TheLiveViewageintheroductrovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailablestream
roles.Otheralicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheLiveViewage.
HowtoStreamH.264
H.264can,withoutcomromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comaredwiththeMotion
JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragesace
arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.
Decidingwhichcombinationofrotocolsandmethodstousedeendsonyourviewingrequirements,andontheroertiesof
yournetwork.TheavailableotionsinAXISMediaControlare:
UnicastRTPThisunicastmethod(RTPoverUDP)isused

ThebitratecanbesetasVariablebitrate(VBR)orMaximumbitrate(MBR).VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtotheimage
comlexity,usingumorebandwidthforincreasedactivityintheimage,andlessforlowerimageactivity.Whentheactivityin
thesceneincreases,thebitratewouldusuallyincreaseaswell.Ifthereisasurlusinbandwidth,thismaynotbeanissueand
selectingVariablebitrate(VBR)willbesufcient.Butifbandwidthislimited,itisrecommendedtocontrolthebitratebyselecting
Maximumbitrate(MBR).Whentheactivityinthesceneincreases,VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtothecomlexity,usingu
morebandwidthforincreasedactivityinthescene,andlessforlowersceneactivity.MBRallowsyoutosetatargetbitratethat
limitsthebandwidthconsumtion.
TheMBRtargetbitrateworksliketheceilingofatent.Itlimitsthebitrate,whilemaintainingsomeexibility.Thebitrate
maybounceuanddownwithinthesettargetbutwhenitnearsthesettargetvalue,thelimitationkicksin.However,because
MBRwillalwaysrioritizeacontinuousvideostream,itallowstemoraryovershootsfromthetargetbitrate.Becausesettinga
targetvaluereventsthebitratefromincreasing,framerateandimagequalityareaffectednegatively.Toartlycomensatefor

alongertime.Toreducethebitrate,Zistreamreducesthenumberofbitsintheareasoftheimagethatarelessinterestingfroma

facesandlicenselates,arereservedwithenoughnumberofbits.
