Howtoaccesstheproductfromabrowser
1.Startawebbrowser.
2.EntertheIPaddressorhostnameoftheAxisproductinthebrowser’saddresseld.
ToaccesstheproductfromaMaccomputer(OSX),gotoSafari,clickonBonjourandselecttheproductfromthe
drop-downlist.ToaddBonjourasabrowserbookmark,gotoSafari>Preferences.
3.Enteryourusernameandpassword.Ifthisisthersttimetheproductisaccessed,therootpasswordmustrstbe
congured.
Aboutsecurepasswords
Important
Axisdeicessendtheinitiallysetpasswordincleartextoerthenetwork.Toprotectyourdeiceaftertherstlogin,set
upasecureandencryptedHTTPSconnectionandthenchangethepassword.
Thedeicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforthedataandserices.Axisdeicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicyastheymaybe
usedinarioustypesofinstallations.Toprotectyourdatawerecommendthatyou:
•Changethedefaultpasswordthatcomeswiththedeices.
•Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablycreatedbyapasswordgenerator.
•Don’texposethepassword.
•Changepasswordatarecurringinteral,atleastonceayear.
Setasecurepasswordfortherootaccout
Important
Theadministratorusernamerootcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,thedeicemustberesettothe
factorydefaultsettings.
1.Makesuretofollowtheinstructionsaboutsecurepasswords.SeeAboutsecurepasswordsonpage5.
2.Thersttimeyoulogontothedeice,usethedefaultusernamerootandpasswordpass.
3.Typeanewpasswordandthenretypeittoconrmthespelling.
4.ClickNext.Thepasswordhasnowbeencongured.

Therearetwohelpfeaturesintheuserinterface:
•Togetgeneralinformationaboutthecontrolsoneachpage,clickinthebottomrightcornerofthebrowserwindow.
•Togetdetailedinformationaboutanindiidualsetting,clicknexttothesetting.

1.GotoDisplay.
2.SelectoneoftheseoptionsunderMultiode:
-Toshowtheideosourcesoneatatimeinsequence,selectSequencer,andsettheinteralthateachsource
isdisplayed.
-Toshowmultipleideosourcesatthesametime,selectMultiview,andselectalayout.
3.UnderVideooutput,selectaresolutionandrefreshratethatworkswithyourdisplay.Seethedocumentationforyour
display.

ThecamerawizardonlyworkswithAxiscameras.Addcamerasfromotherbrandsoneatatime.SeeHowtoaddasngle
cameraonpage6.
1.GotoVideosources.
2.ClickCaerawizard.
ThewizardsearchesthenetworkforAxiscameras.
3.Whenyouopenthecamerawizard,theAddcredentialswindowopensautomatically.Ifyoudon’twanttoaddany
credentials,closethewindow.
4.SelectthecamerastoaddandclickConnect.
Thedecoderwilltrytoaccessthecamerawithallsaedcredentials.SeeHowtoaddusernamesandpasswordsfor
camerasonpage7.
5.Toaccessmoresettingsforthecameras,seeAdvancedcamerasettngsonpage7.

Thedecoderneedsusernamesandpasswordstothecamerasinordertoaccesstheideostreams.
Thedecodercanhaemultiplecredentialssaed.Itwilltrytoaccessallcamerasusingallofthestoredcredentials.

3.Whenyouopenthecamerawizard,theAddcredentialswindowopensautomatically.Tomanuallyopenthewindow,
clickAddunderCredentials.

Howtoresettofactorydefaultsettigs
Important
Resettofactorydefaultshouldbeusedwithcaution.Aresettofactorydefaultresetsallsettings,includingtheIPaddress,to
thefactorydefaultalues.
1.GotoMaintenance.
2.SelectDefaultsysteconguration.
3.SelectConr.
4.ClickSet.
Itisalsopossibletoresetparameterstofactorydefaultwiththerestartbutton.Withthedeiceturnedon,pressandholdthe
restartbuttonfor10seconds.
Howtocheckthecurretrmware
Firmwareisthesoftwarethatdeterminesthefunctionalityofnetworkdeices.Oneofyourrstactionswhentroubleshootinga
problemshouldbetocheckthecurrentrmwareersion.Thelatestersionmaycontainacorrectionthatxesyourparticular
problem.
Tocheckthecurrentrmware:
1.Gototheproduct’swebpage.
2.SelectStatus.
3.ThermwareersionisshownunderVersion.
Howtoupgradethermware
Important
Preconguredandcustomizedsettingsaresaedwhenthermwareisupgraded(proidedthatthefeaturesareaailablein
thenewrmware)althoughthisisnotguaranteedbyAxisCommunicationsAB.
Important
Makesuretheproductremainsconnectedtothepowersourcethroughouttheupgradeprocess.

Whenyouupgradetheproductwiththelatestrmware,theproductreceiesthelatestfunctionalityaailable.Alwaysread
theupgradeinstructionsandreleasenotesaailablewitheachnewreleasebeforeupgradingthermware.Tondthelatest

2.Logintotheproduct.
3.GotoMaintenance.
4.SelectFirwareupdate,andfollowtheinstructions.Whentheupgradehasnished,theproductrestartsautomatically.

Problesupgradingtherware
FirmwareupgradefailureIfthermwareupgradefails,theproductreloadsthepreiousrmware.Themostcommonreason
isthatthewrongrmwarelehasbeenuploaded.Checkthatthenameofthermwarele
correspondstoyourproductandtryagain.
ProblessettingtheIPaddress
Theproductislocatedona
differentsubnet
IftheIPaddressintendedfortheproductandtheIPaddressofthecomputerusedtoaccessthe
productarelocatedondifferentsubnets,youcannotsettheIPaddress.Contactyournetwork
administratortoobtainanIPaddress.
TheIPaddressisbeingused
byanotherdeice
DisconnecttheAxisproductfromthenetwork.Runthepingcommand(inaCommand/DOS
window,typepingandtheIPaddressoftheproduct):
•Ifyoureceie:Replyfrom<IPaddress>:bytes=32;time=10...
thismeansthattheIPaddressmayalreadybeinusebyanotherdeiceonthenetwork.
ObtainanewIPaddressfromthenetworkadministratorandreinstalltheproduct.
•Ifyoureceie:Requesttimedout,thismeansthattheIPaddressisaailable
forusewiththeAxisproduct.Checkallcablingandreinstalltheproduct.
PossibleIPaddressconict
withanotherdeiceonthe
samesubnet
ThestaticIPaddressintheAxisproductisusedbeforetheDHCPserersetsadynamicaddress.
ThismeansthatifthesamedefaultstaticIPaddressisalsousedbyanotherdeice,theremay
beproblemsaccessingtheproduct.
Theproductcannotbeaccessedfroabrowser
CannotloginWhenHTTPSisenabled,ensurethatthecorrectprotocol(HTTPorHTTPS)isusedwhenattempting
tologin.Youmayneedtomanuallytypehttporhttpsinthebrowser’saddresseld.
Ifthepasswordfortheuserrootislost,theproductmustberesettothefactorydefaultsettings.

IPaddressesobtainedfromaDHCPsereraredynamicandmaychange.IftheIPaddresshas
beenchanged,useAXISIPUtilityorAXISCameraManagementtolocatetheproductonthe
network.Identifytheproductusingitsmodelorserialnumber,orbytheDNSname(ifthename
hasbeencongured).
Ifrequired,astaticIPaddresscanbeassignedmanually.Forinstructions,gotoaxs.com/support
