2.
The Becker GEO is a prefabricated, carbon composite
evaluation orthosis designed to manage moderate coronal
plane postural abnormalities, while assessing the benefit of an
AFO on ankle and knee stability. Based on the Triple Action
ankle joint, the GEO can also help determine the appropriate
booster spring configuration for definitive riple Action AFOs.
Additionally, the GEO may be used as a therapeutic aid for
patient rehabilitation and mobilization.
The Becker GEO is designed to be used with Becker’s
evidence-based Systematic Tuning Procedure
for Triple Action Ankle Joints, which allows
clinicians to quickly and easily tune the
orthosis to determine the unique
supportive needs of the patient.
Ankle alignment, plantarflexion
/ dorsiflexion spring stiffnes
and range of motion are all
independently adjustable to help
simplify tuning.
The Becker GEO comes
fully assembled and includes
adjustment tool kit, heel lifts,
product manual, tuning procedure
and carrying case.

Adjustment
Triple Action ankle alignment, range of motion, and spring stiff ess independently
adjustable. Ankle alignment rotates the component body about the pivot bearing
to change the ankle angle without altering range of motion or resistance to
ankle motion. Dorsi exion and plantar exion range of motion settings change
the relative dorsi exion and plantar exion range of motion irrespective of the
ankle alignmentment setting. Spring stiff ess is adjusted by changing the
spring con guration.
Loosen the alignment lock (inside the
hex) ½ to ¾ turn to unlock the alignment
adjustment.
The alignment adjustment
range is ±10°
Adjusting Alignment
The recommended tightening
torque for the alignment lock is:
10Nm (90 in-lb)

ROM Adjustment using the
1.5mm hex wrench to loosen/
tighten the ROM Lock Set
Screw.
Figure 2. Adjust the ROM
setting to 0° by turning the
Booster fully clockwise with the
adjustment wrench.
Figure 3. Loosen the ROM Dial screw
using the 2mm adjustment wrench and
zero the ROM setting by turning the
blue ROM dial. The ROM lock set scew
serves as a reference for this adjustment.
Rotate the booster to adjust the ROM setting.
To zero ROM:
Adjusting Range of Motion
• Loosen the ROM lock set screw to unlock the
adjustment (Figure 1).
• Turn the booster counter clockwise to increase
ROM 5° per turn.
• Lock the booster by tightening the ROM lock set
screw (Figure 1).
Notes:
• The maximum ROM setting is 10° (2 turns of the Booster Spring).
• The ROM is read directly from the blue ROM Dial.
To adjust ROM:
*The Booster Spring Unit cannot be removed from the Triple Action component
housing. Doing so will destroy the Booster and void the product warranty.

Adjusting Spring Stiffness
The stiffness of spring configuration 1 is suitable for the man ement of mild
swing phase gait deficits. If higher stiffness is equired, the component’s resist can
be configu ed with four diffe ent stiffness options

*The Booster Spring Unit cannot be removed from the Triple Action component
housing. Doing so will destroy the Booster and void the product warranty.
*Internal bottom spring under booster is covered with a lifetime warranty for defects in
materials and workmanship.

6.
The stiffness of spring configuration 1 is about 3 times higher tha a
conventional metal ankle joint.
With the Booster Spring installed, spring stiffness inc eases linearly with the
spring configuration numbe . Spring configuration 5 is about 18 times stiffe
than a conventional metal ankle joint. The maximum active ROM for all spring
options is 10 degrees.
1. Increase the ROM setting to 15˚ by turning the booster counter clockwise
to decrease Booster Spring compression (Figure 4).
2. Remove the Booster Spring ROM dial screw and ROM Dial (Figure 5).
3. Remove the Keeper Plate and install the desired spring configuratio
(Figure 6).

15° ROM.

Cleaning Instructions
The GEO was designed as a multi-user device. Therefore, it is
recommended that the GEO be cleaned after each use.
If no visible soiling is present:
1. Clean/Spray entire device with a hospital grade
disinfectant and deodorizer, such as Impact.
2. Allow to dry completely prior to use.
1. Remove padding and straps and
clean them with mild soap and water.
2. Allow straps to air dry.
3. Wipe down the tibial section and
footplate.
4. If necessary, disassemble and wipe
down the ankle joint.
5. Reassemble the ankle joint and
lubricate as instructed in the
Product Manual.
6. Clean/Spray entire device with a
hospital grade disinfectant and
deodorizer, such as Impact.
7. Allow to dry completely.
8. Reattach straps and padding.
