2 Description
The controller board (NUMIPCE) is a board that replaces the NIAM (Intelligent Address Module) of a
teleCARE M system. On top of this board a Room Controller NIRC4–H can be mounted. The NUMIPCE-H
board offers 4 dual roombuses (8 in total) with a 24Vdc power supply to the rooms. At the room side,
NUMIPPE-H modules are needed to convert the power supply down to 5.5Vdc.
Packing List:
• 1 Controller board NUMIPCE-H
• 1 Room Controller NIRC4–H
• 4x 6-pin connector for interconnection between the NIRC4–H Room Controller and the NUMIPCE-H
board
If speech is needed in this installation, an NIVP–H speech module is needed.
The 8–pin connectors on the NIAM can be reused for the roombuses on the NUMIPCE-HE board.

3 Installation
The NUMIPCE–H is an printed circuit board with no specific ingress protection. This board is meant to be
mounted in the plastic housing of the NIAM (Intelligent Address Module) of an existing teleCARE M installa-
tion. After mounting and installing of the NUMIPCE-H and the Room Controller (NIRC4) in this plastic
housing, the ingress protection is IP40.

tion and maintenance of the NUMIPCE-H. To ensure a safe working environment during the installation and

6 Mounting
The module mounts inside existing NIAM (Intelligent Address Module, teleCARE M) plastic housing.
Caution: To prevent a fire hazard because of dust buildup inside the module, correct
mounting and cleaning before operation is required.
Caution: To prevent an electrical hazard only (existing) plastic housing can be used.
6.1 Mount in an existing NIAM housing
The following shows how to mount the NUMIPCE-H and the NIRC4–H boards into an existing NIAM-housing.
The graphics below do not show the mounted cabling while that might obstruct the view of the graphics.
1. Vacate the housing of a NIAM in which the NUMIPCE-H board is to be placed
2. Cable outlets
The NIAM-housing has several removable parts. By removing these parts, space is created for the
cabling. Especially if multiple NIAM-housings are mounted in parallel, the cables can run from one
module to the next module.
Legend:
(1) Removable plastic covers for LAN cable and (24Vdc)power supply
(2) 4 Clips for fixation of NUMIPCE-H board
(3) Break-away part to accommodate cabling. Use a wire cutter or pliers to break away.
(4) Removable plastic covers for roombus cables.

3. Connect the 24Vdc power lines to the 2–pin power connector on the NUMIPCE-H board.
The power supply should only be switched on after the installation is complete and verified.
4. Placing of the NUMIPCE-H board
Press down the board firmly, the board clicks into the housing using the 4 clips.
Check that the board is clicked down by all clips, otherwise the lid of the housing might not
close later on.

5. Connect all the roombus cables to the 8–pin connectors. Use either NICT-8AA or NICT-8CA
connectors
The NIAM connectors can be used for the NUMIPCE-H board. The NIAM has 10 buses, the
NUMIPCE-H uses only 8 buses.
The wiring color scheme for the NIAM can be used for the NUMIPCE-H. The same wiring color
scheme must be used on the room side for the stepdown converter modules (NUMIPPE-H).

7. Cable routing
The roombus cables must be routed toward the break-away part of the housing. The lid of the housing
might otherwise not close. Remove the break-away to make space for the cables.

8. Prepare the NIRC4 board::
Legend:
(1) NIVP speech board
(2) LAN connector
(3) 4x Roombus
− If speech is used: connect the NIVP board (see item 1)
− Connect the LAN cable (see item 2)
Warning: Do not use PoE
− Screw the four provided 6–pin connectors tightly on the 4 roombuses (item 3) of the NIRC4. The
connectors are mounted on pin2–7, pin 1 and pin 8 are left vacant.
9. Mount the NIRC4 onto the NUMIPCE-H board.
The four 6–pin connectors must line-up with the four 6–pin headers on the NUMIPCE-H board. Press
firmly and ensure that the NIRC4 board is level.

10. Check all connections and cables after mounting
11. Close the lid of the housing
The lid clicks firmly onto the housing. If the lid cannot be closed firmly, check that the NIRC4 is
correctly mounted onto the NUMIPCE-H board. Also check that none of the cables is
obstructing the lid.
