General Tips
Depending on the size and weight of your loudspeaker, it is a good idea for two people to unpack it. Take
out the accessory pack and follow the instrucons in the chapter “Unpacking, Assembly and Set-up“ to
ensure the safe and correct installaon of your loudspeaker.
Loudspeakers should reach a temperature that is approximately equivalent to room temperature before
you connect them to the HiFi system and/or operate them. This instrucon predominately refers to the
winter months in case the loudspeakers were previously stored in a cold room.
Maintenance
Our loudspeakers are coated in high-quality veneers or high-gloss lacquers. You should avoid using
chemical cleaning agents because these can aack the loudspeaker surfaces and make them go ma.
As a rule, a ne, so and damp cloth is all that you need to clean the surfaces. If a cleaning agent is
required, use this to dampen the cloth and do not directly apply it to the surface. It is best if you test the
suitability of the cleaning agent on a less visible part of the cabinet. The drivers do not normally need to
be cleaned. Dust parcles fall o quickly when the loudspeakers are operated. You can, however, use a
so brush to lightly brush over the surfaces of the drivers . When doing so, make sure you do not put any
pressure on it. Please never use any cleaning agents on the drivers. Do not expose the loudspeakers to
direct sunlight. Anodised surfaces are sensive to acids and alkalis and to ultraviolet light and may fade.
The drivers in this range of AUDIO PHYSIC loudspeakers use a unique mounng technique. Rather than
directly mounng the drivers onto the cabinet of the loudspeaker, the drill holes of the OREA contain
special neoprene plugs. These neoprene plugs ghten in the mounng hole when the screws are ed,
creang a permanently elasc connecon between the driver and the cabinet that reduces resonance.
You do not need to ghten these screws. Re-ghtening the screws may damage the plugs and have a
negave eect on the sound.
Burning in the Loudspeakers
The loudspeaker rst reach its full sound potenal aer a specic burn-in period. We burn in the drivers
of the OREA at our factory prior to assembly, meaning that they normally only need a burn-in period of
a few hours at a normal room volume and with music that has a range of frequencies that is as wide as
possible, for example orchestral pieces. Recordings containing ’white or pink noise’ such as those
available on many so-called Test CDs are also ideal. For safety reasons, these pieces should never be
played at high volumes.
Stray Magnec Fields
The magnec eld created by the individual driver magnets may to some extent have an eect outside
of the loudspeaker. This stray magnec eld may interfere with other devices, parcularly televisions
and monitors with cathode ray tubes (not LCD or plasma televisions), for example by causing changes in
colour in the picture. We recommend that you place the loudspeaker approximately half a metre away
from such devices (and also from magnet tapes, video cassees, credit cards with magnec stripes, etc.).
Where possible, please retain the loudspeaker packaging. You can then securely transport your
loudspeaker if you move house.

Unpacking, Assembly and Set-up
1. Place the box on the oor and carefully open the packaging on the long side where it has been
taped up, preferably using a pocket knife or kitchen knife.
2. Remove the accessory pack from the box.
3. Carefully remove the loudspeaker from the box. It is ideal if two people carry out this step.
Make sure that you do not touch the drivers when removing and handling the loudspeaker
as this may cause irreparable damage to the drivers.
4. Now remove the foam cover from the top and carefully pull down the foil.
5. Carefully stand the loudspeaker upside down on a so surface so that you can easily aach the
felt pads that come with the loudspeaker to its base.
6. Remove the protecve foil from the felt pads and sck them in the corners of the loudspeaker
base, at a distance of approximately ve cenmetres away from the edges.
7. Now turn the loudspeaker the right way up and place it in its intended posion. When in posion,
the loudspeaker should not wobble at all and should stand level and upright. The enclosed spirit
level will help you to nely adjust the loudspeaker (it is level when the bubble remains in the
inner circle).
8. The back of the loudspeaker should be a good hand‘s width away from the back wall so that you
do not bend the connected cables. Placing the loudspeaker even closer to a wall may also be
disadvantageous in terms of sound.
9. When used as a centre speaker, the OREA should be posioned as centrally as possible between
the main loudspeakers. It should denitely be placed directly under your atscreen television or
screen. For an opmal and homogenous sound reproducon, please programme the distances
between the individual loudspeakers and the listening posion as exactly as possible in the setup
menu of your surround receiver. This is the only way of achieving sound reproducon with precise
phases.
10. When used in stereo operaon, the OREA can be placed close to the wall without any problems.
If you increase the distance between the loudspeaker and the back wall, the sound will tend to
become ghter, but also leaner. Two OREA loudspeakers can also be placed in a low posion that
is slightly below the ear height in a seated listening posion when used in stereo operaon. The
radiaon characteriscs of the OREA model are opmised to suit this posion.
A spatially correct voice
reproduction is only guaranteed
when the OREA, used as a centre
speaker, is placed in a central
position below the screen or the
television set.

Connecng the Loudspeaker
1. Please switch o all equipment in your Hi system before you begin to connect your loudspeaker.
2. Aach the loudspeaker cable to the connectors on the loudspeaker. When doing so, please make
sure that you have the right polarity. As a rule, loudspeaker cables are accordingly labelled,
either by a permanent marking on one of the two conductors of the cable by “+“ and “-“
markings on the cable ends.
3. Now connect the cable to your receiver and make sure that you have the right polarity here.
4. The OREA`s connectors accept both spades and banana plugs. Loose cable strands oxidise easily
and are not suitable for a permanently high-quality listening experience.
“Bi Wiring“ Operaon
If your OREA is ed with a bi-wiring terminal and you would like to use this opon, please
connect the loudspeaker cable from the amplier to the upper two connectors on the loudspeaker in
order to control its midrange area and tweeter system and a further cable to the connectors underneath
in order to control the woofer system. Please remove and retain the respecve bi-wire bridges on the
loudspeaker terminal before connecng the cables.
Our Tip for Even More Precise Details
If you want to increase the sound quality even more in terms of precision and bass response,
try out our high-quality VC feet (for example VCF II Component in the image on the
right) on your loudspeakers. The “Vibraon Control“ feet are ideal for sensive
ooring and also reduce the transmission of vibraons between the loudspeaker
and the surface on which it is placed. This results in an audible improvement
to the level of detail and realisc sound reproducon. For more informaon and
advice, please contact your dealer.
Top-quality parts down to the nest detail:
The OREA is tted with high-quality connectors
from the “nextgen” range made by the specialist
manufacturer WBT.
The connectors are additionally mechanically
decoupled from the actual terminal by a vibration
damper made of modern functional materials.
This is what we call “no loss of ne detail”.

Modes of Operaon and Possible Combinaons
The OREA as a Centre Speaker in a 5.1 Conguraon
When used as a high-quality centre speaker in a surround combinaon, the OREA should be posioned
below the image centre of the screen or television set. In this posion, there are also no problems if the
OREA is placed slightly under the ear height in a seated posion because the loudspeaker’s radiaon
characteriscs are opmised to suit this listening posion.
The OREA in Other 5.0 and 5.1 Conguraons for Smaller Rooms
When it comes to choosing main loudspeakers, oor-standing loudspeakers are somemes out of the
queson. It is oen the case that the amount of space at the sides of the room is insucient for opmally
posioning the loudspeakers or that the furniture in the room requires other soluons. In such cases,
three OREA loudspeakers may well be the perfect soluon. They could, for example, be combined with
the STEP 25, the SKY HIGH or our oor-standing models for the rear sound channels. The loudspeakers
are congured in terms of tonality, acng in concert with each other and meaning that the sound
produced is always consistent. In larger rooms or for the ulmate kick when it comes to the deep bass
region, we recommend that you combine the OREA with our subwoofer RHEA II.
Thanks to its high performance and the fact that the centre speaker is responsible for around 70% of the
sound reproducon in the case of classic lms and concerts, the OREA can be easily combined with smaller
main loudspeakers. This is a parcularly good opon for smaller rooms and cases in which the system will
be predominantly or solely used for surround sound. In combinaon with the STEP 25, for example, this
results in a full high-end surround system.

The OREA in a Virtual Surround System
The algorithms for the reproducon of lms or music in virtual surround sound are increasingly improving
and have already reached such a high level that it may well make more sense to choose an ulmate 3.0 or
3.1 conguraon than a 5.1 set. This is parcularly the case when rear speakers cannot be placed in an
opmal posion and cannot be harmoniously integrated into the surround system.
If you want an enthralling lm experience despite such circumstances and place high value on stereo
reproducon without compromise, then three OREAs, according to your needs and with or without a
subwoofer, are the ideal choice for you.
The OREA in Stereo Operaon
The OREA, which was developed based on the VIRGO 25, is a complete high-quality loudspeaker that is
able to reproduce low frequencies without limitaons or loss of sound details. The OREA also stands out
due to its extremely homogenous radiaon characteriscs. If you use a large screen and/or your furniture
enables it, you can also use two OREA loudspeakers as a stereo system. The loudspeakers can then be
placed on a lowboard or on loudspeaker feet. The loudspeaker’s radiaon characteriscs are designed in
such a way that the lobe-shaped sound beam is directed slightly upwards. It is therefore unproblemac
if the OREA is posioned slightly below the ear height in a seated posion.
