Important
Whensettingtheinitialpassword,thepasswordissentincleartextoverthenetwork.Ifthereisariskofnetworksnifng,
rstsetupasecureandencryptedHTTPSconnectionbeforeresettingthepasswords.
Thedevicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforthedataandservices.Axis’devicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicyasdevicesmay
beusedinvarioustypesofinstallations,buttoprotectyourdatadothefollowing:
•Don’tusethedefaultpasswordthatcomeswiththedevices.
•Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablyusingapasswordgenerator.
•Don’texposethepassword.
•Changepasswordatarecurringinterval,atleastonceayear.
Setapasswordfortherootaccount
Important
Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,thedevicemustberesetto
thefactorydefaultsettings.
Thedefaultrootaccounthasfullprivilegesandshouldbereservedforadministrativetasks.Alwayscreateauseraccountwithlimited
privilegesfordailyuse.Thisreducestheexposureoftheadministrativeaccount.

Forproductswithrmware6.50orprevious,gotoSetup>Applicationstoinstalltheapplication.
2.Uploadtheapplicationle(.eap)tothecamera.
3.Activatethelicense.Ifyou’reonline,enterthelicensecode.Theapplicationautomaticallyactivatesthelicense.
Seetheproduct’sbuilt-inhelpforfurtherinstructions.
4.Tosetuptheapplication,gotoHowtoaccesstheapplicationsettings.

Useaashingbeacontoletpossibleintrudersknowthatyourperimeterisprotected.
Thisscenarioexplainshowtoconnectaashingbeaconandsetituptoashwheneverthethermalcameradetectsanintrusion.In
thisscenariothebeaconcanonlybeactivatedtoashduetoalarmsoutsideofcehours,between8.00and08.00Monday-Friday,
anditshouldashfor30secondseachtimeitisactivated.

Useanetworkhornspeakertowarnanddeterpossibleintruders.
ThisscenarioexplainshowtoconnectanAxisnetworkhornspeakertothecameraandsetituptoplayanaudioclipwheneverthe
thermalcameradetectsanintrusion.Inthisscenario,thehornspeakercanonlybeactivatedduetoalarmscomingoutsideofce
hours,between8.00and08.00Monday-Friday.
