1. General notes
Dear customer,
Thank you for deciding to acquire a product from ASA Autotechnik. Our products are
developed under stringent current European and national directives and safety topics are
taken into careful consideration. To ensure damage does not occur due to improper
installation or use, please read these operating instructions carefully and completely and
then store them. All electronic articles from our production haven been checked to 100 %
and can therefore be installed directly.
We reserve the right at any time to make changes that serve the purpose of technical
progress.
For warranty claims, return the device and include the proof of purchase and a detailed
description of the error. The statutory warranty regulations apply.
The warranty claim will be voided due to:
a) unauthorized modifications to the device or accessories which we have not
implemented nor approved
b) repairs to the device which you have performed yourself
c) improper use / not intended use or operation
d) device subjected to excessive force (falling, deliberate destruction, accident, etc.)
Comply with all safety-related and legal regulations during the installation.

General safety instructions:
- Do not drop the device! Avoid damage! If the device fell down or if the casing is
damaged, please contact us.
- Risk of fire or short-circuit! Do not expose the device to rain or other forms of moisture.
Mount the power electronics in the splash-proof area of your eBike. Do not direct a high
pressure cleaner towards the device.
- Risk of fire or short-circuit! Do not stress the adapter cable mechanically by, e.g.,
extending or crushing it.
- Risk of fire or short-circuit! Never insert foreign objects into the housing! The objects
could cause short-circuits.
- Risk of fire or short-circuit! If the cable or the cable connector of the device is damaged,
disconnect the plug and contact us.
- If smoke, noise and/or odour develop, shut off the device and disconnect it immediately
from the power supply. Do not continue to use the device!
- Only use the device in its intended area. Inappropriate use, improper installation or
modifications will render the warranty void.
Important information on product safety and legal situation (liability):
(At the latest) after installation of the tuning module, the eBike is legally no longer classified
as a bike, but as a motor vehicle. Furthermore, the use of the tuning module is manipulation
of the speed of eBikes, which is not legally allowed on public roads. The eBike must not be
used on public roads after the installation of tuning module. This may apply in particular
cases already in the deactivated mode.
(At the latest) after installation of the tuning module has the following duties, which constitute
a violation against that could be an offense:
• Homologation
•Helmets are mandatory
• Insurance registration
• Driving license duty
• Operating license requirement; a possibly previously granted approval expires.
• Control and / or compulsory insurance (esp. motor vehicle liability insurance).
Personal liability insurance does not apply. Further, another insurance class is possibly
applicable. After installing the tuning module, the eBike is used outside of the validated and
intended use as an bike.
Lifetime specifications of the drive system of the eBike and the eBike itself is no longer valid,
since a higher load and a higher wear may be associated with the use of the tuning module.
Furthermore, it is impossible to estimate whether the frame, fork, handlebars, brakes,
suspension, tires and other safety-relevant components are designed for the increased load,
especially for the higher speed.
Warranty claims, warranty claims or product liability claims against the seller or
manufacturer of the eBike or the drive system can be reduced or extinguished.

Basically, you bear the civil, criminal and offense responsibility. In particular, the installation
and use of the tuning module may result in criminal or administrative offense legal
consequences for you. Furthermore, it may cause damage to property or persons due to

4. Description
The ASA SPEED Y25.01 electronics cancels the speed limit of the motor assistance of your
Bosch eBike without making concessions to the functionality of your HMI. The speed you
are currently driving will always be displayed regardless of whether the tuning is active or
deactivated. The motor assistance is not limited to 25 km/h, rather, any speed values can
be achieved. After the installation your eBike will continue to function as previously
accustomed, but now the motor assistance will not be switched off as of 25 km/h.
After installation, the electronics will automatically adjust to the different tyre sizes.
Calibration can be reactivated at any time by activating a special code so that its continued
use is possible in future YAMAHA eBikes with other tyre sizes.
Installation occurs with original YAMAHA connectors and has been designed in such a way
that cable damage is prevented enabling the re-establishment of the original state at any
time.
Tuning is activated automatically in all assistance modes and deactivated in the OFF mode.
It is not necessary to activate the light function; also the plug sockets in the motor for lights
will not be used for our electronics.
The individual features of the electronics are in summary:
Microprocessor controlled micro-electronics
Installation without damaging the cables and thus the possibility of simply converting
back to the original
Cancellation of the 25 km/h limit in all modes
Full HMI functionality, in particular of the speedometer and the additional functions (km,
max. speed, average speed, etc.)
Self-calibration for different tyre sizes
No additional switches, cables, dongles, attachments, etc. necessary or visible
Sturdy welded structure of the electronics

Possibility to check the function during the installation with status LEDs
The ASA SPEED Y25.01 is suitable for all YAMAHA ebikes with YAMAHA Display.
5. Installation
The Assembly is achieved by removal of engine protection shield and by removing 2 screws
of the engine mounting, so the engine can clap to the ground.
Required tools:
-3mm Allen (hexagon key) screw driver
-5mm Allen (hexagon key) screw driver
-8mm Allen (hexagon key) screw driver
Before installation, the battery must be removed.
Loosen the 4 Allen screws of the engine protection with a 3 mm Allen screw driver.
Remove the engine protection and now turn the ebike. The next work is carried out from the
other side. Now loosen with a 6 mm Allen tool the 3 screws of the motor.

Depending on the degree of freedom of the eBike design, the lower bolt screw can be kept
in the frame and the engine can simply folded down. You have now access to the electrical
connections.
Open the plug connector from the 3- and 4-pin connector by pressing the locking and pulling
apart the plug.

6. Connecting the ASA SPEED module
The ASA SPEED Y25 module has 4 plugs that can be used as adapter and can be looped
into the existing wiring. Now connect the matching connectors with the module.

7. Commissioning and assembly
Temporarily connect the battery of the eBike for a function test. Switch on the HMI. A speed
indication will briefly appear, e.g., 5.5 km/h and the yellow LED will flash. Wait is completed
by display again of 0.0 km/h.
This is a calibration of the electronics to your bicycle and the electronics are determining the
parameters in order to work correctly, depending on your eBike. If the electronics behave
otherwise, check the connections.
After calibration and with each start of your eBike a short animation of the battery indicator
appears. If this run in the direction from empty to full, it means that the tuning is active. Does
the capacity indicator runs from full to empty, the tuning is off.
To switch the tuning go to the High Mode and within 2 seconds in the standard mode and
back to the High Mode. Power-up is acknowledged with the animation. In addition, the green
LED indicates the active tuning.
To turn off, simply go to the Off mode.
If this is successfully passed, then you can store the tuning modules in the frame tube going
to the seat or towards HMI.

Attach possibly all cables with cable ties or additional tape, so that the motor can be folded
back easily. Now fit the three bolts of the motor bracket and tighten.
The tightening torque is as follows:
- Bolts of the motor bracket 8mm 12-19 Nm
Now fit again the engine protection in the reverse order of installation.
