Thedevicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforyourdataandservices.Axisdevicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicyasthey
maybeusedinvarioustypesofinstallations.
Toprotectyourdatawestronglyrecommendthatyou:
•Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablycreatedbyapasswordgenerator.
•Don’texposethepassword.
•Changethepasswordatarecurringinterval,atleastonceayear.

Usetheremotepan,tilt,roll,andzoom(PTRZ)functionalitytocompletetheinstallationofyourcamera.
Thecamerascansitssurroundingsandgeneratesanoverviewimage.Usethisimagetoselectthepartofthescenethatyou
wanttomonitor.
Note
Duringthescan,thecameradeterminesifit’swallorceilingmounted.Thisisimportantifyouwanttobeabletoclickthe
liveviewtopanandtilt.

Levelthecamera
Toadjusttheviewinrelationtoareferenceareaoranobject,usethelevelgridincombinationwithamechanicaladjustment
ofthecamera.
1.GotoVideoImageandclick.
2.Clicktoshowthelevelgrid.
3.Adjustthecameramechanicallyuntilthepositionofthereferenceareaortheobjectisalignedwiththelevelgrid.
Adjustthefocus
Thisproducthasthreefocusmodes:
•Auto:Thecameraautomaticallyadjustsfocusbasedontheentireimage.
•Area:Thecameraautomaticallyadjustsfocusbasedonaselectedareaoftheimage.
•Manual:Thefocusissetmanuallyataxeddistance.
Toturnoffautofocusandadjustthefocusmanually:
1.Intheliveviewwindow,iftheZoomsliderisvisible,clickZoomandselectFocus.

Adjustthefocusfasterwithfocusrecallareas
Tosavethefocussettingsataspecicpan/tiltrange,addafocusrecallarea.Eachtimethecameramovesintothatareaitrecallsthe
previouslysavedfocus.It’senoughtocoverhalfofthefocusrecallareaintheliveview.
Werecommendthefocusrecallfeatureinthefollowingscenarios:
•Whenthereisalotofmanualoperationinliveview,forexamplewithajoystick.

•Thefocusrecalloverridesthecamera’sautofocusatthespecicpan/tiltrange.
•Apresetpositionoverridesthefocussettingsavedinthefocusrecallarea.
•Themaximumnumberoffocusrecallareasis20.
Createafocusrecallarea
1.Pan,tilt,andzoomintotheareawhereyouwouldliketohavefocus.
Aslongasthefocusrecallbuttonshowsaplus,youcanaddafocusrecallareainthatposition.
2.Adjustthefocus.

Deleteafocusrecallarea
1.Pan,tilt,andzoomintothefocusrecallareayouwanttodelete.
Thefocusrecallbuttontogglestominuswhenthecameradetectsafocusrecallarea:.

Selectsceneprole
Asceneproleisasetofpredenedimageappearancesettingsincludingcolorlevel,brightness,sharpness,contrastandlocal
contrast.Sceneprolesarepreconguredintheproductforquicksetuptoaspecicscenario,forexampleForensicwhichis
optimizedforsurveillanceconditions.Foradescriptionofeachavailablesetting,seeThewebinterfaceonpage20.
Youcanselectasceneproleduringtheinitialsetupofthecamera.Youcanalsoselectorchangesceneprolelater.

2.GotoSceneproleandselectaprole.
Reduceimageprocessingtimewithlowlatencymode
Youcanoptimizetheimageprocessingtimeofyourlivestreambyturningonlowlatencymode.Thelatencyinyourlivestreamis
reducedtoaminimum.
1.GotoSystemPlaincong.
2.SelectImageSourcefromthedrop-downlist.
3.GotoImageSource/I0/SensorLowlatencymodeandselectOn.
4.ClickSave.
Selectexposuremode
Toimproveimagequalityforspecicsurveillancescenes,useexposuremodes.Exposuremodesletsyoucontrolaperture,shutter
speed,andgain.GotoVideoImageExposureandselectbetweenthefollowingexposuremodes:

BenetfromIRlightinlow-lightconditionsbyusingnightmode
Yourcamerausesvisiblelighttodelivercolorimagesduringtheday.Butasthevisiblelightdiminishes,colorimagesbecomeless
brightandclear.Ifyouswitchtonightmodewhenthishappens,thecamerausesbothvisibleandnear-infraredlighttodeliverbright
anddetailedblack-and-whiteimagesinstead.Youcansetthecameratoswitchtonightmodeautomatically.
1.GotoVideoImageDay-nightmode,andmakesurethattheIR-cutlterissettoAuto.
2.Tosetatwhatlightlevelyouwantthecameratoswitchtonightmode,movetheThresholdslidertowardBrightorDark.
Note
Ifyousettheswitchtonightmodetooccurwhenit’sbrighter,theimageremainssharperasthereislesslow-lightnoise.If
yousettheswitchtooccurwhenit’sdarker,theimagecolorsaremaintainedforlonger,butthereismoreimageblurdue
tolow-lightnoise.
Maximizethedetailsinanimage
Important
Ifyoumaximizethedetailsinanimage,thebitratewillprobablyincreaseandyoumightgetareducedframerate.
•GotoVideoStreamGeneralandsetthecompressionaslowaspossible.
•Belowtheliveviewimage,clickandinVideoformat,selectMJPEG.
•GotoVideoStreamZipstreamandselectOff.
Handlesceneswithstrongbaclight
Dynamicrangeisthedifferenceinlightlevelsinanimage.Insomecasesthedifferencebetweenthedarkestandthebrightest
areascanbesignicant.Theresultisoftenanimagewhereeitherthedarkorthebrightareasarevisible.Widedynamicrange
(WDR)makesbothdarkandbrightareasoftheimagevisible.
1.GotoVideoImageWidedynamicrange.
2.TosettheamountofWDR,selectLow,MediumorHighfromtheWDRlevellist.
3.Ifyoustillhaveproblems,gotoExposureandadjusttheExposurezonetocovertheareaofinterest.

Stabilizeashayimagewithelectronicimagestabilization(EIS)
ElectronicImageStabilization(EIS)canbeusedinenvironmentswheretheproductismountedinanexposedlocationandsubjectto
vibrations,forexample,windorpassingtrafc.
EISmakestheimagesmoother,steadierandlessblurry.Italsoreducesthelesizeofthecompressedimageandlowersthe
bitrateofthevideostream.
Note
TheimageiscroppedslightlywhenEISisenabled,loweringthemaximumresolution.
