Pairing Cell Phone to Bluetooth System
Depending on your cell phone you can pa ir your phone using Secure Simple Pairing or
standard pairing .
Secure Simple Pairing (SSP)
• Vehicle must be stationary with ignition on . Bluetooth system will be visible for 5 min utes.
• Press the ~ button on the MMI.
• Select the Search for new cell phone menu item an d confirm.
• Select your Bluetooth cell phone in the display an d confirm.
• Select the Handsfree menu item and confirm your se lect ion.
• Select Yes to confirm the 6 digit PIN ma tching the cell phone display.
• Select PAIRon the phone to comple t e pairing .
Standard pairing
• Follow steps 1-5 from above .
• Select Yes to confirm the 4-digit PIN.
• Enter the same 4-digit PIN into your cell phone .
• Select PAIRon the phone to comple te pairi ng.
Various phones requi red tha t a confi rmation be accepte d for automa t ic future connect ions
between t he phone and MMI system as well as acknowledging the synchroniza ti on of the
address book between the phone and MMI.

Advanced key
Opening and closing the vehicle
With the advanced key,you can lock and
unlock your vehicle without using the remote
control key.Youonly need to carry the remote
control keywith you.
Unlocking the vehicle: Grasp one of the door
handles or the handle recess on the luggage
compartment lid.
Locking the vehicle: Place the selector lever
in the P position. Touch the sensor Oon one
of the door handles.
Closing the luggage com[ artrent lid
automatically: Press the
~
button in
the open luggage compartment lid.

When you lock your vehicle from the outside, do
not leave anyone -especially children -inside the
vehicle. Remember, when you lock the vehicle
from the outside the windows cannot be opened
from the inside.

Always ensure that no one is within range of the
rearlid when it is moving, in particular close to
the hinges -fingers or hands can be pinched.
/!:;,.WARNING
When you leave the vehicle, always remove
the ignition key and take it with you. Thiswill
prevent passengers (children, for example) from
accidentally being locked in the vehicle should
they accidentally press the power locking switch
in the front doors.
Starting the engine
Switching the ignition on and off:
Insert the key into the ignition lock.
Donot depress the brake pedal.
Press on the key.
The keycan only be removed when
the ignition is switched off. ___

Stopping the engine when the vehicle
is standing: Movethe selector lever into
P or N. Briefly press on the key.
Advanced key: Youcan switch on the
ignition and start/stop the engine using the
STARTENGINESTOPbutton without having
the key inserted in the ignition lock.

Releasing the selector lever lock
and engaging a gear: Switch the
ignition on, press the brake pedal
and press the lock button on the
selector lever. Place the selector
lever in the D/S posit ion to drive
forward. When switching from Dto Sor from S to D,
you must move the selector lever back.
tiptronic: To shift manually, move the selector
lever to the right out of the D/S position.
The driver information system displays the gears.
Shifting up/ down:
Press the selector lever forward/back.

The hybrid drive automati cally combines the driving power of an internal
combustion engine and an electr ic motor for fuel efficient driving.

Placing a phone call
Dialing a phone number from a call list:
• Press the ~ button .
• Turn the control knob to select Dialed
numbers, Missed calls or Receivedcalls
and press to confirm. The phone numbers
from the selected list appear in the MMI
display .
• Turn the control knob to select the
desired number and press to confirm
or press the Dial control butt on.
Accessingdirectory contacts:
• Press the ~ button.
• Turn the control knob to select
Directory and press to confirm.
• Turn the control knob to select the
desired contact and press to confirm .
• Turn the control knob to select the
desired number and press to confirm
or press the Call contro l button .
Setting the clock
Select in the MMI:

Time control button > Time source >
manual or GPS.
Manual: All menu items displayed are set
manually.
GPS:Time and date are set by GPS depend -
ing on the manually selected Time zone.
Therefore, when traveling into another
time zone you must manually update
the time zone in order for the time clock
to update to t he correct time.

Voice recognition system
Youcan operate many MMI functions comfortably using voice commands .
Requirement: Switch the ignition and MIMI on, do not use th e A/Csystem,
do not have any phone calls in progress, deactivate the parking system.
Switching the system on: Press the ~ button on the multifunction steering whee l briefly.
Sayyour comman d (refer to the examples) after the <Beep>.
The system gives visual and audio confirmation of your input .
Switching the system off: Press and hold the ~ button or say <Cancel>.
Improve recognition function : Select the ~ button >Setup MMI control button >Voice recognition > Individual Speech Training .
Sample commands
Accessinga directory contact: Say <Call (XY)>,for example, <Call "Max Mustermann">.
Displaying call lists: Say <Telephone> and then <Received calls>, <Dialed numbers> or <Missed calls>.
Direct "One shot" destination entry: Say <Enter address> and then say the House Number, Stree t, Cityand State when prompted .
