Thank you for purchasing an AstralPool immersion detection system.
This swimming pool immersion detector complies with French standard NF P90-307/A1.
WARNINGS
This alarm system is not a replacement for common sense or individual responsibility.
Its purpose is not to be a replacement for vigilance by a parent or responsible adult, which
remains the essential factor in protecting children under five.
This alarm is a protective device which signals a danger (or danger risk). A responsible adult
must take quick action within 3 minutes after the alarm triggers. “Responsible adult” means
an adult person who is aware of the danger, who can swim, and who is capable of giving help
in the pool.
In no event can your retailer, the distributor or the manufacturer of the alarm system be held
responsible for any person or animal falling or drowning. In no event must the installation
of your alarm system reduce your vigilance or replace active monitoring of the swimming
pool and the area around it.
You must always check that the alarm can be heard from the residence/living quarters.
Depending on the layout of the residence/living quarters in relation to the swimming pool,
it may be necessary to move the safety, alarm and failure signals so they can be heard from
the dwelling/living quarters. This must be checked during installation. Should it be necessary
to supplement your immersion detector with a remote siren, fit in a Remota™ remote sound
alarm. CONTACT YOUR RETAILER FOR ADVICE.
Regularly check the water level in your pool, especially when the weather is very hot, or
rainy, or if it has been windy for several days. To ensure proper operation of your immersion
detector, the immersion level must imperatively be 22cm (+/– 3cm). If you do not follow
these instructions your immersion detector will not work properly.
Warning must be given that the pool and surrounding area are under electronic surveillance
permanently.
The magnets must be kept out of the reach of children.
The performance as defined in standard NF P90-307/A1 is not guaranteed beyond wind
levels greater than those specified in this standard.

2. Operating principle
How does Basic™ work?
The on-board technology of your immersion detector enables continuous monitoring of the pool.
In the event of a fall into the pool, your immersion detector sets off the siren in accordance with
the requirements of French standard NF P90-307/A1.
You must deactivate your immersion detector monitoring mode before having a swim. (Look up item 4.1)
After your swim, your immersion detector automatically resumes monitoring of the pool once it
has become still again. (Look up item 4.1)
The new Basic™ technology includes a continuous pool analysis system.

3.3. Choice of location
Your immersion detector must be positioned in the center of the greatest length of your
swimming pool, on a coping (position recommended for rectangular swimming pools). If your pool
does not correspond to the configurations shown below, ask your retailer for advice.
Ensure that the central unit is more than one meter away from the filtration
system (return fittings, waste plug, skimmer, vacuum fittings, etc.) or waterfall or
any other device that may disturb the pool at this place.
Your immersion detector has been designed and configured in compliance with
standard NF P90-307/A1, and can be used in pools with maximum dimensions of
10 x 5 meters. Your immersion detector must not be further than 7 meters from

To ensure optimum operation, the probe must be immersed 22 cm (± 3cm) deep.
If the water level has been deliberately lowered, suitable probe extenders are available
from your retailer.
The water level must be checked regularly, and restored if required to maintain
an immersion depth of 22 cm (± 3cm). The installation of a level controller is
recommended. Contact your retailer for advice.
If the probe is immersed too deep or nor deep enough (or even not at all), your immersion
detector will not be able to operate properly. Please make sure that the recommended
immersion depth is respected.
3.4. Temporary installation / Installation temporaire
For installation tests, we recommend that you do not first switch off the probe, but you lift up
the device (on a book, flat stone, brick, wooden board, etc.) to obtain an immersion depth of
22 cm (+ /-3 cm). You must ensure that the device remains stable during the fall tests.

3.5. Installation tests
Make sure that the pool is still and that your immersion detector is monitoring (green indicator light
flashing). If such is not the case, move the magnet over the swimmer symbol:
If in spite of this, the indicator light does not switch to green, this means that the pool is not still
enough. You must wait for your pool to be still before carrying out the tests.
You must wait for about ten minutes without handling the device in any way, and
with no disturbance in the pool, for your immersion detector to analyze its
environment and become stable (green indicator light). It is only after this time
that you will be able to perform the tests described below.
Prepare a 6 kg weight by tying together four 1.5 liter water bottles, as shown below:
To make it easier for you to recover the 6 kg
weight in the pool, we recommend that you tie a
rope about 2 meters long around the neck of one
of the bottles.

4. Using Basic™
The magnets must be kept out of the reach of children under five.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
• Certain rough weather conditions (strong winds, storms, etc.) and the use of certain
powerful cleaning equipment can cause untimely alarm triggering.
• Your alarm system will not operate if the water in the probe is frozen or the surface of the
pool is frozen. It is hard to know when the water is frozen in the tube. If in doubt, check that
your immersion detector is working properly.
• When cleaning the outside of your device, (waterline, etc.), do not use any high-pressure
cleaning apparatus, abrasive brush and/or other implements which might scratch or damage
your immersion detector.
• To ensure proper operation of your device, please keep the water pure and clean
(in particular, to avoid algae formation inside the probe).
• You are reminded that the French act No 2003-9 dated 3 January 2003 on swimming pool
safety requires that a device be installed permanently throughout the year. Your retailer or
AstralPool, or MG International cannot be held liable in the event of drowning after the removal
or complete stopping of your alarm system for whatever reason.
• Should you restart your immersion detector after a long period, perform the tests described
on item 3.7. In case of problem, contact your retailer immediately.
• The only authorized operation on the device once it is installed is changing the batteries.
• Regularly check that your fall detector is working properly by performing the monthly tests
mentioned in this guide (look up item 8), or have it checked by a professional.
• Some robot cleaners like diving robot are incompatible with immersion detection systems.
• The performance as defined in standard NF P90-307/A1 is not guaranteed beyond wind
levels greater than those specified in this standard.
• Any user who shuts off the system must be aware that surveillance by a person must take
over from the system.
• Action must be taken when the siren is heard.
• The greatest vigilance by the parent/responsible adult is necessary between the end of the
swim and reactivation of the alarm system.
• Switch off the swim jet at the end of the swim, to allow the reactivation of the alarm system.
