Overload feature
The motor will immediately stop and start to auto-reverse for paper release. Slide the
power switch to reverse mode if needed and remove paper at a 45 degree angle.

OPERATION
Power On:
Green light – Power light will activate when switched to Auto mode.
Door Open:
Yellow light – Door is open and should be closed. Shredder will not operate
until light goes out.
Bin Full:
Yellow light – Shredder bin is full and should be emptied. Shredder will not
operate until bin is emptied.
Overheat:
Red light – Shredder has shred running time and overheating. If this happens,
switch the shredder off for 50 minutes or longer before resuming normal operation.

Warning: Failure to properly maintain your shredder will void the warranty.
Keep your shredder running with ultimate reliability with the following Ativa shredder supplies: Oil
the shredder blades every month with Ativa brand lubricant sheets or Office Depot brand oil.
To maintain with shredder oil: Simply apply a bead of lubricant across a sheet of paper and
feed into the shredder, or apply lubricant directly into the paper feed entrance.
To maintain with a shredder sheet: Simply insert the shredder sheet into the feed slot the
same way you would a piece of paper.
Lubricant Procedure:
To dust/clean the shredder:
nAlways UNPLUG the
shredder first.
oTake a soft dry cloth and
wipe the shredder body.
pDo not clean the shredder with spray
or liquid cleaners or water. Do not im-
merse the shredder in water.
oApply shredder oil across paper entry. Or insert
a shredder sheet into the feed slot.
nTurn off shredder. pTurn shredder in reverse
mode for 3-5 seconds.
tDo not spray or keep any aerosol products
in or around shredder.
tDO NOT USE CANNED AIR ON SHREDDER.

TROUBLESHOOTING
1) If Overheat icon is lit in red, turn shredder
off and let it cool down for 50 minutes.
Turn shredder on, check icon light again,
and restart shredding only when icon light
is not lit.
2) If Bin Full icon is lit in Yellow, empty bin.
3) If Door Open icon is lit in Yellow, re-close
door until you feel firm click and Door
Open icon is not lit.

Q: How to register my product?
There is no need to register your product. The product warranty requires that you keep your proof-
of-purchase (invoice, order confirmation) or receipt during the warranty period.
Q: What should I do to maintain my shredder?
Once a month, use shredder oil or a shredder sheet. Please see page 8. Proper maintenance helps to
prevent paper jams and prolong your shredder's life.
Q: Can my shredder handle paper clips and staples?
Yes it can. This machine can accept #1 or regular-sized paper clips. No jumbo paper clips or vinyl
coated (typically colored) paper clips. It can also accept standard size staples. It does not accept
heavy duty staples.
Q: Can I use a plastic bag or bin liner in my shredder?
Yes. Please follow the directions listed in the Maintenance section, on page 9.
Q: Who should I contact if I need a product support or warranty question/issue?

Q: Can I use aerosol lubricants or cooking/vegetable oil to lubricate my shredder?
Never use spray/aerosol lubricant or cooking/vegetable oil to lubricate shredder. Both of these
options cause shredded particles to stick together and they will remain stuck in the shredder blades.
Please only use shredder oil or shredder sheets. See the Maintenance section in this manual on
page 8 for more information. Spray/aerosol products may also cause a fire hazard when sprayed
on or near the shredder.

LIMITED PRODUCT WARRANTY
Office Depot warrants the cutting cylinders of the machine to be free from defects in material and
workmanship for seven (7) years of the machine beginning with the date of purchase by the original
consumer. Office Depot warrants all other parts of the machine to be free of defects in material and
workmanship for one (1) year from the date of purchase by the original consumer. If any part is
found to be defective during the warranty period, your sole and exclusive remedy will be repair or
replacement, at Office Depot’s option and expense, of the defective part EXCEPT for the postage; it is
the responsibility of the consumer to return the machine to Office Depot with a copy of the receipt
showing purchase within one year.
This warranty is valid for the original consumer only and is not transferable. This warranty does not
apply in cases of abuse, mishandling or unauthorized repair. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY, INCLUDING
THAT OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, IS HEREBY LIMITED IN
DURATION TO THE APPROPRIATE WARRANTY PERIOD SET FORTH ABOVE.
In no event shall Office Depot be liable for any consequential or incidental damages attributable to
this product.
Shredders require lubrication as directed by the User’s Manual. FAILURE TO LUBRICATE THESE
SYSTEMS WILL VOID THE WARRANTY. In addition, the machine has a warning sticker on the bottom
of the housing which detects if a consumer has opened the machine. IF THIS WARNING STICKER IS
REMOVED, THE WARRANTY IS VOID.

Return Instructions
1. Call 1-866-397-9075 for a Return Authorization Number (RA#).
2. Pack the product in its original carton and clearly mark the box with the RA#.
3. Enclose a copy of the receipt showing the original purchase date.
4. Enclose a note describing the difficulty you have had with product. Be sure to include your
complete name,address, phone number and Return Authorization Number (RA#).
5. Mail the above prepaid to the address provided by the manufacturer with the RA #.
