1. Introduction
● This appliance is specically designed to peel round and oval fruits and vegetables.
● Improper use of the unit may result in a breakdown or an accident.
● Before using the unit, read this manual carefully, and pay careful attention to inspection and
maintenance and also safety.

Please read these instructions carefully before operating the peeler, and be sure to operate it correctly.
● Important safety items are set out on the following pages, so be sure and follow them.

Operating the unit on an unstable surface may result in a breakdown or in-

Always turn the power button “off” and unplug the power cord before re-

The left side of the unit is not waterproof, so do not allow water, etc.to
come in direct contact. Do not use strong water pressure when applying
water during cleaning. Water may enter from the unavoidable gaps and
cause electric shock, re, or malfunction.
Always confirm that the unit is completely powered off before touching
any part of it. Failure to do so may result in injury.
Never touch the mounting prong while the peeler is in operation. Turn the main
switch to “OFF” before touching the prong. Failure to do so may result in serious
injury.
The peeling blade is extremely sharp. Use adequate care when replacing it.
Failure to do so may result in injury.
When xing the prong to the shaft, be sure to follow the instructions in this manual.
Failure to do so may result in injury and/or damage to the unit.
Always inspect the mounting prong before, during, and after using the unit, and
ensure that it is not broken or missing. If the prong or a part of it is found to be
missing, all of the peeled fruit must be inspected, or thrown out. If the prong is
damaged in any way, do not use it. Replace it.

1) Operate the unit from a 100V power source.
2) Handle the power cord with care.
3) Take care when plugging or unplugging the power cord.
4) Take care when using lubricant.
5) Do not place an object on the unit, or lean or stand on it.
Failure to do so may result in injury or damage to the unit.
Operating the unit from a power source of other than the intended volt-
age, or using it near a different voltage source or a source of electrical
noise, may result in injury or damage to the unit.
Do not apply excessively to the specied locations. Failure to observe the above
precautions may result in damage to the unit.
As lubricant, use the supplied grease for food machinery. Do not use lubricant
that is not certied by the manufacturer. Failure to observe the above precautions
may result in damage to the unit.
Caution!
Do not unplug the power cord using unreasonable force, damage it, shape it, bend
it with unreasonable force, or bunch it. Keep the cord away from a source of heat
or oil, and do not place anything heavy on it. Any of the above can result in an
electrical shock, re, or damage to the unit.
Never plug or unplug the power cord with wet hands. Before plugging or unplug-
ging the power cord, make sure that the power is switched “OFF.” Always unplug
the power cord by pulling the plug, not the cord. Failure to do so may result in an
electrical shock, re or damage to the equipment.
Only apply to specied locations. Failure to observe the above precautions may
result in damage to the unit.
14) Use adequate caution when attaching and operating the peeler blade.
Warning!
Never touch the peeling blade while the unit is operating. Always turn the switch
to “OFF” before handling the peeling blade. Failure to do so may result in serious
injury.
The peeling blade is extremely sharp. Use adequate care when replacing it.
Failure to do so may result in injury.
Always inspect the peeling blade before, during and after using the equipment to
ensure that it is not broken. If the blade is found to be broken, all peeled fruit must
be inspected, or thrown out. If the peeling blade is damaged in any way, do not
use it. Replace it.

6) Upon taking delivery of the unit, check to see that no damage has occurred, and
no parts (screws, nuts, etc.) have come loose or separated in transit.
7) When storing or operating the unit, observe the following precautions.
1. Temperature and humidity: Store at 0 – 30°C, and relative humidity below 85%.
2. Place the unit on a rm, level oor.
3. Keep away from salt air, ammable or corrosive gases, radiation, high heat or humidity, sulfur
smoke, and other pollutants.
4. Keep away from oil and oil smoke.
5. Keep away from mist or moisture.
6. Keep away from direct sunlight.
7. Take steps to prevent the entry of insects, rodents, etc.
8. Install in a well-ventilated indoor location.

2) Assemble the installation base.
● To assemble the installation base, fasten with the assembly screws [(2) - ⑤] using the attached
spanner 8 mm [(1) - ⑬]. Place the washer [(2) - ⑥] onto the assembly screws and use the plate
nuts [(2) - ⑦] on one side.
● Please fasten the chute base [(2) - ⑧] to the installation base with the fastening screws [(2) - ⑨].
Prepare a + screwdriver.
● Attach the chute [(2) - ①].

(3) Place the main unit on the installation base and fasten
1. Connection stay 2. Main-body connection
Use the supplied wrench 7 mm [(1) - ⑫] to remove
the connection stay [(2) - ②].
Place the main unit on the installation base and fas-
ten by placing the stays on the connecting parts on
the front, rear and bottom surfaces of the main unit.
Please be careful not to drop the main unit when fastening it
to the installation base. Failure to do so may result in injury or
damage to the unit.
Warning!
(4) Adjust the height of the feet of the installation base.
● Use the wrench 19 mm + 21 mm [(2) - ④] to adjust the height according to the oor of the instal-
lation site and stabilize.
(5) Adjust the chute.

The operation of the Start/Stop button differs according to the following
conditions.
Pressing and holding down the button will power up the unit, and
initiate the “reset” mode.
Press and hold down the button (for more than 2 seconds) in the “Item
Selection” mode to enter the “Specify Selection” mode.
Press the “Start” button to select a preferred setting.
Ready mode: The turntable rotates one segment and starts peeling.
Note: Peeling will not commence if there is no item (fruit)
mounted on the xing prong.

The operation of the Start/Stop button differs according to the following
conditions.
Ready mode: The turntable rotates one segment and the ejector oper-
ates. By pushing after peeling the last peeled item, the
nest item is discharged without peeling.
During peeling: Stops peeling.

4. Peeling thickness
adjustment buttons
These buttons adjust the peeling action according to the thickness of
the peel. Move the arrow left or right to adjust the spin speed to suit the
item. These buttons are used to perform adjustment in ten steps (0 to 9)
which are displayed as bars on the screen.
Press the “ ” button to reduce the number of passes and increase
the peeling thickness.
Press the “ ” button to increase the number of passes and reduce
the peeling thickness.

5. Spin speed adjust-
ment buttons
These buttons adjust the speed of item rotation (fixing prong spin
speed.) Move the arrow left or right to adjust the spin speed to suit the
item. Six available speeds are indicated by bars on the display.

6. Correct Use of the FAP-1001
1) Pre-operation preparation
● In order to prevent a possible electric shock please connect a ground fault interrupter to this unit.
● Install the unit in a well-lit area free of clutter or obstacles.
● When using an extension cord, conrm that the cord is undamaged. Use a 1500W rated extension
cord. The cord should be as short as possible.
● Fasten the main unit to the installation base.
● Set "Receiving container" for the peeled item discharge position and skin drop position.
● Plug the power cord into the inlet of the main unit and plug the cord plug into the power outlet. Make sure
that the power switch is not turned ON.
2) Pre-operation inspection
● Check to see that the xing prong is properly attached. ( See page 15)
Caution!
If the prong is not properly tted to the unit, there is a danger
that it will come into contact with the peeler blade, damaging
both of these parts.
• Check that the xing prong is free of damage. If it is bent, or makes a rattling noise, it must be re-
paired or replaced.
● Check the state of the spring. Replacement is necessary when it is fractured. ( See page 14)
Caution!
When a fractured spring is used:
● The arm and the fixing prong may come into contact with
each other and cause damage.
● The arm may fall and be damaged.
• Check that the peeling blade is free of damage. If the blade is dented or bent, it must be replaced.
(See page 14)
• Check to see that the arm is correctly attached. If it is not, the peeler will not function properly.
(See page 13)
Caution!
If the arm is not attached correctly, it may contact the fixing
prong, causing damage to these parts.

● Be sure that the arm is in the correct starting position. If the arm is not in the correct starting po-
sition, the peeler will not start when the “Start” button is pressed. Always start the peeler with the
arm in the correct starting position. ( See page 13)
● Check the installation state of the ejector. ( See page 16)
Caution!
If the arm is not attached correctly, it may contact the fixing
prong, causing damage to these parts.
● Make sure the size of the push plate is suitable for the xed prong. ( See page 21)

Inappropriate size may cause malfunction.

7. How to Operate the FAP-1001
1) Turn the power switch “On.” ( Reference pages: 24, 36)
● “Astra FAP-1001” will be displayed on the operation screen, followed by the Settings Menu. At
the same time, if the arm is not at the home position in the origin conrmation operation, the arm
returns to the home position, and the ejector operates after the turntable rotates one segment. If
there is no abnormality, the lamp lights up "Green".
● Hold down the start button while the two color lamp on the control panel is lit, the settings are
switched to the reset settings.
2) Use the Start button to choose the settings for the type of item to be
peeled. ( reference page: 24)
● Press and hold the button to switch to the detailed setting. ( See page 24)
● After conrming that each part is axed, the unit will display the Standby mode screen (for se-
lecting peeling thickness & spin speed.) ( See page 24, 25)
● If “Arm position wrong – correct” is displayed, return the arm to the correct starting position, and
press the Start button again.
3) Pierce and afx the item to peel on the xing prong in the insertion position.
● Adjust the item so that the prong penetrates the center (core) of the fruit.
● Adjust the item so that it touches the base of the prong.
● In the process of piercing the item, the rotating shaft attached to the xing prong will be pushed in
to the standby state.
● When not in the standby state (state of not piercing anything), the start button will not function and
cannot be operated even if pressed.
● If you failed to pierce and removed the item;
1) Re-pierce the item, or pierce another item to peel.
2) Press the "Cancel/Turn" button without piercing anything.
Caution!
Pressing the "Start" button when there is no item to be peeled,
the fixing prong and peeler blade will come into contact and
damage will occur.
4) Press the “Start” button.
● The turntable rotates, the item to peel moves to the peeling position, and peeling starts.
● During peeling the lamp ashes "Green".
5) Pierce the next item to peel with the xing prong at the insertion position and press
the "Start" button.
● When the next item to peel is placed on the xing prong during peeling and the "Start" button is
pressed, peeling is reserved. When reserved, the "Start" button itself will light up.
● The turntable rotates, and the nshed peeled item is moved to the discharge position.
● The ejector at the discharge position pushes the peeled material away from the xing prong. The
standby state is released at the same time.

8. How to Remove and Attach Parts
1) The Arm
● The Arm holds the peeling blade. It can be removed and fully immersed for washing. When re-
moving the arm it is recommended that the xing prong also be removed.
The peeler blades are extremely sharp.
Handle with care to avoid injuring your hands.

● To attach the arm, place the two holes at the base of the arm over the two pins on the arm holder,
then attach the hooked end(s) of the spring(s) to the groove(s) on the arm shaft.
If not properly attached, peeling cannot be performed well.

4. Return the arm counterclockwise 90° to the original position by hand. Listen for the “click” to verify that the arm is
in the correct position.
● If the arm does not return to the correct start position, peeling will not commence when the Start
button is pressed. “Arm position wrong - correct” will be displayed on the display screen. Adjust
the arm to the correct start position, and press the “Start” button.

2) The Spring
● To replace the spring, it is best to remove the arm rst.

First, pull the clip to remove it. Then
the spring holder can be removed.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove
the spring from the holder.
● Align the nipple on the inside of the spring holder with the corresponding concave part on the in-
side of the Arm holder, and then install the arm holder. Firmly insert the clip to the rear to prevent
it from dropping out at the position where the leaf spring is on the plate side.

3) Peeler blade
● When replacing the peeler blade it is easiest to rst remove the arm from the unit.
The peeler blades are extremely sharp. Handle with care to
avoid injuring your hands. laceration.

Loosen the roller screw. Loosen the screw until the blade can be turned 360°.

Remove the fulcrum of the peeler from the cut of the
hole of the arm.
Remove the fulcrum of the peeler on the opposite side
from the hole of the arm.
● When replacing the blade, make sure that of the unit’s orientation of the unit is the same, and then
carry out the reverse the procedure.

4) Fixing prong
● You can remove the prong and immerse it for washing.
● The prong is xed to the drive shaft axle with a clip. Remove the clip, then remove the prong.
● If the clip (with xing prong) is left attached for an extended period, it may become stuck due to
fruit juice residue, etc.

The xing prongs are extremely sharp. Always exercise caution
to avoid cutting or stabbing your hand when placing an item on
the prong.
Warning!
● To afx the prong to the drive shaft axle, carry out the reverse the procedure.
Line up the holes in the xing prong base and the drive shaft axle, and then insert the clip. Be
sure that the clip is fully inserted, so that it does not fall out.
If not properly attached, it may come off with item being peeled
and come in contact with the peeler blade (arm), causing injury
or malfunction.

4) Push plate
● Remove the screw using the supplied 7 mm wrench.
● When performing replacement, it is recommended that replacement be performed with the ejector
removed. ( See page 16)

Inappropriate size may cause malfunction.

9. Cleaning and Maintenance
When inspecting or cleaning the unit, always switch the power
“Off” and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Failure to do this may result in injury.
Warning!
1) When using the unit be sure to carry out do the following on a daily basis.
1. Check for unusual noise.
2. Ensure that the unit is not abnormally hot.
2) Keep the unit clean.
● Rinse with water starting from the top of the main unit. Never spray the base. Wipe the unit with
a cloth that has been immersed in water and then wrung hard. Never use thinners or petro-
leum-based cleaning uids on the unit.

unavoidable gaps and cause electric shock, re, or malfunction.

● Regularly clean the xing prong, the peeler blade, the arm, the spring, the turntable and the ejec-
tor. Except for the turntable, each of the parts can be removed and washed. (Once or more each
day)
The xing prong(s) and peeler blade(s) are extremely sharp.
Take adequate precautions to avoid injury to the hands, etc.

3) Ejector
• You can remove the prong and immerse it for washing.
Caution!
● If neglected, there is a risk that removal will become impossi-
ble due to stickiness of the fruit juice.
● Incorrect installation may cause damage or malfunction.

When installing, fasten the knob fully by tightening
the knob while it is in contact with the stopper on both
shafts.

4) Inspect regularly
• The unit should be inspected regularly to ensure that screws and other items have not loosened,
and that no cracks or fractures are visible.
5) Regularly food-machine grease (at least once /day).
Caution!
● If neglected, it will cause malfunction and the life of the parts
etc. will become very short, so care should be taken.
● Use the supplied grease.
Using other grease may cause damage or malfunction.
● Do not apply excessively to the specified places. Failure to
observe the above precautions may result in damage to the
unit.
● Only apply to specifed places. Failure to observe the above
precautions may result in damage to the unit.

6) When storing the unit for long periods, clean the unit thoroughly and
store it in a place with low humidity.
Caution!
While storing the unit, take steps to prevent rodents, insects, or
other living organisms, from getting inside it, because this may
cause damage to the unit.

10. Fixing Prong
1) Types of xing prongs
● Prong lengths are classi ed as XS, S, M and L. The type of prong can be identi ed by the color of
the prong base.
● Prongs come in four different shapes.
● There are a total of twelve different blades. Each is designed for speci c varieties of fruits/vegeta-
bles, consistencies and sizes.
