Whenusing50Hzthemaximumframerateislimitedto25fps.

H.264canwithoutcompromisingimagequalityreducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion
JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace
arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherwaymuchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.
Decidingwhichcombinationofprotocolsandmethodstousedependsonyourviewingrequirementsandonthepropertiesof
yournetwork.TheavailableoptionsinAXISMediaControlare:

ThebitratecanbesetasVariablebitrate(VBR)orMaximumbitrate(MBR).VBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtotheimage
complexityusingupmorebandwidthforincreasedactivityintheimageandlessforlowerimageactivity.Whentheactivityin
thesceneincreasesthebitratewouldusuallyincreaseaswell.Ifthereisasurplusinbandwidththismaynotbeanissueand
selectingVariablebitrate(VBR)willbesufcient.Butifbandwidthislimiteditisrecommendedtocontrolthebitratebyselecting
Maximumbitrate(MBR).WhentheactivityinthesceneincreasesVBRadjuststhebitrateaccordingtothecomplexityusingup
morebandwidthforincreasedactivityinthesceneandlessforlowersceneactivity.MBRallowsyoutosetatargetbitratethat
limitsthebandwidthconsumption.

Thecapturemodesettingreducesimageickerinuorescentlightenvironmentsasimagedataissampledataratethatmatchesthe
localpowerlinefrequency.Capturemodeissetthersttimetheproductisaccessed.Selectthecapturemodewiththepower
linefrequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproductandclickOK.Whenusing50Hzthemaximumframerate
islimitedto25fps.

Powerlinefrequencyisdifferentindifferentgeographicregions.IntheAmericas60Hzisusuallyused;mostotherpartsof

photoandtoolittlelightresultsinadarkscene.Selectasuitableoptiontocontrolexposure.
TheFlicker-free50or60zoptionremovesickerthatiscausedbyuorescentandotherlightsources.Theoldcurrentoption
locksthecurrentexposuresettings.
Maxexposuretime-Shutterspeedalsocalled‘exposuretime’standsforthelengthoftimethecamerashutterisopenthereby
exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively.Ifshutterspeedisslowitcancause
movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur.
EnableBacklightcompensation-Enablethisoptionifabrightspotoflightsuchasalightbulbcausesotherareasintheimage
toappeartoodark.
Exposurezones-Thissettingdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.FormostsituationstheAuto
settingcanbeused.
