Warranty Details
The product is guaranteed to be free from defects in workmanship and parts
for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. Defects that occur within
this warranty period, under normal use and care, will be repaired, replaced or
refunded at our discretion, solely at our option with no charge for parts and
labour. The benefits conferred by this warranty are in addition to all rights
and remedies in respect of the product that the consumer has under the
Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and similar state and territory laws.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the
Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for
a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable
loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or
replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does
not amount to a major failure.

Read this manual thoroughly before first use and keep it in a safe place for
future reference, along with the warranty card, purchase receipt and carton.
The safety precautions enclosed herein reduce the risk of fire, electric shock
and injury when correctly adhered to.
Important warnings and cautions
• Protect from moisture: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not
expose this product to water or moisture. Do not use it where it could fall
into or get splashed by water.
• Do not open: To prevent contact with high voltage components or
hazardous radiation exposure, do not attempt to open the equipment.
• Servicing: Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is
required if any of the following have occurred: the power cord or plug has
been damaged, the unit has been exposed to rain or moisture, objects
have fallen into the unit, the unit has been dropped or is not working
correctly.
• Electrostatic discharge: When electrostatic discharge (ESD) occurs at
the front surface or near any part or any button of this unit, there may
be a possibility that the product may stop operation and/or shut down
immediately. This is a normal condition and intended to protect the unit
and internal components against damage. In such a case, please reset the
unit (by turning Off and On the radio) to revert the unit to normal operation.

General precautions
• Install the unit in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not
install it near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or
other objects (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
• Only use the unit with the accessories that are sold with the unit.
• Avoid putting extensive stress on the Power Cord, especially at the connection
points.
• To ensure proper ventilation and operation, do not block any ventilation
openings.
• Unplug the unit from the power source during lightning storms.
• Keep candles or other open flames away from this product at all times.
• Placing this radio near a TV, refrigerator, microwave oven, amplifier or DVD
player may adversely affect the sound quality. In such a case, move the
radio away from the device that causes the interference.
• Do not install or place this radio in a bookcase, built-in cabinet or in
another confined space. Ensure the unit is well ventilated.
• This product is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience
and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their
safety.
• Supervise children to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
• Keep the original packaging for future transport of the radio. For maximum
protection, repack the unit as it was originally packaged.
• Ensure to unplug the Power Cord from the unit before cleaning.
• Only use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning the unit and the display screen.
• Do not use any type of solvent, such as thinner and benzene, as they may
cause damage to the surface of the radio.

AC operation
• Before connecting the Retro AM/FM Radio to your household electricity
supply, make sure your outlet voltage and circuit frequency correspond to
the voltage stated on the product.
• Plug the AC power cord into the AC input at the back of the radio, then
insert the plug into an appropriately earthed wall outlet with AC power.
• IMPORTANT: Make sure to set the function switch to the OFF position
when the unit is not in use to conserve power.
Battery operation
• Open the battery door at the back of the radio and insert 6 C-size batteries
(not supplied) into the battery compartment following the polarity
(+ / -) markings.
• Be sure that the batteries are inserted correctly to avoid damage to the
appliance.
• IMPORTANT: When you are not going to use the Retro AM/FM Radio for
4 weeks or longer, or you are only using it powered with mains electricity,
remove the batteries to avoid battery leakage, which can damage the unit.
• Always use fresh batteries of the same type. Never use different types of
battery, or old and used batteries, together.
• To use the appliance with batteries, disconnect the AC power cord from it.
Before rst use
• Unpack the appliance but keep all packaging materials until you have
made sure your new Retro AM/FM Radio is undamaged and in good
working order. Plastic wrapping can be a suffocation hazard for babies and
young children, so ensure all packaging materials are out of their reach.
• Inspect the cord and plug for damage. Do not use the product if the
product or its cord have been damaged or are not working properly.

• Press the ON button on the front of the unit to switch the radio ON.
• Press the FM or AM button to select your desired radio frequency.
• To tune in to your desired radio station, turn the Tuning Dial clockwise or
anti-clockwise until you have reached your desired frequency.
• AM frequencies are displayed in the top half of the circle, and FM
frequencies are displayed in the bottom half of the circle.
• When tuning, ensure to make small movements to avoid skipping any
stations.
• The telescopic antenna should be extended to achieve the best reception.
It may be necessary to change the length, position and direction of the
antenna to achieve the best signal.
NOTE: Concrete, brick and steel will limit the reception range of the radio.
For the best reception, try moving around the room or nearer to a window.
• Once your desired station is tuned, use the Tone Control to alter the high
(treble) and low (bass) frequency outputs.
• To enhance the treble output, turn the control anti-clockwise. To enhance
the bass output, turn the control clockwise.
• Press the OFF button on the front of the unit to switch the radio OFF.
Selecting modes
• When the Retro Radio is turned on, press the FM or AM button to switch
between FM and AM modes.
Adjusting volume
• Turn the volume control knob clockwise to increase the volume.
• Turn the volume control knob anti-clockwise to decrease the volume.

Problem Solution
No sound The volume is set to a low position. Increase the
volume.
Static sound Signal reception is too low. Adjust the aerial or
move the unit to a stronger signal location.
Sound is distorted • The tone balance is incorrect. Adjust the tone.
• The volume is too high. Adjust the volume
control.

found
Weak signal. Adjust the aerial or move the unit to
a stronger signal location.

Goods or Parts Notice
Unfortunately, from time to time, faulty products are manufactured which need to
be returned to the supplier for repair.
Please be aware that if your product is capable of retaining user-generated data
(such as files stored on a computer hard drive, telephone numbers stored on
a mobile telephone, songs stored on a portable media player, games saved on
a games console or files stored on a USB memory stick) during the process of
repair, some or all of your stored data may be lost. We recommend you save this
data elsewhere prior to sending the product for repair.
You should also be aware that rather than repairing goods, we may replace them
with refurbished goods of the same type or use refurbished parts in the repair
process.
Please be assured though, refurbished parts or replacements are only used
where they meet ALDI’s stringent quality specications.
