1.0 INTRODUCTION
Thanks for purchasing this product from the AV Toolbox Division of TV One. The
AVT-6071 Multi-Format Switcher allows selection of one of 10 input signals for
display on an HDMI monitor or projection system. The switcher’s output provides
a fully compliant V1.3 HDMI output from any HDMI, Component Video, Com-
posite Video, S-Video or PC Video input signal. PC Video inputs from VGA
through SXGA are supported as are Video signals from 480i (SDTV) through
1080p HDTV (including 12 bit deep color when operating at 1080p). The
Component only supports 1080i. The switcher will pass embedded audio in the
HDMI data-streams as well as switch discrete stereo audio associated with
analog video inputs. 150ms of audio delay is available to correct analog input lip
sync problems. This AVT-6071 Multi-Format Switcher is but one of our complete
range of video and audio products.

1.3 Getting the Best Results
There are many factors affecting the quality of results when switching HDMI type
signals. Some basic precautions will ensure the best possible performance from
your AVT-6071 Multi-Format Switcher.
Output display device – The quality of the output signal will depend
largely upon the type and quality of the HDMI display device used.
For instance, some video projectors just look better than others.
Distance between the switcher, the sources and the display – This
plays a major role in the final result. Long distances are possible, but
special measures should be taken in order to avoid cable losses.
These include using high quality cables. Line amplifiers may also be
necessary for the longest runs.
Input/Output connection cables – Low quality cables are susceptible
to interference. They degrade signal quality due to poor matching and
can cause elevated noise levels. Cables should be of the best quality.
Interference from nearby electrical devices – These can have an
adverse effect on signal quality. For example, an older computer
monitor often emits very high electromagnetic fields that can interfere
with the performance of video equipment in its proximity.

4.0 CONNECTING THE HARDWARE
Connect the Video Sources to the inputs of the AVT-6071 switcher, connect its
output to an HDMI Compliant monitorand lastly connect the AC to DC Power
Adapter. The drawings below show the locations of the inputs, output, Front
Panel Controls, Power Switch and Power Connector.
4.1 Connecting the Inputs to the AVT-6071
Connect Composite Video, S-Video, Component Video, PC Video or HDMI Video
to the appropriate inputs. DVI Video input is also possible with the appropriate
DVI to HDMI adapter. Make certain that the cables aresecurely plugged into the
source device as well as the AVT-6071. Always use a high quality cable, as short
a length as possible, for best results. Note that you can use either Composite
Video or S-Video on each of the two dual purpose CV/SV inputs but you cannot
use both at the same time on a single input.

6
4.2 Connecting the AVT-6071 to a Display
Using a high quality HDMI cable, connect the output of the AVT-6071 to an HDMI
compliant display device. Use the shortest cable run possible.
4.3 Connecting Power to the AVT-6071
The AVT-6071 is shipped with a Power Adapter to convert 100~240VAC@50-
60Hz to 5VDC. Connect the DC Output Cable from the Power Adapter to the
back of the unit. Next, plug the Power Adapter into an active AC Receptacle.
You will be able to turn on the AVT-6071 via either the front panel power switch,
the power switch on the remote control or via RS-232 commands.
5.0 OPERATING THE AVT-6071
The AVT-6071 Multi-Format Switcher can be operated via the front panel
controls, Remote Infra-red control or via RS-232 commands. The Front Panel
controls are clearly labeled and allow Selection of Power On/Off, Input Selection,
Audio Delay On/Off (analog inputs only) and 480i to 480p or 576i to 576p De-
Interlacing*. LED displays indicate which input is active and there is an indicator
LED that shows when the unit is receiving power.
5.1 Operation of the AVT-6071 via Remote Control
* Some HDMI monitors and projectors will not display 480 or 576 interlaced
signals. If you encounter this problem, pressing the 480i–480p / 576i-576p button
will convert these signals from interlaced to progressive scan which the display
will accept. Note that this feature is not available using RS-232 Control Protocols.
Operation of the AVT-6071 is possible via an included
Infrared Remote Control. The unit can be turned on
and off, the inputs selected, audio delay invoked and
De-Interlacing activated simply by pressing the
appropriate button on the remote. For the signal inputs,
if there are more than one input selection possible for a
particular type of signal, input one (1) is on the left and
input 2 or 3 are positioned to the right of input 1.
Note: When you unpack the AVT-6071, you may have
to remove an insulator from the battery compartment of
the remote in order for the remote to receive power.
The battery compartment slides out from the bottom of
the unit.

6.0 TROUBLESHOOTING
In the event of problems, first make certain that the input and output cables are of
the highest possible quality and short as possible. Next, make certain that the
switcher is receiving power and try pressing the De-Interlace Button.
If these steps fail to clear the problem, remember that HDMI devices
communicate with one another so the source devices and destination device
must be fully HDMI capable. In addition, HDCP encryption requires additional
processing which also is dependent on the equipment you have connected to the
sources and destination device. If you experience problems using the AVT-6071
Multi-Format Switcher, you should attempt to determine what is wrong by
attaching each of the source devices – one at a time – directly to the destination
device using the same cables you are using with the expanded system if
possible. This is a way of determining if the problem is due to bad cables or a
problem with the other devices. If you are unable to obtain a signal using this
simplified path, suspect the cables, the source device(s) or the destination
device.
After trying the above suggestions should the problem still persist, contact your
dealer for additional suggestions before contacting TV One. Should the dealer’s
technical personnel be unable to assist you, contact TV One via our support
website: http://tvone.crmdesk.com. Create a technical support request on the
site and our support team will respond within a short period of time.
