2.1 What to wear
We recommend that you wear a thong underwear which
leaves your buttocks exposed, as the electrodes need
to be in full contact with your skin to deliver the INNOVO
treatment programs successfully
(Fig. 6). Alternatively, you can also use INNOVO without
underwear.
It is advised that you empty your bladder before starting a
treatment session.
2.2: Skin preparation
Make sure your skin is clean and free from oils, lotions,
moisturizers etc as these may prevent the Shorts from
functioning correctly.

Before you turn the controller on, get into the position
that is most comfortable for you. You should remain in
position until your treatment session is finished.
Position A
To optimize the results from a treatment session, it is
highly recommended that you remain standing with
your feet flat on the floor, shoulder width apart. You
should tilt slightly forward and stand near a surface to
lean on if required (Fig. 13).
If standing, you may move a little during the treatment
to help you remain comfortable, but you should
avoid moving too much as this may interfere with the
effectiveness of the treatment. However, if you wish
to move to a different location, you should pause the
session, move to the new location and then resume
the session.
Position C
The crook lying position can also be carried out with
your back slightly raised (Fig. 15). Ensure the legs are
bent at the knee and that your feet are flat.
Fig. 13

STEP 4: Get Into The Correct Position For You
Position B
Where standing for 30 minutes is difficult, you can
carry out the treatment session in the crook lying
position, which is lying on your back with your legs
bent at the knee, shoulder-width apart and with your
feet flat (Fig. 14). To help support your back while
crook lying, you can relax your quad muscles by just
letting the weight of your thighs sink gently outwards
into your hip sockets. This will help you to maintain a
small anterior tilt of your pelvis, which has the effect
of slightly arching your lower back.

5.1 Turning On The Controller
and Starting A Session
1. Turn on your INNOVO controller by pressing the On/Off
button ( ).
2. P1 will be displayed to indicate that the program has
been loaded correctly (Fig. 16).
3. Start the treatment session by pressing the Increase
Intensity button ( ). You will see the intensity
indicator rise on screen (Fig. 17). The Intensity
buttons increase and decrease the intensity in single
increments and the range goes from 0-120. If you keep
the Intensity button pressed it will increase/decrease
the stimulation continuously until released.
4. Once you begin to increase the intensity level the
treatment timer starts to count down from 30 minutes
(Fig. 18).

• As you increase the intensity on the controller you will start to feel your pelvic floor contracting. With an
effective pelvic floor contraction you will feel a sensation of “squeezing”, “tightening” and or “lifting up”
between your legs.
The sensation changes as you increase the intensity:
1. Low intensity - gentle tingling;
2. Moderate intensity - contraction of the buttocks;
3. Therapeutic intensity - contraction of the pelvic floor.
It is important to experience a pelvic floor contraction to benefit from the therapy, and you should aim
to use INNOVO at the strongest intensity you can comfortably tolerate.
However, you should never exceed your comfort level. Effective stimulation should be strong but never
uncomfortable. You should try to minimize movement during the therapy session.

5.2 SELECTING INTENSITY LEVELS
1. You should increase the level of intensity
gradually during your first treatment session.
This gives you time to become accustomed
to the sensation. You may start to feel your
pelvic floor lift (Fig. 19) at an intensity level of
approximately 30-40.
2. With time (usually within 1 week), you should
find that you are better able to tolerate
higher intensities and it is recommended
that you reach the minimum target intensity
level for your size for maximum benefit as
outlined in the table below.

STEP 5: USING INNOVO®
5.1 TURNING ON THE CONTROLLER AND STARTING A SESSION
1. Turn on your INNOVO®controller by pressing the On/Off button ( ).
2. P1 will be displayed to indicate that the program has been loaded correctly.
3. Start the treatment session by pressing the Increase Intensity button ( ). You
will see the intensity indicator rise on screen (Fig. 15). The Intensity buttons increase
and decrease the intensity in single increments and the range goes from 0-70.
If you keep the Intensity button pressed it will increase/decrease continuously.
4. Once you begin to increase the intensity level the treatment timer starts to count
down from 30 minutes (Fig. 16).
5.2 INTENSITY LEVELS AND WHAT TO EXPECT
DURING A STRESS TREATMENT SESSION
1. You should increase the level of intensity gradually during
your first treatment session. This gives you time to become
accustomed to the sensation. At first you will begin to feel
the stimulation in the buttock area and as you continue to
increase the intensity, this stimulation will move forward
between the legs, giving you a ‘lifting’ sensation throughout
the pelvic floor (Fig. 17). You may achieve this pelvic floor lift
at an intensity level of approximately 30-40.
2. With time (usually within 1 week), you should find that you are better able to tolerate
higher intensities and are well on your way to attaining the recommended intensity
level. Once you can feel a strong stimulation throughout the full pelvic floor you have
reached a sufficient level. However, you should never exceed your comfort level.
Effective stimulation should be strong but never uncomfortable. You should try to
minimize movement during the therapy session
Important:
You will not feel stimulation directly under the electrodes on the front or sides of your
legs.
3. If you wish, you can now clip the neck strap onto the controller and hang it around
your neck (Fig. 18). For more information refer to page 17.

5.3 How To Pause A Treatment Session
It is recommended to pause the stimulation if you are
changing body position during a treatment session.
If you wish to pause a treatment session, simply press the
On/Off button ( ) briefly. The stimulation will stop and the
display will indicate that the controller is paused
(Fig. 21 A&B).
To resume the session, briefly press the On/Off button
again. The display will return to the timer countdown and
the stimulation will begin again. However, if the session is
paused for 2 minutes or more, the intensity will be halved
when the session is resumed. This safety feature ensures
that stimulation does not feel uncomfortable when you
resume treatment.
You may switch off your controller at any time during a
treatment session by pressing the On/Off button for ( )
two seconds. The controller will power off and your session
will terminate.
