switch to 720P until the return of Detail View mode.
Assume a HDMI cable is connected and it automatically switches to 720P from previous
settings. When the HDMI cable is removed, it will not switch back to the previous settings
until the return of Detail View mode.
TV SYS Button
When the HDMI cable is connected, press TV SYS button to switch 50Hz/60Hz in toggle.
When the HDMI cable is not connected, the TV SYS button remains its normal function:
1080I -> 720P -> 576P -> 576I -> 480P -> 480I -> PAL -> NTSC -> (PAL / NTSC toggle)

Detail View
When this device is connected to a TV and activated for playback, all folders and media files
will appear on the screen as the figure shown below. This mode is called “Detail View”.

The top level of the directory tree is called the “ROOT” folder. While there are some
operations reserved at the ROOT level only, it is recommended to categorize your
files in folders rather than to save all of them underneath the root folder.
Operations of “Detail View”
Function Remote control buttons
Select item •Press button to select an item, /for previous or
next page. The highlighted area indicates the selected item.
•You can press 0~9 buttons to select the number of the target file. If
the selected file is recognizable, this device will start playback.
•You CANNOT perform selection by pressing 0~9 button under the
“ROOT” folder.
Play back •Press the button on a selected folder to play all media files inside
that folder, or to play a single file if only one file is selected.

•If a folder contains no recognizable media file, pressing the
button will open that folder.

Thumbnail View
To switch to the Thumbnail View, press the MENU button on the remote control. Thumbnail
View is ideal of browsing photos.

Operation of “Thumbnail View”
Function Remote control buttons
Activate •Press MENU button on the remote control to activate the Thumbnail
View mode. Press it again to go back to the Detail View mode.
Select Item •Press button to select an item, /for
previous or next page. The highlighted area indicates the selected
item.
•Some functions like SETUP, HOME and the DISPLAY are
disabled.
Play Slideshow
•Pressing the button on a JPEG file will start the “Slideshow”
display mode. The photos will be displayed in series with a fixed
interval from the one being played now.
•Press /button will play the previous / next file.
•You can setup the interval between each slide at SETUP MENU >
PREFERENCE > S.S. INTERVAL . This setup is only available at Detail
View mode. You need to press MENU key to switch to Detail View

Slideshow
•Press button will pause the slideshow play. In the pause state,
press ZOOM button to enlarge the photo image in a recurring
sequence; press ANGLE button to rotate the photo image
counterclockwise.
•Press /button will play the previous / next file.
•Press button again to continue playing the Slideshow.
Play Music
Slideshow
•Music Slideshow function allows you to play photo slideshow and
music at the same time.

Put music and photo files you want to play in the same folder.
Play the first photo file listed. The Music Slideshow will start
automatically.
In “folder play” operation, the play mode is determined by the first
file within.
If the first file is a graphic file, it plays Music Slideshow.
If the first file is a music file, it plays music only.
If all music files have been played once and the slideshow is not
finished yet, it will repeat all music files all over again.
If all photo files have been played once, it will stop playback.
The maximum number of files within a folder is 2048.
(including a maximum of 100 music files)
The Music Slideshow function does not support 1080I
mode.
