1 System Description
The system consists of instrument, calibration and test
tiles and software for data transfer and analysis.
– Connect instrument with PC via USB cable (1).
– After first connect instrument is automatically
turned on.
– The battery pack in the instrument is automatically
charged (2).
– If instrument has turned off, turn it on by pressing
the Operate button.
– Download and install “smart-chart” software (3).

2 Software Installation
1. Download zip-file from:
https://www.byk-instruments.com/spectro2profiler
2. Save the file into a new folder and extract the com-
plete archive.
3. Right mouse click on “install.exe” and select op-
tion “Run as administrator”.
4. Follow the setup instructions on the screen.
NOTE:
After installation "smart-lab" and "smart-process" can
be used for 30 days free trail. Thereafter, you need to
register the software package.

Go to Configuration > Measurement Parameters.
2D/3D Scales
Select scales for 2D reflectivity mea-
surement and 3D structure analysis.
Color System
Select color system.
Default is CIE L*a*b*.
Color Equation
Select color equation.
Default is ΔE*.
Color Indices
Select color indices.
Default is none.
Gloss
Turn gloss measurement on or off.
ΔGloss
Turn difference measurement for
gloss on or off.
Illumination
Select standard illuminant.
Default is D65.
Observer
Select standard observer.
Default is 10°.
Statistics
No. of readings to be taken per sam-
ple. Statistics are evaluated, if n > 1.
Always use autostandard
Search for nearest standard is al-
ways active.
Always continue last test series
No new test series is created; latest
series is opened automatically.
Measurement Screen
Select data to be displayed on
screen.

5 Difference Measurement
Compare a standard with a number of sample(s). You
can search for matching standards, create new stan-
dards and compare samples to standards. Results are au-
tomatically saved.
Click on icon Difference.

– Select existing standard from list (1) or add a new
standard.
– To add a new standard click on + symbol (2).
– Place instrument on standard.
– Click on Measure (3) or press Operate button.
– Standard is measured and automatically saved.
– Scroll down to see data table and statistics.
– When number of readings is reached (4), proceed
with Next (5).
– Place instrument on 1st sample and click on Mea-
sure or press Operate button.
– Sample is measured and automatically saved. Pro-
ceed with next sample (6).
– To end Difference mode select End test series
from context menu (7).

Take measurements without comparison to a standard.
Results are automatically saved.
Click on icon Absolute.
– Place instrument on 1st sample.
– Click on Measure or press Operate button.
– Sample is measured and automatically saved.
– Scroll down to see data table and statistics.
– When number of readings per sample is reached,
proceed with next sample.
– To end Absolute mode select End test series from
the context menu.

Compare a standard with one or more samples without
saving for a quick evaluation.
Click on icon Quick check.
– Place instrument on standard and measure it.
– Continue with Next, place instrument on 1st sample
and measure it.
– Scroll down to see data table and statistics.
– Continue with Next, and place instrument on 2nd
sample and measure it.
– To end Quick check mode select End test series
from the context menu.

1 Systembeschreibung
Das System besteht aus Messgerät, Kalibrier- und Test-
Standards und Software für Datentransfer und -analyse.
– Gerät über das USB-Kabel mit dem PC verbinden (1).
– Mit dem erstmaligen Verbinden schaltet sich das Ge-
rät automatisch ein.
– Die Li-Ionen-Batterie im Gerät wird automatisch auf-
geladen (2).
– Falls sich das Gerät abgeschalten hat, kann es mit
der Taste Operate eingeschaltet werden.
– Software "smart-chart" herunterladen und installie-
ren (3).

2 Software Installation
1. ZIP-Datei herunterladen von:
https://www.byk-instruments.com/spectro2profiler
2. Datei in einem neuen Ordner speichern und das ZIP-
Archiv komplett entpacken.
3. Mit der rechten Maus-Taste auf “install.exe” kli-
cken und die Option “Als Administrator ausfüh-
ren” wählen.
4. Den Installationsanweisungen auf dem Bildschirm
folgen.
HINWEIS:
Nach erfolgter Installation können "smart-lab" and
"smart-process" zum freien Test 30 Tage lang verwen-
det werden. Danach muss das Software-Paket registriert
werden.

Vergleich eines Standards mit einer Reihe von Proben.
Es kann nach den am besten passenden Standards ge-
sucht und es können neue Standards angelegt werden.
Die Ergebnisse werden automatisch gespeichert. Auf
das Ikon Differenz klicken.

– Bestehenden Standard in der Liste auswählen (1)
oder mit dem + Symbol (2) einen neuen Standard
anlegen.
– Messgerät auf dem Standard positionieren.
– Auf Messen (3) klicken oder die Taste Operate
drücken.
– Standard wird gemessen und automatisch gespei-
chert.
– Nach unten scrollen, um Mess- und Statistikdaten zu
sehen.
– Wenn die nötige Anzahl an Messungen (4) erreicht
ist, mit Nächste (5) fortfahren.
– Messgerät auf die erste Probe stellen und auf Mes-
sen klicken oder die Taste Operate drücken.
– Die Probe wird gemessen und automatisch gespei-
chert. Mit der nächsten Probe (6) fortfahren.
– Zum Beenden der Differenzmessung im Kontext-
menü (7) die Option Testserie beenden wählen.

– Die Probe wird gemessen und automatisch gespei-
chert.
– Nach unten scrollen, um Mess- und Statistikdaten zu
sehen.
– Wenn die nötige Anzahl an Messungen erreicht ist,
mit der nächsten Probe fortfahren.
– Zum Beenden der Absolutmessung im Kontextme-
nü (7) die Option Testserie beenden wählen.

1 Description du Système
Le système consiste un instrument, des étalons de réfé-
rence et de calibrage, ainsi qu'un logiciel pour le trans-
fert et l'analyse des données.
– Connecter l'instrument au PC avec le câble USB (1).
– Après connexion, l'instrument s'allumera automati-
quement.
– Le pack batterie dans l'instrument est automatique-
ment chargé (2).
– Si l'instrument s'éteint automatiquement, alors pres-
ser le bouton Operate.
– Télécharger et installer le logiciel “smart-chart” (3).

2 Installation du Logiciel
1. Télécharger le fichier zip depuis:
https://www.byk-instruments.com/spectro2profiler
2. Sauvegarder le fichier dans un nouveau répertoire
et faire l'extraction de l'archive.
3. Faire un clic droit de la souris sur le fichier “ins-
tall.exe” et sélectionner l'option “Exécuter en
tant qu'administrateur”.
4. Suivre les instructions d'installation à l'écran.
NOTE:
Après l'installation "smart-lab" et "smart-process"
peuvent être utilisés pendant 30 jours en essai. Après
cette période, vous devez activer la licence.
