Topreventpersonalinjuryordamagetovehiclesand/orthe
braketool,readthisinstructionmanualfirstandobservethe
followingsafetyprecautionsataminimumwhenever workingon
a vehicle:
lAlwaysperformautomotivetestinginasafeenvironment.
lWearsafetyeyeprotectionthatmeetsANSIstandards.
lKeepclothing, hair, hands, tools, testequipment, etc. awayfrom
all movingorhotengineparts.
lOperatethevehicleinawellventilatedworkarea:Exhaustgases
arepoisonous.
lPutblocksinfrontofthedrivewheelsandneverleavethevehicle
unattendedwhilerunningtests.
lUseextremecautionwhenworkingaroundtheignitioncoil,
distributorcap,ignitionwiresandsparkplugs. Thesecomponents
createhazardousvoltageswhentheengineisrunning.
lKeepafireextinguishersuitableforgasoline/chemical/ electrical
firesnearby.
lDon tconnectordisconnectany testequipmentwhiletheignition
isonortheengineisrunning.
lKeepthebraketooldry,clean,andfree fromoil/waterorgrease.
Useamilddetergentonacleanclothtocleantheoutsideofthe
braketool,whennecessary.

2. LocationofDataLinkConnector (DLC)
TheDLC(DataLinkConnectororDiagnosticLinkConnector) isthe
standardized16-cavityconnectorwherediagnosticbraketools
interface withthevehicle'son-boardcomputer.TheDLCisusually
located 12 inchesfromthecenteroftheinstrumentpanel(dash), under
oraround thedriver ssideformostvehicles.IfDataLink Connectoris
notlocatedunderdashboard,alabelshouldbetheretellinglocation.
ForsomeAsianandEuropeanvehicles, theDLCislocatedbehindthe
ashtray and theashtraymustberemoved to access theconnector.If the
DLCcannotbefound,refertothevehicle sservice manualforthe
location.

Thebraketoolallowsyou tomakethefollowingadjustmentsand
settings:
1) Language: Selectsdesiredlanguage.Thedevice supportEnglish
bydefault.
2) Contrast: AdjuststhecontrastoftheLCDdisplay.
3) ToolInformation: Providesimportantinformationaboutthe
device,suchasS/N,softwareversion,hardwareversionand
troublecodelibraryversion.
•TheSettingsoftheunit will remainuntil changetotheexisting
settingsismade.
Toenterthesetup menu
Fromhomescreen,press Nbuttontoenter SystemSetup menu.
Followtheinstructionstomakeadjustmentsandsettingsasdescribed
inthefollowing setupoptions.

4. Diagnostics
TheMaxiESTTM EST201 isa multifunctionsolutionspecially
designedto helptechniciansreplace brakepadsmoresafely and
efficiently. Itisableto read/clearEPB/SBCtroublecodes,
deactivate/activateSBC/EPBsystem, changebrakefluid/bleedbrake
system, inspectbrakeairand setthickness ofrearbrakecalipers
after changing brakediscs&pads.
1) Turntheignition off.
2) Releasetheparkbrakeandmakesurethecarisproperlyblocked.
3) Locatethevehicle s16-pinDataLink Connector(DLC).
4) PlugintotheOBDII cabletothevehicle sDLC.
5) Turntheignition on.

EPBtroublecodesthatareequippedwithEPBsystem. Itcanalso
enter thickness ofrearbrakecalipersafter changing brakediscs&
padsonAudiA8 cars.
1) Use UP/DOWN buttontoselect EPB-AudiA8 or EPB-Other
VAG from DiagnosticMenu andpress Ybutton toconfirm.
