Riskswithrepainting
ThereareseveralriskswhendisassemblingorassemblinganAxisproduct.Thereisalwaysacertainyieldlossduringassembly.Training
ofoperatorsandtheuseofcorrecttoolsmediatessomeoftheproblemsbuttheycanneverbefullyavoided.Someoftherisksinclude:
ESDDamage-AlwayshandletheproductinanESDsafeenvironment.EvenifprecautionsaretakenthereisalwaysariskofESD
damage.Thedamagecanremainundetectedandcauseproblemsduringthelifetimeoftheeuipment.
Dustcontamination-Openingacameramayexposethelensandsensortodustorpaint.Dustwillaffecttheopticalperformance.
Lensesneedtobedisassembledinadust-freeenvironment,preferablyacleanroom.
Paintoverspray-Maskingthedifferentcomponentsoftheeuipmentiscritical.Failuretomasksensitiveareascancauseproblems
withassemblingtheeuipment.Anyareasthatarenotpaintedatfactoryorhaveadifferentsurfacetreatmentthantherestofthe
parts(threads,groundandelectricalcontactsurfaces)mustalsobemaskedtoensurefunction.

Preparations
•Maskcrucialpartsoftheproducttopreventpaintfromenteringinside.
•Cleantheareastoberepaintedfromgrease,dustandoil,andpretreatthedifferentpartsusingapplicablemethodsbased
onthepartmaterialsandthetypeofpaintappliedatthefactory
Important
Disassemblingtheproductforrepaintingpurposesmeansthatitsingressprotection(IP)ratingcannotbeguaranteed.
Disassemblywillresultinlapseofwarranty.
Masking
Maskthefollowingparts:
•Allvisiblescrewsandscrewholes
•Shaftopeningsinthepanunit
•Openingbetweenthebaseunitandthepanunit
•Labelsandfrontwindow

Pretreatmentofparts
Dependingonthepartmaterialandtypeofpaintappliedatfactory,differentpretreatmentsshouldbedoneforthenewpaintto
adhereaswellaspossible.Forallvariantsthough,propercleaningtoremoveoil,greaseanddustisstronglyrecommended.

Powdercoatedparts-Usingnesandpaper,removetheoriginalpowdercoatingdowntothebasematerialandcleantheparts
beforepainting,oruseaprimer.
Anodisedandchromatedparts-Useaprimer.
Uncoatedstainlesssteel-Nospecialpretreatmentisneeded,butmakesurethatthesurfaceiscleanbeforepainting.
Plastic-Useaprimer.
Repainting
1.Applyathinandevenlayerofspraypaintaccordingtotheinstructionsofthepaintmanufacturer,andletthepaintdry.
2.Ifyouwishtogetabettercoverageandclearercolor,applyasecondlayerofspraypaint.
3.Whenthepaintisdry,removethemasking.
