Part 1: Important information about
the Babboe E-Power:
Babboe E-Power
Congratulations on the purchase of your Babboe E-Power, the family bike with
assisted pedalling. Please carefully read this instruction manual. You will nd
information about how to best main- tain your bike and how to
use the battery to maximize its lifetime. Contact Babboe at
have a question that is
not answered in this
manual.
The Battery:
Before rst use:
The Babboe E-Power comes with the pictured charger for the Protanium ® Lithium
Polymeer battery. The Protanium battery that comes with your Babboe E-Power can
only be charged with this charger. Using another charger will impact the capacity of
your battery and will end the warranty on the battery.
In daily use:
The battery does NOT have to be completely empty
before you recharge it. We advise you to ALWAYS
recharge the battery after use, irrespective of the duration
of your trip. That way the battery will stay in top condition.
This is how you charge the battery:
1. Plug the charger into a power point (220V). You will
need to use a UK adaptor on an electrical plug.
2. Insert the small plug of the charger into the
connection on the battery.
3. Charging starts immediately.
Indication of battery capacity:
0 indication lights lit - 0% battery capacity
1 indication light lit - 10% ~ 30% battery capacity
2 indication lights lit - 30% ~ 60% battery capacity

Inserting the battery before use
Step 1
Insert the battery in the rails below the
luggage carrier with the handle sticking
outwards.
Step 2
Slide the battery forwards along the rails.
Step 3
Slide the battery all the way to the front along
the rails.
Step 4
Lock the battery by using the key to turn the
peg into the battery’s jacket. Make sure that
the peg ts well into the battery’s jacket.
Step 5
Remove the key from the lock and place it in
the ignition hole of the battery which is on
the side of the battery.
Step 6
Turn the power on by turning the key clockwise to the “on”
position (red dot).
Step 7
Push the red button of the regulator on the handle bars. If the
battery is switched on, the indication lights for the battery
capacity will light up. Assisted pedalling has now been activated.
Assisted pedalling
Standard assistance
Your Babboe E-Power is equipped with assisted pedalling. Sensors in the crank arm send signals to
the engine. The engine is activated when the pedals are turning forwards. Assisted pedalling is
active up to a speed of 9.3 miles per hour (15 km per hour). The engine is de-activated when you
exceed 9.3 miles per hour.
Additional assistance using the mountain gear
By using the mountain gear (lever on the regulator which is located on the handle bars) you will
activate additional assistance up to a speed of 14 miles per hour (22.5 km per hour) on a at road.
This makes cycling on the Babboe E-Power in a hilly terrain a fantastic experience. When using
the mountain gear the engine is de-activated when you exceed 14 miles per hour. You can cycle
faster, but the engine will then no longer assist you.
Hand brakes with safety switches
The hand brakes have safety switches which de-activate the engine as soon as you use the brakes
even, if you brake only lightly.
Maintenance of the engine
The engine does not require any maintenance and cannot be opened. We advise you to lubricate
the axis of the engine once a year without opening the engine. Use an acid-free oil or high quality
bicycle oil.
Maintenance of the battery
The battery does not require any maintenance, but has to be charged regularly. The battery’s
performance is impacted by long-term storage or use in extreme conditions. Do not expose the
battery to very low (below 0°C) or very high temperatures for example in a garage. Keep the
battery at room temperature when not using it for longer periods of time. This will considerably
extend the battery’s lifetime.
Storage
You should fully charge the battery at least once every two months when not using the Babboe
for long periods of time. This is very important. If you don’t do this, the battery can get damaged.
