2.0 Application
2.1 Each unit has a single digital audio input, analog cabin briefer audio input,
discrete key inputs, 4 full range speaker outputs, PA audio output, RS-485
data bus interface, and power/ground inputs.
2.2 Function control is accomplished via the RS-485 data bus interface to the
Master Control Unit switch located in the aircraft cabin.
2.3 Three (3) selectable ID inputs providing the capability to have eight (8)
units per installation.
2.4 The module is designed to interface with typical cockpit audio systems as
a stand-alone Passenger Address Amplifier, or to be integrated with Cabin
Management Systems as part of an integrated cabin entertainment
system.
2.4.1 Audio Input (Digital)—Typical interfaces include various types of
audio source equipment. This unit is capable of interfacing and
accepting input from all Audio International and standard COTS
(Commercial-Off-The-Shelf) audio source equipment using the
AES-3 digital audio standard.
2.4.2 Audio Input (Analog)—The module is designed to interface with
typical analog cockpit audio systems as a stand-alone Passenger
Address Amplifier.
2.4.3 Discrete Interface(s)—Typical interfaces include existing aircraft
and COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf) control and/or indication
devices and/or systems. This unit is capable of interfacing,
accepting, and/or providing input to and/or from all such devices
and/or systems incorporating similar interfaces for communication,
control, and/or status indication.
