Troubleshooting Tips
Intheunlikelyeventyour network is not operatingproperly,follow the
troubleshootingtips below.
■Checkyour power connection.Is the green PowerLEDon?Ifnot,plugthe
powermodule into a differentACoutlet.
■Checkyour networkcable.IsthegreennetworkLinkLEDon? If not,try
connectinga“knowngood”networkcable between your switch and the
adapter.Youshould see aLink LED on your switch and your networkadapter.
Themaximum distance from anynode (computer,printer,hub,switch,etc.)is
328feetor100meters.Besureyourcable isnot coiled,twistedordamaged.
Whenconnectingthe switch to a computer,be sure your Category 5 UTP cable
iswiredfor straight-through;pins1,2,3 and 6 should bematchedpin-for-pin
onbothends.Notethat pins 3 and6 must use the sametwisted pair;these
aretypicallyorange/white orange or green/whitegreen.
■Checkyour uplink switch.Whenconnectingto another hub or switch,set the
switchto uplink on onlyone hub/switch and use a standard,straight-through
networkcable.Thisswitchmaybeconnectedtoanother10/100Mbpsswitch
orhub,but it will only run at10 Mbps.
■Checkyourcomputer’ssoftware.Checkyouroperatingsystemmanual for
instructionsonconfiguringyournetworkforfileandprintsharing.
