1 Introduction
1.1 Welcome
With the purchase of your new Hot Tower you have chosen a product that combines the
highest technical standards with practical service comfort. We recommend reading these
operating and maintenance instructions carefully in order to become familiar with the prod-
uct quickly.
With proper treatment you will enjoy this appliance for a long time. Please keep these
operating and maintenance instructions to consult in case any maintenance and repairs are
needed.
We wish you successful business and much pleasure with this appliance.
This operating and installation manual contains important basic information which needs to
be considered during installation, operation and maintenance. Therefore, the operations
manager and the operators must read the entire manual before the unit is installed and put
into operation. The manual must always be kept close to the unit and easily accessible.
1.2 Symbols and notes
This symbol indicates important references for the proper use of the unit. Not
paying attention to these references can lead to malfunctions of the unit or
adverse effects to the environment.
Caution –hot surface!
Indicates a possibly dangerous situation due to hot surfaces. Failure to ob-
serve the instruction may result in burns and/or damage to property.
This symbol points to operation tips and especially useful information. Helps
you to use all functions on your unit optimally.
Potential equalization
This symbol indicates references to materials or operating media that must
be handled and/or disposed according to legal standards and regulations.
This symbol indicates potential or direct danger to the life and health of
persons and/or a possibly dangerous situation. Ignoring these notices may
result in dire consequences for your health and/or can lead to property dam-
ages.

3 Operating instructions and general information
3.1 Operating instructions
Any changes or alterations of the appliance or the use of individual spare parts and
especially parts essential for the functioning of the appliance that are not original Beer Grill
parts as well as non-adherence to notes in the operating manual will cause the lapse of our
warranty and the exclusion of liability claims.
3.2 General information
•The appliance is designed for commercial use and may only be operated by trained and
qualified personnel.
•The operator of the appliance must be thoroughly instructed by the owner.
•Suitable tools are recommended for operating the appliance.
3.3 Intended use
•The warming appliances have been specially developed for presentation in food and
output units.
•They are suitable for presenting warm packaged food and keeping them warm at
temperatures between +30 °C and +90 °C.
The appliancemayonly be operatedin atechnically acceptable condition and in accordance
with all regulations, safety regulations and conscious of risks with regard to the operating
instructions! Any other uses beyond those intended are to be considered as not being in
compliance with the regulations.
The manufacturer/supplier is not liable for any damages resulting from such
actions. The user bears the entire risk. Use in accordance with the regulations
includes observance of the mounting and operating instructions and keeping
with the inspection and maintenance regulations.
Any changes to the appliance is to be made solely by the manufacturer!
3.4 Non-intended uses
•Not suitable for heating up food or even defrosting.
•The appliance may not be filled with food that has a lower temperature than that
prescribed for it.
3.5 Safety notes
All safety regulations were followed during manufacturing, particularly the international CEE
regulations. The appliance was subject to a comprehensive final check at the plant.

4 Safety references
4.1 Electrical power
Switch off the appliance immediately in case of interruptions of power supply!
Any work carried out on the electrical units or utilities may only be performed in
accordance with electrical regulations by a qualified electrician or by a person in-
structed and supervised by a qualified electrician.
Appliances and unit components which are subject to inspection, maintenance and
repair work have to be completely disconnected from the power source and free of
voltage. First, check as to whether the activated parts have indeed been discon-
nected and are voltage-free, then ground and short them out.Insulate any adjacent
parts that are also energized!
4.2 Risk of burn
The following parts will become very hot, when Hot Tower is activated and if touched it exists
danger of burning:
The warming device conform to current state-of-the-art technology, are
constructed in accordance with the recognized safety regulations and are
reliable. However, health and/or life threatening circumstances could arise
for the user or a third party or damage could be done to the appliance or
other property or equipment should the unit be operated by non-trained
personnel in a manner that is improper or non-conform.
•Ceran plate, if heating elements switched on and until they are completely
cooled down.
•Shatter protection glass with bracket, halogen lamp and housing.
•Cover of illumination bridge.

4.3 Glass/accident risk
Your Hot Tower is equipped with lamp bursting alarm (see operation manual). In case of
lamp bursting glass shelves, sneeze screen, front and lateral glasses, proceed immediately
as follows:
•Switch off and close counter.
•Self-service counter: Avoid guests taking food contaminated with glass splinters.
•Collect and replace all plates filled with food from guests, who have been nearby when
the incident happened.
•Take out all food containers of the counter. Dispose food in rubbish bin (not in bin for
leftovers).
•Take off shatter protection glass of defective lamp and clean it.
•Clean the appliance and its environment (counter and floor).
•Replace broken items.
•Refit shatter protection glass with bracket.
•Refill counter.
•Counter is again ready for operation.
4.4 Glazing/Danger of accident
Beer counters are equipped with one sheet safety glass (ESG).
Incorrect, badly mounted or damaged glass may fall out and cause serious injuries. Be
sure to check all glazing before opening the self-service counter, but also after cleaning
the glass (especially the front- glass) if:
•Lateral or shelve glasses are correctly inserted, i.e. correctly fixed.
•The glasses have no damage. The safety glass may crack or burst due to internal ten-
sion, even without contact with the damaged edge.
•The glass holder for damage and upper front holder (customer side) is well fitted. (upper
part must rest on the upper glass edge). These holders are glued. Loosen holders must
be re-glued by qualified personnel. If the glass holder moves upwards, the upper stop
ridge (arrest) of the front glass may be affected and the glass can fall out by strong con-
trast shock.
Damaged edges and corners = Cut risk and insufficient support
Damaged glass panels must be replaced immediately, glass holders refitted
by qualified personnel. In a pinch, continue working without the glass panels
until the required spare parts arrive.

5 Warranty and liabilities
Basically, the "General Terms and Conditions" of the Beer Grill AG company,
Allmendstrasse 7, CH-5612 Villmergen, apply in which the details of the guarantee claims
are regulated. Claims of warranty are excluded if they result from one or more of the follow-
ing causes:
•Improper use of the unit.
•Improper assembling, starting up, operating and servicing of the unit.
•Operating the unit with defective safety devices or safety devices which have not been
installed properly and are not in working condition.
•Disregard of the references in the operating manual concerning transportation storage,
installation, start-up, operation, maintenance and assembling of the unit.
•Unauthorized mechanical or electrical changes to the unit.
•Insufficient maintenance of wear and tear parts.
•Unauthorized repairs.
•Force majeure.
6 Transportation of the Hot Tower
Use special caution when transporting or moving the appliance in order to avoid damage
from impact, carless loading and unloading or shock.
Immediately check the deliveryafterreceiptfor completeness and transport damage. In case
of externally recognisable transport damage, do not accept the delivery or accept only with
reservation. The extent of the damage must be noted on the transport documents/delivery
note and a complaint started.
File a complaint immediately for hidden damage, since compensation claims can
only be asserted within the existing complaint period.
The appliances are high and can fall over if handled improperly. The appliance must be
transported by 2 persons over ramps/crossings or if the ground is uneven.
The cable outlet is underneath in the floor of the appliance. The pallet truck can only be
driven into the prescribed positions.
Damage to the cable can occur if these instructions are not observed.

7 Installation of the Hot Tower
For installation please note:
•Solid substructure
The appliance is not self-supporting, that means, they need a solid base for transport
and installation with the dimensions corresponding to those of the units.
•Lifting
Lifting the appliance (weight) off the pallet must at all costs be carried out with suitable
equipment.
•Using a fork lift truck
When using a fork-lift truck, it is imperative to ensure that the electrical power-supply
cable does not become wedged or damaged.
Always lift and transport the appliance from underneath on the longitudinal side with
assisting devices.
•Moving
After every time the appliance has been moved, a visual inspection of possible damage
to the electrical cable must be made. In the event of damage, the appliance must not be
connected to the mains power supply.
•Blocking castors
Mobile models have to be equipped with two castors with blocking system. These have
to be blocked before start working.
•Ambient-temperature
The warming devices should be positioned so that draughts are avoided or reduced to
a minimum. Warming devices should not be positioned close to doors or in areas where
there are considerable movements or air, such as exit ports of air conditioning, ventila-
tion and heating systems.
•Installation site and storage
The appliances contain electronic components that may not be stored in cold and humid
areas. Make sure that no condensate water can form during storage.
If an appliance has been out of service for a prolonged time and has been stored in a
cool or humid area, it must be thoroughly checked before restarting.
Contact with salt water is strictly forbidden. If an appliance is installed at a swimming
pool, it is essential to assure that the equipment does not get in contact with substances
containing chlorine or acids that may affect the anti-corrosive protection of the metal
construction.
In addition: - do not expose to any aggressive media
- protect from solar radiation
- avoid mechanical vibrations
Stainless steel is not totally resistant to substances containing chlorine or
acids. These may corrode the equipment's materials. The appliances
must not get in contact with such substances.

•Packaging
The appliance is wrapped in with plastic foilfor protection. Remove this from the warming
device. Also prior to commissioning, completely remove all external and internal pack-
aging material from the appliance.
8 Connecting of the Hot Tower
8.1 Electrical connection
Connection and start-up has to be done by a skilled/trained person only. For connection of
the appliance proceed as follows:
•Check up if electrical data of mains correspond with those on the rating plate of the Hot
Tower.
•Connection to conform to IEC resp. CEI 335-1 and local regulations. Connection with
plug: Fit plug conforming to nominal current to cable. Fix connection: Main switch with
necessary number of poles and a minimal contact-distance of 3 mm has to be provided.
•After installing the Hot Tower, socket for electric connection has to remain accessible if
possible. The replacement of the connection cable has strictly to be done by the manu-
facturer, after sales service or an authorized technician only.
If you wish to dispose of the packaging, observe the regulations that
are in force in your country. Bring usable packaging materials to the
recycling facilities.
Please check that the appliance and its accessories are complete. If
any parts should be missing, please contact our customer service.
Important:
The manufactureraccepts no liability or warrantyobligation for damage
that has arisen through not observing the positioning or operating in-
structions or through improper handling.

9 Start-up/Operating manual
9.1 Front view
Main switch
The main switch is in the light channel
on the left-hand side. The appliance
is switched on and off by means of a
flip switch. The switch is installed un-
derneath.
9.2 Back view
The control system is at the back of the
appliance. This is protected with a
screwed-on cover.
If settings have to be altered, loosen
the screws and remove the cover.
After the settings have been made, re-
place the cover and secure with the
screws.

9.3 Control
The temperature of the glass displays is regulated with the rotary switch "Position 1". The
scale runs from 0 –12
0 = no power
12 = full power
The IR emitter is switched on or off with the flip switch "Position 2". Lighting/heating is
always for the entire display.
Before you load the appliance with warm packaged food, wait until the desired
temperature has been attained.
Never fill with too much product or product that is too cold!
We recommend switching off the warming devices when theyare not being used
outside operating hours.

10 Cleaning and care
Following is some advice on maintenance, care, trouble shooting and service for your Hot
Tower. The interior and the outside of the unit have to be cleaned every day in accordance
with hygiene regulations. Only then can you guarantee optimal presentation of the goods.
The appliance must be cleaned inside and outside daily according to the hygiene regula-
tions, because only this guarantees an optimal presentation.
For cleaning purposes the unit should be turned off. Therefore, the best time for cleaning is
at the end of your working day. The appliance can be switched off during the night and
outside of opening hours.
10.1 General recommendations
•Before cleaning, let the unit cool down to hand temperature.
•The appliance has to be cleaned daily.
•After cleaning with special cleaners you have to wash all parts with clear water and dry
them so that there is no cleaner residue on these parts.
•It is absolutelynecessaryto bear some fundamental things in mind to keepthis stainless-
steel unit working and to maintain its long life:
- Always keep the stainless-steel surface clean.
- Make certain there is always enough fresh air on the surface.
- Never let the surface come into contact with rusty material.
10.2 Detergents
Use only a damp cloth with non-scoring cleaning agents.
•Display
The surface of the display is made of glass. Use a standard, non-abrasive, mild
glass cleaner for cleaning. Do not spray the detergent directly on the display.
•Stainless-steel-cleaner
The stainless-steel surfaces should be cleaned with a stainless-steel-cleaner only.
•Lamps and Light-/heating channel
The lamps are to be cleaned with soft paper or cloth only.
•Shelves
The heat plates are to be cleaned only with a smooth cloth and a usual, non-abra-
sive household cleaner.
•Rear panels/doors
Use only soft cloth with a neutral cleaning agent to clean the mirror.
Caution
The Hot Tower is an electrical appliance. Disconnect the unit of the mains.
(pull out plug/switch off main switch).

•Cleaning of glass
Glass panes can be accidently lifted out of their holders during cleaning. To avoid this,
proceed according to the following instructions:
- Do not clean glass panes with vertical wiping motions.
- Clean glass panes with horizontal movements only, so that the panels cannot
be lifted out of their holders.
- This applies to all glass structures.
10.3 Prohibited detergents and techniques
•Do not use acid, bleaching or chlorine cleaners.
•Never use high-pressure, water pressure or steam jet cleaning machines.
•Do not use inflammable detergents.
•Never use sharp-edged or metallic tools like Steel-wool or Scrubbing cleanser for
cleaning.
•Never clean appliances with salt or acid additives.
•Never use high-pressure, water pressure or steam jet cleaning machines.
•Never clean under running water or in the dishwasher.
Caution
After all cleaning has been completed the warming device has to be returned
to its original state in order to guarantee efficient operation. The appliance
should also be inspected afterwards for loose connections or damage. Any
defects detected must be immediately rectified.
In addition to daily cleaning, service and maintenance of the warming de-
vices are required to be carried out in regular intervals by qualified special-
ists.

11 Maintenance
11.1 Service instructions
In order to guarantee a perfect function of the warming devices well along with optimum
presentation of the goods, the entire technological equipment has to be checked regularly
at least once a year by authorized specialist personnel.
Repair work must only be done by trained, qualified personnel and only original replace-
ment parts may be used.
11.2 Guide to Install the touch-guard (optional)
Hold the touch-guard with both hands.

Clam the touch-guard on the lamp cover
11.3 Lamps and heating elements
When replacing lamps and heating elements please note:
•Infrared lamps
Use only lamps with max. 100 Watt. Lamps with higher power ratings become hotter.
This heat can destroy the electric installation and increases the danger of burning.
Caution
Infrared lamps with less than 100 Watt (Item 2002660) have not enough
power and the food cool down very rapidely.
Caution risk of burning!

11.4 Trouble shooting
Before requesting service, please check the mains connection and the fuses and check the
following points:
If the warming device is not working at all, please check whether:
Operating light is off:
