Eyepiece㸸
For observing the boundary line between light and shade 䢪refraction field䢫in the vision. On
observing the eyepiece, turn it to bring the cross hairs into focus. The boundary line cannot be
seen without sample on the prism.
Prism open-shut handle㸸
To open and shut the secondary prism. For opening, turn the handle frontwards and open the
secondary prism by raising the lever on the upper side of the secondary prism.
Main prism㸸
Apply a sample onto the upper surface of the main prism for measurement. Carefully handle the
main prism not to damage it because it is an important part to serve as the basis for
measurement of refractive index.
Secondary prism㸸
Open the secondary prism to apply a sample onto the main prism. The secondary prism is used
for lighting up liquid sample and its surface that contacts sample is frosted to create even light
dispersion.
Power cable connector㸸
To connect the power cable between the refractometer and the light source unit to supply power
from the latter to the former.
Signal cable connector㸸
To connect the signal cable between the refractometer and the light source unit.
Power switch㸸
Press this switch to turn on the refractometer and press it again to turn it off, however, the
refractometer is turned on/off when the light source unit is turned on.
Constant temperature water circulating nozzles㸸
For measuring sample at a constant temperature, these nozzles are used to circulate constant
temperature water around the prism. For connection of the circulating constant temperature bath,
refer to page 22, "䢪3䢫Connection of circulating constant temperature bath".
Near-infrared ray viewer mount㸸
When using the Near-infrared ray viewer, install the mounting adapter to this mount.
Desiccant case㸸
There is a desiccant inside the case. When the desiccant is moistened, the color of the
desiccant changes from green to pale green. If the color has changed, turn the cap of the case
counterclockwise to remove it and replace the desiccant with new one.
For replacement of the desiccant, refer to page 67, "(2) Replacement of desiccant."
Measurement knob㸸
Tu r n this knob to match the boundary line appearing in the refraction field of vision with the
intersection point of the cross hairs. As this knob is turned, the indication of the refractive index
appearing on the display panel continuously changes, and the correct refractive index of the
sample is indicated when the boundary line meets the intersection point of the cross hairs.
Rating label㸸
Ratings and serial number of the refractometer are shown on this label.
