1. Foreword
Avant Tecno Oy would like to thank you for your purchase of this AVANT attachment. It has been designed
and manufactured on the basis of years of product development and experience. By familiarising yourself
with this manual and following the instructions, you ascertain your safety and ensure the reliable operation
and long service life of the equipment. Read the instructions carefully before starting to use the equipment or
performing maintenance.
With these instructions, even an inexperienced user can use the attachment and loader safely. The manual
also includes important instructions for experienced AVANT operators. Ensure that all persons using the
equipment have received proper guidance and familiarised themselves with the manual and all safety
instructions before using the equipment. Keep this manual at hand throughout the service life of the
equipment. If the manual is lost, you can request a new one from the retailer or manufacturer. If you sell or
transfer the equipment, be sure to hand over this manual to the new owner.
2. Designed purpose of use
AVANT tipping trailers are designed for transporting especially loose materials, such as soil, snow or sand.
When using the two available trailer models, their load capacities, safety instructions and recommendations
must be observed. Both trailer models are equipped with hydraulic dumping, which makes it possible to
empty the trailer from the driver’s seat. The hydraulic feature requires either single or double-acting hydraulic
rear outlet from the loader, according to the trailer model.
The sides and rear hatch can be opened, and they can be removed if necessessary. When removed, the
base of the trailer bed is completely flat. For transporting lighter materials, an extra side kit can be fitted to
increase the volume of the smaller trailer quickly and easily. The larger trailer model has side extensions as
standard. Extending the sides with other types of side extensions is prohibited.
Trailers are intended to be fitted only to Avant loaders or to other sufficiently robust
garden tractors or all terrain vehicles. The trailers mus not be coupled to cars or
tractors, and they are not suitable for road use. Find out about the applicable
regulations and restrictions before using the trailer on any road area.
The trailers are designed to require as little maintenance as possible. Regular maintenance tasks can be
performed by the operator. Repairing the hydraulic systems or the structures must be left for professionals.
Read the maintenance and servicing instructions in this manual. Please contact your AVANT retailer if you
have additional questions about the operation or maintenance of the equipment or if you require spare parts
or maintenance services.
3. Safety instructions for trailers
Please bear in mind that safety is the result of several factors. The loader-attachment combination is highly
powerful, and improper or careless use may cause serious personal injury or property damage. Due to this,
you should carefully familiarise yourself with the manuals of both the loader and the attachment before
starting operation. Do not use the attachment if you have not familiarised yourself with its operation and the
related hazards.
The purpose of these instructions is to help you to:
•use the equipment in a safe and efficient manner
•monitor and prevent any hazardous situations
•keep the equipment intact and ensure a long service life
•A trailer that becomes separated from the loader causes hazards of crushing and
impact. Make sure that the trailer coupling is securely locked.

•A trailer may tip over, especially when its bed has been lifted. Never leave the driver’s
seat when the trailer is tipped. If the material does not slide from the trailer when
tipping, lower the bed before trying to assist to empty the trailer with other means. Do
not shake or twitch the trailer when it is tipped.
•Keeping the trailer lifted causes the risks of loss of stability and crushing in between the
bed and frame of the trailer. Keep the bed lowered to its lowest position and utilize the
tipping function only at the final emptying spot. Driving while the bed is lifted is
prohibited except when moving short distances while emptying the trailer. The trailer
bed must not be left to lifted position.
•A load that is too heavy for the operating conditions hinders the controllability of the
loader. The maximum stated capacity can not be regarded as the maximum safe load.
The load must be adapted to the operating conditions and also with the loader model in
use. The warranty does not cover for damages caused by overload.
•Uneven load may cause loss of stability or hinder the controllability of the loader. Load
the trailer as evenly as possible both laterally and longitudinally. Make sure that enough
load is applied on the drawbar and the trailer hitch of the loader; the drawbar load must
never be negative.
•Moving of the load on trailer may affect the balance of the trailer and the controllability
of the loader. Prevent the load on the trailer from moving.
•The loader and the trailer may start to move when parked on a slope or during loading.
Always park the trailer on an even platform and make sure that the trailer is supported
adequately, regardless of being hitched to the loader or standing independently.
•Pay attention to the contours of the terrain and other hazards, such as branches and
trees reaching the driver's area. Pay attention to the surroundings and any other
persons and machines moving in the vicinity.
•Familiarise yourself with the loader controls in a safe area. Pay particular attention to
the safe stopping of the attachment and the machine.
•Shut down the loader before any maintenance or adjustments.
•Do not modify the structure of the trailer in a manner that would affect its safety.
•Also read the safety instructions for the loader in the loader manual.
Learning how to control the trailer and how to reverse with the combination may
require separate practise. Familiarise yourself with the controls in an area that is free
of obstacles and safe.
Note that the trailer bed can be lowered even if the engine has been stopped. The
bed may also lower due to a fault in the hydraulic system. Never go under a raised
trailedr bed or leave the bed lifted also because of the tipping over hazard.
The total weight of the trailer should not exceed the maximum loaded mass of the
loader. Load the trailer according to operating conditions using, for example, table 3
shown on page 10.
Transporting persons with the trailer is strictly prohibited. Even a temporary ride may
lead to serious injuries.

Remember to wear proper protective clothing:
•The noise level in the driver's seat exceeds 85 dB(A). Wear hearing protection while
working with the loader.
•It is recommended to wear slip-resistant and protective safety boots when working with
the loader.
•Wear protective gloves when handling hydraulic components.

5. Assembly of t e trailer
After installing the tires, and towing hitch on model A2949, the trailers are ready to be used. Read the
following instructions regarding the assembly and hitching, so that connecting and disconnecting of the trailer
can be done safely.
The trailer hitching ball can be installed by the operator. The tipping feature necessitates that either single or
double-acting hydraulic rear outlet is installed. Installation of the hydraulic outlet must be left for professional
service.
5.1. Installing the tires
For smaller transporting measurements the tires are separated from the trailer. To tighten the wheel nuts a
long 17 mm socket is needed. Tighten the wheel nuts crosswise to about 150 Nm. Check the tyre pressure
and wheel nut tightness periodically.
Make sure to lift the trailer safely and to use appropriate lifting equipment. Also a
loader equipped with pallet forks can be used to lift the trailer. Watch out the possible
swinging or falling of the trailer during installation. To support the trailer, use, for
example, empty pallets.
Installing towing hitch on A2949:
The retaining screws for the towing hitch are at the end of the drawbar. Install the towing hitch and tighten
the bolts adequately. Check the tightness regularly.
5.2. Tow ball

with either a separate hitching
plate, or with an extra
counterweight, that has the hitch
ball fitted. Always fix the
counterweight with the screws and
make sure that they are tight.
Use only one extra counterweight, that has
the hitch ball fitted, to couple the trailer. Using
multiple counterweights may lead to damage
of the fixings when handling heavy loads.
A poorly fitted hitching ball may cause a hazardous situation as the trailer becomes
separated or swings, or if the structures of the loader get damaged. Make sure that
the hitching ball, its fitting plate and the counterweight or rear plate of the loader are
fixed properly.

If the load applied on the rear axle of the loader is considerably heavier than on the
fron axle, the controllability of the loader is hindered. If the extra counterweight kit
(180 kg kit) is fitted, the trailer can not be fully loaded. Use only the hitching ball fitting
plate A31417.
5.3. Coupling and uncoupling the trailer with the loader
Hitching the trailer is quick and easy, but it most be done carefully. A trailer that becomes separated may
slide or swing hitting the operator or other persons. To avoid hazardous situations, always follow the
following instructions for hitching. Also remember the safety instructions in Cahpter 3 and also on the
operator’s manual of the loader. Coupling or uncoupling should only be done on level ground to avoid
posible sudden movements of the trailer.
Connecting the trailer to the hitch ball:
1. Drive the loader to as close to the tow bar of the trailer
as possible.
2. Lift the drawbar by turning the handle on the jack
clockwise as necessary. When the coupling is aligned
with the hitch ball, lower the coupling on the ball while
keeping the handle lifted.
3. Make sure that the trailer locks on the hitch ball. On the
side of the towing hitch, there is an couloured (red-
green-red) indicator. When the tariler is locked, the
arrow marker should point to the green area.
4. Turn the supporting jack all the way up and lift the jack
assembly up with the pin locks.
In between the trailer and the loader there is a risk of crushing. The trailer or the
loader may move unexpectedly. In addition, the drawbar of the trailer may swing
suddenly. Hitch and remove the trailer only on level surfaces. Make sure that the
parking brake of the loader is engaged. Also make sure that empty trailer stays put
by using chocks.
If the supporting jack sinks down on the ground, this will cause the hazard of
remaining crushed under the trailer. Make sure that the ground surface can carry the
load. Place extra plates under the jack as necessary.
A loaded trailer may swing or move abruptly when unhitching it. A heavy trailer that
starts to move can not be controlled manually. Due to this, the supporting of the
trailer must be taken care of when loading or unhitching the trailer. The trailer bed
must be lowered completely when hitching the trailer or taking it off from the loader.
Keep the trailer towing hitch and the hitch ball clean. Do not let the towing hitch to lay against the ground;
always use the trailer support jack.

5.4. Connecting and disconnecting the hydraulic couplings
According to the trailer model, there are either one or
two hydraulic hoses. Connect the single hose to the
quick coupling of the loader (pressure 1). Check the
order of the fittings from the operator’s manual of the
loader.
Connecting or disconnecting the hydraulic couplings while the system is pressurized
may lead to unintended movements of the attachment, or ejection of high-pressure
fluid, which can cause serious injuries. Never connect or disconnect quick couplings or
handle other hydraulic components while the system is under pressure or if the control
lever of the auxiliary hydraulics control lever is locked on. Shut down the loader engine
and release the residual pressure of the hydraulic system before connecting or
disconnecting the hydraulic couplings.
Keep the fittings as clean as possible; use the protective caps for the quick couplings on both the trailer and
the loader. Dirt, ice, etc. may make using the fittings significantly more difficult. Never leave the hoses
hanging on the ground; place them on stands on the the trailer.
Connecting quick couplings:
Before connecting or disconnecting the standard quick couplings, shut down the loader engine and move the
auxiliary hydraulics lever on the loader to its extreme positions a few times. This way, there will be no
residual pressure in the system and it is possible to connect the fittings.
The couplings are connected to the rear outlet of the loader by pushing the
coupling to its counterpart. The hose(s) should be connected so that the coupling
equipped with a coloured cap is connected to the coresponding coupling of the
loader. Note that the protective caps on the loader and the attachment can be
fastened to each other during operation to reduce the accumulation of dirt. When
disconnecting the standard quick couplings a small amount of oil may drip from
the couplings. Wear protective gloves and have some cloth at hand to keep the
equipment clean.
Disconnecting the hydraulics:
Before disconnecting the fittings, lower the attachment on solid and level surface. Turn the control levers of
the auxiliary hydraulics to their neutral position. The hoses are disconnected by pulling them out.
When removing the trailer, always disconnect the hydraulic couplings before unlocking
trailer, to prevent hose damage and any oil spills. Reinstall the protective caps on the
fittings to prevent impurities from entering the hydraulic system.
Releasing residual hydraulic pressure:
In case residual pressure is left in the hydraulic system of the trailer, it is often possible to disconnect the
hydraulic couplings, but it may be difficult to connect them the next time. If the fittings will not connect, the
residual pressure must be released by turning the auxiliary hydraulics control lever of the loader, when the
engine is turned off. To make sure that there will not be residual pressure in the hydraulic system of the
attachment, always lower the trailer comletely. Shut down the loader engine and move the auxiliary
hydraulics control lever of the loader before disconnecting the couplings.

6. Using t e trailer
Check the trailer and the operating area once more before starting to work. Check that there are no large
rocks or other obstacles that might overturn the trailer. Quick inspection of the equipment and the operating
area before use are parts of ensuring safety and the best performance of the equipment.
•Check that the trailer is hitched properly. Check also that the fitting of the hitching on the
loader is in order.
•Check that air pressure of the trailer wheels is suitable.
•Check the drawbar and the locking mechanism of the trailer regularly. Read the
instructions about maintenance and service on chapter 7.
•Avoid overloading the trailer. Use the table 3, shown below, to estimate the weight of the
load. Adapt the load according to loader model and operating conditions.
•Operate the trailer tipping only from the driver’s seat.
•Make sure that the loader and the trailer are used in a safe manner and as intended.
•Do not use the trailer to transport persons or as a working platform.
The possibility of tipping over of the trailer and the movements of the trailer cause a
risk for serious personal injuries or death. Make sure that there are no other persons at
the operating area of the trailer. Do not allow others to stay near the sides or behind
the trailer at less than 3 metres safety distance, or to the crushing hazard area in
between the trailer and the loader.

The information in the table can be used to estimate the weight of the load. The figures in the table are
as guidelines. Actual material densities may vary greatly according to factors such as moisture content
and compactness of the material.

The table helps to avoid loading of too heavy loads. The weight of the load in metric tonnes can be
calculated by multiplicating the volume of the material with its density.
Example: Trailer A2949 is filled with soil up to its sides (single sides). The weight of the load is, according to
the actual density of the material, in between 0,48 * 1,5 = 0,72 (720 kg) and 0,48 * 1,8 = 0,864 (870 kg). The
load carrying capacity must be estimated by taking in account the compactness of the material and the
evenness of the load.

Avoid losing control of the loader or tipping the trailer over by loading the trailer
according to operating conditions. On uneven terrains the maximum load carrying
capacity may not be achieved, as the controllability of the loader is hindered when a
trailer is hitched. The maximum capacity can be achieved only on good conditions,
when the surface is even.
To prevent damaging the support jack, make sure that the jack is fully lifted before
moving the trailer.
Make sure that enough load is applied on the trailer drawbar and on the loader hitch.
The drawbar must not be lifting (negative), because in this case the controllability of
the loader may be severely hindered. Also the suddenly lifting drawbar may hit the
operator when taking the trailer off from the loader.
6.1. Opening and removing the sides
After opening the locking of the sides, the plates can be removed by lifting them straigth upwards. Keep the
sides attached and locked always during transitions. Extra extending of the sides is prohibited.
6.2. Tipping the trailer
Use the tipping function only from the driver’s seat and only at the final emptying area. Verify that tipping is
safe by checking the terrain inclinations and by keeping others at a safe distance away from the equipment
due to the overturning risk of the trailer. Open the rear hatch of the trailer before activating the tipping. Lift
the trailer bed slowly and calmly. When the trailer bed is lifted, avoid shaking the trailer.
Lower the trailer bed before leaving the driver’s seat and always immediately after emptying it. If there is air
trapped in the hydraulic system of the trailer, the bed may twitch while lowering. The system will de-air itself
during normal use.
When using the tipping the trailer may overturn because the centre of gravity raises
high. Also a strong crosswind may affect the balance of the trailer. When tipping the
trailer, the ground must be laterally level and flat. Make sure that other persons
remain at a distance of at least 3 metres from the trailer beacuse of the risk of
overturningn of the trailer. The tipping must not be used in case there is a risk of
overturing.
Avoid hazards of crushing and faling of materials by opening the rear hatch of the
trailer before using the tipping function. Lower the trailer before trying to assist to
move the material on the trailer.
Hitting obstacles, such as tree branches, building eaves or low-hanging live wires
may cause serious hazards in addition to the tipping over hazard. Make sure that
overhead clearance is sufficient when tipping the trailer.

Sudden twitches or swings affect the balance of the trailer when tipping. Do not use the
electric joustick buttons to control the tipping. Drive calmly with loader, avoiding
sudden change in speed or twitches. Move the rear hydraulic control lever calmly eith
small movements and low engine rpm. Do not try to loosen material from the trailer by
swingin the trailer eith the tipping function or with driving the loader.
6.2.1. Operating the rear hydraulic outlet of the loader
Control of the rear hydraulics varies according to the loader model and the implementation of the rear
hydraulics. More information can be found from the operator’s manual of the loader.
•On 200-series loader the valve lever on the boom must be turned to “Rear” –position. After this,
tipping of the trailer is controlled with the auxiliary hydraulics control pedal.
•On 400- and 500-series loaders the rear hydraulic outlet is activated with an electric switch on
the dashboard. When the switch is activated, the rear hydraulics outlet is controlled with the
auxiliary hydraulics control lever.
•On 525LPG model and on 600- and 700-series loaders, the rear outlet is controlled with a
separate lever. Do not use the electric buttons of the joystick and select the 1-pump setting.
6.3. Operating on slopes and uneven terrains
To make sure that the pulling and braking force of the loader are sufficient, moving loads of over 1000 kg is
prohibited on steep slopes. Maximum allowed longitudinal inclination is 10°. Drive slowly on slopes and avoid
sudden changes in speed or direction. When loading the trailer on uneven terrain extra care must be taken
due to the tipping over risk of the trailer. Proper supportment of a parked trailer or loader-trailer combination
must be taken care of.
7. Maintenance and service
Continuous maintenance of the trailers includes regular cleaning and lubrication, as well as monitroing the
condition of the hydraulic hoses and components.
Keep the trailer clean and store it in a way that the drawbar locking or the hydraulic hoses are not in contact
with ground. To clean the trailer a pressure washer and a mild detergent may be used.
Check the condition of the hydraulic hoses and components regularly when the engine has been turned off
and the pressure has been relieved. Repair all leaks immediately after detecting them; a small leak can
quickly grow into a big one. Do not use the equipment, if you have discovered a fault in the hydraulic system.
Leaking hydraulic fluid may penetrate the skin and cause serious injuries. Hydraulic fluid is also harmful to
the environment.
Check hoses visually for cracks or abrasions. Monitor the wearing of the hoses and stop the use, if the
surface layer of the hose has worn off. If there are signs of leaking, to check the component, hold up a piece
of cardboard in the area where a leak is suspected. Finding any of these faults means that the hydraulic
hose or component in question must be replaced. Spare parts are available from your nearest AVANT
retailer or service point.

Going or reaching under a lifted trailer bed causes hazards of crushing and getting
trapped under the lowering trailer bed. The trailer must be lowered completely before
any maintenance work. Never go or reach under a tipped trailer.
Ejected oil may cause serious injuries. Do not use
the equipment if you have discovered a fault in
the hydraulic system. Never tighten a hydraulic
fitting that is under pressure, since the fitting may
break and cause ejection of oil.
7.1. Storage
The trailer should be protected from rain during storage. Protect the drawbar and locking separately. Water
must not be let to stay in th trailer to ensure long service life of the hed plate and the metal structures.
Support the trailer carefully for storage and prevent unauthorized use. Place, for example, blocks of wood
under the supporting jack, so that it is in direct contact with the ground.
Before long storage periods touch up the paint finish or oil the visible metal surfaces and the cylinder shaft.
Lubricate the trailer thoroughly as instructed below. During long storage periods, the tires may bend. Ensure
suitable tire pressure and move the trailer regularly a little.
7.2. Lubrication
There are a total of 7 lubricating points on the trailer, to which a small amount of grease should be added
after about every 10 hours of use. On demanding and dirty conditions the lubrication must be done more
often.
In addition to the lubricationg points, the towing hitch should be also greased regularly. A small amount of oil
should be added to the side panel lockings.

8. Warranty terms
Avant Tecno Oy grants a warranty of one year (12 months) for attachment from the date of purchase.
The warranty covers repair costs as follows:
•Work costs are covered, if the repair is not performed at the factory.
•The factory replaces any defective components or consumables.
The factory may reimburse the price of components purchased by the customer in special cases that have been agreed in
advance.
The warranty does not cover:
•Normal maintenance work, such as the replacement of blades or the belts, or parts and consumables required for it.
•Damages caused by unusual operating conditions or ways of use, negligence, overload, structural changes made
without the consent of Avant Tecno Oy, use of non-original parts or lack of maintenance.
•Consequences of a defect, such as interruption of work or other possible additional damages.
•Travel and/or freight costs caused by the repair.
