Countries of Operation and Conditions of Use in the European

This device is intended to be operated in all countries of the European
Community. Requirements for indoor vs. outdoor operation, license
requirements and allowed channels of operation apply in some countries as
described in this document.
Note: The user must use the configuration utility provided with this
product to check the current channel of operation and confirm that the
devices operating in conformance with the spectrum usage rules for
Euroean Community countries as described below.
If operation is occurring outside of the allowable channels as indicated in this
guide, then the user must cease operating the product and consult with the
local technical support staff responsible for the wireless network.
This device may be operated indoors or outdoors in all countries of the
European Community using the 2.4GHz band: Channels 1 – 13, except
where noted below:
· In Italy the end-user must apply for a license from the national spectrum
authority to operate this device outdoors.
· In France outdoor operation is only permitted using the 2.4 – 2.454 GHz
band: Channels 1 – 7.

Radio Frequency Interference Warnings &
Instructions
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B
digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to
provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential instal-
lation. This equipment uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not

typical laptop computer configurations and this device can be used in desktop or
laptop computers with side mounted PCMCIA slots which can provide 1 cm sepa-
ration distance from the antenna to the body of the user or a nearby person. Thin
laptop computers may need special attention to maintain antenna spacing while
operating. This device cannot be used with handheld PDAs (personal digital as-
sistants). Use in other configurations may not ensure compliance with FCC RF
exposure guidelines. This device and its antenna must not be co-located or
operated in conjection with another antenna or transmitter.

Introduction
Thank you on your purchase of the Wireless Broadband 4-Port Router! The Wireless 4-
Port Router allows you to share high-speed broadband connection with multiple PC using
a single device wired or wireless.
The Wireless Broadband 4-Port Router can be connected to any computer/notebook with
a 10/100 Base-T Ethernet card for wired connection or a IEEE 802.11g Wireless adapter.
The Ethernet port have Auto MDI/MDIX feature which allows both cross or straight UTP
cable to be utilized. The Wireless 4-port Ethernet Router has an in-built IEEE802.11g
Wireless LAN Access Point for wireless connectivity.
This Router also supports AtherosTM Wireless Super G-Turbo mode which allow 108Mbps
Wireless networking when connected to another Wireless Super G client.
This documentation assumes that you have already installed an Ethernet card or wireless
adapter on your computer/notebook.

2To activate the reset function:
- Ensure that your CABLE/DSL Router is powered on.
-There are two ways to reset.
1) Use a paper clip or a pencil tip to depress the reset button and release. This will do a
normal reboot with the last saved setting. At this point, the WAN (if connected) and the ETHERNET
indicators will light up. The reset is in progress.- When the indicator light up or blinking, it means
that the reset process is completed.
2) Use a paper clip or a pencil tip to depress and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. This
will reset the router to factory default. At this point, the WAN (if connected) and the ETHERNET
indicators will light up. The reset is in progress.- When the indicator light up or blinking, it means
that the reset process is completed. The factory default settings are now restored.

Step 1:Connect ADSL Modem to the Modem port of the Cable/DSL Wireless Router.
Step 2:Connect the computer to the LAN port of the Cable/DSL Wireless Router. Refer to
the section on "Connecting the Cable/DSL Wireless Router to your Computer/
notebook" follow by "Configuring Your Ethernet Card" and "Configuring Your Internet
Browser".
Step 3:Access the Router. Refer to the section on "Accessing To The Router".
Step 4:Under Quick Configuration, select ADSL Modem/PPPoE configuration. Enter the
Username and Password provided by your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Click Apply and Reboot the Router for the setting to take effect.
Step 5:Check if connection type is PPPoE in Overall status under the WAN section. WAN
IP address will display under IP address once the Internet connection is established.
Step 6:You can start to surf the Internet now.
Check with your ADSL modem manufacturer that the modem is set to the correct
settings with your ISP. You may not able to connect to your ISP if your modem
settings are wrong.

B. Connect to Cable Modem (DHCP Client)
With the Auto MDI/MDIX feature, both cross and straight UTP cable can be utilized.
Step 1:Connect Cable Modem to the Modem port of the Cable/DSL Wireless Router.
Step 2:Connect the computer to the LAN port of the Cable/DSL Wireless Router. Refer to
the section on "Connecting the Cable/DSL Wireless Router to your Computer/
notebook" follow by "Configuring Your Ethernet Card" and "Configuring Your Internet
Browser".
Step 3:Access the Router. Refer to the section on "Accessing To The Router".
Step 4:Under Quick Configuration, select DHCP Client configuration.
Click Apply and Reboot the Router for the setting to take effect.
Step 5:Check if connection type is DHCP Client in Overall status under the WAN section.
WAN IP address will display under IP Address once the Internet connection is
establised.
Step 6:You can start to surf the Internet now.
You may need to restart your cable modem if you could not get a WAN IP address.

Wireless Router.
Step 2:Connect the computer to the LAN port of the Cable/DSL Wireless Router. Refer to
the section on "Connecting the Cable/DSL Wireless Router to your Computer/
notebook" follow by "Configuring Your Ethernet Card" and "Configuring Your Internet
Browser".
Step 3:Access the Router. Refer to the section on "Accessing To The Router".
Step 4:Under Quick Configuration, select DHCP Client configuration.
Click Apply and Reboot the Router for the setting to take effect.
Step 5:Check if connection type is DHCP Client in Overall status under the WAN section.
Local IP address will display under IP Address once Local connection is establised.
Step 6:You are now connected to your Existing Network.
This type of connection is for those who wish to extent their Existing Network. You
may need to configure other setting on the Cable/DSL Wireless Router to match your
Existing Network.

Step 2:Access the Router. Refer to the section on "Accessing To The Router".
Step 3:Under Configuration, click LAN.
Untick "Enable DHCP Server?".
Click Apply.
Under Configurations, click NAT.
Untick "EnableNAT?"
Click Apply.
Click Reboot for setting to take effect.
Step 4:Connect Existing Network via an Ethernet Cable to the Lan port of the Cable/DSL
Wireless Router.
Step 5:The Cable/DSL Wireless Router is in AP Mode now. The default SSID is 11G and
the default channel is 11. You may need to release and renew to get the IP address
form the Existing Network.
Step 6:You are now connected to your Existing Network.
This type of connection is for those who wish to extent their Existing Network but do
not want the Cable/DSL Wireless rouer in router mode.

1.1 Connecting to the Ethernet
Connect your computer(s)/notebook(s) to the CABLE/DSL Wireless Router as illustrated. The

NOT SURE HOW THE ETHERNET PORT LOOKS LIKE?
The following are some tips to help you locate your Ethernet Ports on your
Computer/Notebook. Alternatively, you may refer to the documentation that
comes with your Computer/Notebook.
Locating the Ethernet Port on your Computer/Notebook
Most Computers/Notebooks have labels describing the Ports. For Ethernet Port,
you will see either ETHERNET,ETH or RJ45 labelled near the Port.
If your Computer/Notebook does not have such descriptions, try the following.
-Picture A gives the illustration of an Ethernet Port. All Ethernet Ports have 8
conductors on it. Do not mistaken with the LINE Port (Picture B) that has only 6
conductors.
- The Ethernet Port is slightly bigger than the LINE Port.

The following illustrated screen shots serve only as examples. For
any dissimilarities, please follow closely the instructions prompted on
your Computer.
The below setup is also similar for Wireless Client setup but for exact
configuration, please refer to the respective Wireless client
documentation.

ii Ensure that the field Connect Using indicates the model of your Ethernet Card that
is connected to your ADSL Router.
(This is important especially if you have more than one Local Area Connection icons displayed
at the Network and Dial-up Connections / Network Connections window. Ensure that you have
selected the correct one.)
Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
iii Select the option Obtain an IP
address automatically and click OK.
Click OK again to close.
Ensure that your CABLE/DSL Wireless
Router is powered on. Restart your
system.
Proceed to Step 3.
2.3 For Windows®2000 / Windows®XP
iWindows® 2000:
a) From your Windows desktop, right-click on the icon My Network Places and
select Properties.
b) At the Network and Dial-up Connections window, right-click on the Local Area
Connection icon and select Properties.
Windows® XP:
(Instructions are based on default Start menu option)
a) From your Windows desktop, click Start >All Programs > Accessories >
Communications > Network Connections.
b) Right-click on the Local Area Connection icon that reflects the model of your
Ethernet Card that is connected to your CABLE/DSL Wireless Router and click
Properties.

3.1 Microsoft® Internet Explorer™ (based on IE 5.5)
iFrom your Windows desktop, double-click on your Internet Explorer icon to
launch your Browser.
ii From the Menu, click Tools and select Internet Options... .
iii Select the Connection tab. Click the field, 'Never dial a connection'. (This option will
be grayed off if you have not installed an analog modem on your computer/notebook
before. Proceed with 3.1 iv).
iv Click the LAN Settings... button. Ensure that your Proxy Server is not enabled.
vClick OK to close the dialog box.
You may now proceed to Step 4 to establish your Internet connection.
3.2 Netscape® Navigator
iFrom your Windows desktop, double-click on your Navigator icon to launch
your Browser.
ii Depending on your Netscape versions, carry out one of the following instructions:
Click Options > Network Preferences.
Select Proxies. Ensure that the No Proxies option is selected.
OR
Click Edit > Preferences.
Select Advanced and click Proxies. Ensure that the option Direct Connection to
the Internet is enabled.
iii Click OK for changes to take effect.
You may now proceed to Step 4 to establish your Internet connection.

iFrom your Internet Browser, key in http://10.0.0.1 at the address bar and hit
<Enter>.
ii The Overall Status will be displayed.
iii Click Quick Configuration.
iv Please choose one of the following methods accordingly.
Method 1: Enable DHCP Client option if you are using a cable modem. The WAN port
will obtain an IP address from an upstream DHCP Server or Cable Modem.
Method 2: Enable ADSL Modem / PPPoE Connection option if you are using ADSL
Modem. Key in your username and password provided by your Internet Service
Provider (ISP).
Method 3: Enable Static IP option if you are using Static IP connection. Check with
your administrator or Internet Service Provider for more information.
v Always click Apply and then click Reboot for the setting to take effect.

Step 5: Wireless Configuration
iSSID: This name allows PCs to connect to the correct Wireless Access Point when
multiple Access Points (or Wireless Routers) operate in the same location.
ii Channel: The radio channel number. Enter the valid channels for this router.
iii Hide SSID: When this is Checked, the router will not broadcast the SSID and
unwelcome PCs will not be able to scan for the SSID of this router.
iv Turbo Mode: When this mode is enabled, the router would communicate with the
CardBus at 108Mbps instead of 54Mbps. Turbo mode must also be Enabled on the
Cardbus. In Turbo mode, all the devices automatically use Channel 6.
iSecurity Mode: Check the box to enable the Encryption and Authentication features.
ii Authentication: There are Open-system and Shared-key. However, some Client cards
do not support Shared-key. Hence, use Open-system for simple management.

Step 1: Check the Hexadecimal Key Entry box for entering the encryption keys in
Hexadecimal format. Hexadecimal characters are: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and
a,b,c,d,e,f.
Step 2: You can choose to enter either 10 Hex digits (for 64 bits), 26 Hex digits (for 128
bits) or 32 Hex digits (for 152 bits) via the pull down menu.
The 152 bits is the most secure, but make sure that the Client card that you are
using supports it.
Step 3: Enter the encryption keys in Hexadecimal format.
For example, the characters 1122aabbcc are in 10 Hex digits.
Step 4: Click Apply and then click Reboot for the setting to take effect.
For Encryption in HEXADECIMAL format:
For Encryption in ASCII format:
Step 1: Uncheck the Hexadecimal Key Entry box for entering the encryption keys in Ascii
format. Ascii characters are: 0,1,2,...8,9 and a,b,c,d,...x,y,z.
Step 2: You can choose to enter either 5 Ascii keys (for 64 bits), 13 Ascii keys (for 128
bits) or 16 Ascii keys (for 152 bits) via the pull down menu.
The 152 bits is the most secure, but make sure that the Client card that you are
using supports it.
Step 3: Enter the encryption keys in Ascii format.
For example, the characters test1 are 5 Ascii keys.
Step 4: Click Apply and then click Reboot for the setting to take effect.
A. Open-system
If the client is connected to the AP with an encryption key. Open-System uses Static
Keys for encryption which are enter in the Shared Key fields. Change your key often
so as to prevent hacker from cracking the key.

B. Shared-key
If multiple clients are connected to the AP with multiple encryption keys. Shared-key
uses Static Keys for encryption which are enter in the Shared Key fields. Change your
key often so as to prevent hacker from cracking the key.
For Encryption in HEXADECIMAL format:
Step 1: Check the Hexadecimal Key Entry box for entering the encryption keys in
Hexadecimal format. Hexadecimal characters are: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and
a,b,c,d,e,f.
Step 2: You can choose to enter either 10 Hex digits (for 64 bits), 26 Hex digits (for 128

Step 4: Repeat Step 2 and Step 3 for Shared Key 2, 3 and 4.
The SAME Key must be entered in both the Router and Client. Please take note
that if you use Key 4 on the Router, you must also use Key 4 on the Client.
For example, if the Router has Key 4 with encryption key as a1b2c3d4e5, then
the Client must also have its Key 4 with encryption key as a1b2c3d4e5.
Hence, there will be different Clients connected to the Router with different
encryption keys.
Step 5: Click Apply and then click Reboot for the setting to take effect.
