AVS C-Series car alarm range

Thank you for choosing an AVS C-Series car security system.
This range of car alarms has been designed to provide a superior
level of security for you and your CAN-Bus equipped vehicle. A
CAN-Bus alarm does not interfere with the car’s operating system
and provides hassle free operation with the benefits of improved
security features. Please read this guide carefully and keep it in a
safe place for future reference.
Examples of factory (OEM) remote control functions
Your AVS C-Series alarm is designed to be operated from your car’s
factory remote.
The table below is an example of how the AVS C-Series alarm will
function with a standard OEM remote.
Locks the doors
Arms the alarm
Opens the boot
Disarms the boot circuit and any sensors until the boot
is shut when it will then re-arm and return to normal
Unlocks the doors
Disarms the alarm
NOTE: Not all factory remotes have a boot release button.
Alternatively your alarm can be operated by an AVS CAN remote.
Please talk to your AVS installer for more information.

1. Press the button on your car’s factory remote.
2. The indicators will flash once and the AVS siren will chirp once.
3. The doors will lock and the LED light on the dash will stay on solid
for 10 seconds and then start flashing. The system is now armed.
ARMING WITH SENSORS DISABLED
1. Press and hold the override button until the LED light on the dash
starts flashing quickly.
2. Exit the vehicle as normal and press the button on your car’s
factory remote.
3. The indicators will flash once and the AVS siren will chirp once
followed by two chirps to confirm the sensors are disabled.
4. The doors will lock and the LED light on the dash will stay on solid
for 10 seconds and then start flashing. The system is now armed.
NOTE: You will need to do this each time you want the sensors
disabled for that arming cycle.
ALARM TRIGGER
If a door, bonnet, or boot is opened or a sensor is triggered (AVS C5/
C4) while the system is armed the siren will sound and the indicators
will flash for 30 seconds. The system will then re-set itself.
Pressing the button during an alarm activation will stop the alarm
and revert to an armed state.
Pressing the button during an alarm activation will stop the
alarm and revert to a disarmed and unlocked state.
DOOR AJAR WARNING
If the siren chirps three times on arming a door, bonnet or boot is
open. The system will exclude that zone until it is properly closed and
the alarm is disarmed then armed again.
Arming
Examples of factory (OEM) remote control functions

1. Press the button on your car’s factory remote.
2. The indicators will flash twice and the AVS siren will chirp twice.
3. The doors will unlock. The LED light on the dash will flash until
any door is opened and then stop flashing. The system is now
disarmed.
4. If no doors or boot are opened within 30 seconds of disarming the
system will automatically re-arm and re-lock.
NOTE: If automatic re-arm and re-lock has been programmed off by
your installer the LED will flash for three seconds on disarm and then
turn off.
NOTE: If the siren chirps three times on disarm the alarm has been
triggered while you were away from the vehicle.
1. Press the button on your car’s factory remote.
2. The alarm will disarm the boot input and any sensors. This allows
you to access the boot without triggering the alarm but keeps the
rest of the vehicle secure.
3. The LED light on the dash will flash quickly to show it is in this
state.
4. Closing the boot will re-arm the alarm and return it to normal.

Emergency disarm
IMPORTANT. PLEASE READ.
Emergency disarm allows you to temporarily disarm the alarm if the car’s
factory remotes are lost or broken (or the remote batteries are flat). This is
done using a unique 4-digit PIN code being entered via the override button.
The unique PIN code for your alarm is recorded at the back of this
manual and on the supplied PIN code card. Without it there is no
way to disarm the alarm. Please familiarise yourself on how to use the PIN
code and store the code safely so you are able to carry out emergency disarm
if required.
HOW TO USE PIN CODE OVERRIDE FOR EMERGENCY DISARM
1. Enter the vehicle leaving the door open. If the alarm is armed the siren
will sound.
2. Turn the ignition ON.
3. Press the override button an equal number of times to the first digit of the
PIN code leaving intervals of less than 1 second between presses.
4. Wait 2 seconds, the LED in the dash will flash for 1 second.
5. Repeat until all four digits are entered.
6. If the code entered is correct the alarm will disarm.
NOTE: This emergency disarm procedure only disarms the AVS alarm. If your
car has a factory immobiliser it may still prevent the car from being started. In
this instance you will need to contact a locksmith.

A digital battery back-up siren is included with the AVS C5 and AVS
C4 alarms.
The siren has its own battery and charging system so will continue to
sound if power is cut to it from the car. It also communicates with the
alarm via an independent digital line to make it more difficult for a
would be thief to disable it.
The siren will sound if power is removed when the alarm is in an
armed state but will not sound if the alarm is in a disarmed state.
NOTE: If you need to disconnect the car battery make sure you
disarm the alarm first.
NOTE: The AVS C3 comes with a standard siren but this can be
upgraded to the digital battery back-up siren.
A tilt sensor is included with the AVS C5 (if your car does not already
have this as standard) and can be fitted to the AVS C4/C3 for an
additional charge. The sensor is fully digital and contains extensive
anti-falsing circuitory.
The tilt sensor is active 60 seconds after the alarm is armed during
which time the sensor sets itself to the angle the car is parked on. If
the car is tilted in any direction it triggers the alarm.
Other sensors do not protect wheels and tyres, or detect if the car
is being towed, so a digital tilt sensor is a valuable addition to your
security system.

Ultrasonic sensor
An ultrasonic sensor is included with the AVS C5 and C4 (if your car
does not already have this as standard) and can be fitted to the AVS
C3 for an additional charge.
This sensor triggers the alarm if a change in air pressure or
movement is detected in the vehicle. It does this by transmitting
ultrasonic sound waves (like a bat’s sonar) around the interior of the
vehicle. It provides a high level of protection for the cabin of the car.
Remember to ensure all entry points such as windows and sunroofs are securely shut
because air movement will trigger the sensor. Also do not leave animals or children
inside the car with the alarm armed unless you use Arming with sensors disabled.
Optional features are dependent on the systems already in your
vehicle. Not all features are available on all vehicles. Some
features may require additional parts and/or additional installation
charges. Features are subject to change. Please check with your
AVS installer.
AVS CAN-BUS REMOTE
Your AVS alarm can be operated from a separate AVS CAN remote
on selected vehicles rather than your car’s factory remote. This
can be a more affordable option compared with purchasing an
additional or new factory remote.
WINDOW ROLL UP
This feature shuts all the windows of the vehicle when the alarm is
armed from the car’s factory remote.
Optional features

SILENT ARM/DISARM
The system can be programmed by your AVS installer to either silently
arm and disarm, or to only chirp on arming. The indicators will still flash.
AUTO RE-ARM AND RE-LOCK
This feature prevents the accidental disarming of the system. It will
re-arm and re-lock the doors if the system is disarmed and a door not
opened within in 30 seconds. This feature is on by default but can be
programmed off by your AVS installer.
DOOR LOCK ON IGNITION
The system will lock the doors 8 seconds after the ignition is turned on,
and unlock the doors when the ignition is turned off.
If a passenger’s door is unlocked and opened with the ignition on it will
lock again 8 seconds after it is closed. If the driver’s door is unlocked
and opened with the ignition on the door lock on ignition function will
be cancelled until the ignition is turned off and on again.

Air pressure sensor
Detects a sudden change in air pressure inside the car caused by fast
intrusions such as a door being opened.
Digital tilt sensor
Essential protection for mag wheels. Will trigger if the car is tilted in
any direction from 1 degree. The AVS C5 comes with a tilt sensor.
Glass break sensor
Detects the sound frequency of breaking glass.
GPS Tracking
Continuously monitor your vehicle with full real time tracking or cost
effective location on demand via TXT. Plus monitor or TXT control other
functions from the GPS device.
Microwave sensor
Ideal for convertibles it detects body mass, such as a person, entering
the vehicle.
PIR motion sensor
Ideal for protecting the back of vans and trucks, it detects body heat and
movement.
Reed switch
If you have a ute with a canopy we recommend fitting a magnetic reed
switch which will trigger if the canopy is lifted from the ute.
Screamer siren
An extremely high-pitched mini siren installed in the cabin of the
vehicle.
Shock sensor
An impact sensor that will trigger the alarm on a heavy impact to the
vehicle.
Ultrasonic sensors
Measures air pressure and movement within the car and will trigger the
alarm if the pressure changes. Gives superior protection for the interior
of the vehicle. The AVS C5 and C4 comes with ultrasonic sensors.

Frequently asked questions
I have lost/damaged my car’s factory remote. How do I disarm the alarm?
You can use the PIN code for emergency disarm. Follow the instructions in this
manual. Please note that if your car has a factory immobiliser the car may still not
start. In this instance contact a locksmith.
My alarm chirps three times when I arm it instead of the usual one chirp?
A door, bonnet or boot is open. Disarm the system, correct the problem and start again.
I get three chirps when I disarm the alarm instead of the usual two chirps?
The system has been triggered while you were away from the vehicle. See your AVS
installer if you would like a diagnosis of what has triggered the alarm as this can be
retrieved from the system’s memory.
I disarmed the system a few minutes ago but now it is armed again?
The system will automatically rearm if you disarm the alarm but do not open a door
or boot within 30 seconds. This can be programmed off by your AVS installer.
I have lost/broken my car’s remote, can I use an AVS remote to operate
the alarm?
Most vehicles will be compatible with the AVS CAN remote. Ask your installer.
Can I add an AVS remote as a spare remote for my AVS CAN-Bus alarm?
Yes, in most cases your vehicle will be compatible with the AVS CAN remote.
Ask your installer.
The system disarms and the dash lights are working but the car won’t start?
There is a clicking sound when I try to turn the car over to start?
It is likely the car battery is flat. The system draws such a small amount of power
it can be armed and disarmed (just like you can still see the dash lights) but the
car does not have enough power to start. You will need to replace or recharge
the car battery.
I’m worried the alarm will drain the car battery?
The system has been designed to draw as small an amount of current from your car
battery as possible. As long as the car’s battery is in good condition the system should
not adversely affect most car’s batteries if left unattended up to about three weeks.
NOTE: If jump starting the car please use protected jumper leads as failure to
do so can do irreparable damage to the alarm system (and your car’s computer
system) and will void your car alarm warranty.
